I wanted to say, thank you for this tutorial! My snow globes’ water was EXTREMELY murky and needed an urgent replacing. Tomorrow hopefully I can put in the new water and place it together again! Again, I’m glad you posted this tutorial. The new things I learn from others while searching the internet for answers ❤❤❤
Use rubbing alcohol to clean the music box not vinegar. Same if you have battery acid leakage you need to clean. I love snow globes. Thank you so much. This video has saved so many of my globes.
Thank you so much. I replaced water in a very simple older snow globe, and it came out very nice. Today I found three more globes. One of them I fould for sale for $40. These have the music box. If I had not ran across your video, I am sure I probably would have ruined it.
Thank you much for these videos !! I just bought a 2002 Barbie as rapunzel snow globe at goodwill today who I thought was a lost cause but these videos will be so helpful this week when I have to completely clean her out 💗
Thank you! I've an old snow globe from the 90's and the water has browned over time. I'm going to restore that, since, I see how easy it is to do now.🥰
Ummm .. Don't use tap water...use distilled water and use glycerin...up to 3 teaspoons....depends on size of the globe and how fast or slow you want the glitter to float.
Thankyou so much my mom gave me a snowdrop fairy snow-globe that she had since she was a kid, 5 years ago and the water had gotten to the point that it was like yellow and I could barley see the fairy inside, now the water is clear and the original glitter looks just like snow falling around the fairy inside
This waa a really fun and explanatory video! You were super clear and explanatory, thank you! I don't even need to repair a snow globe, but this was fun and relaxing to see regardless!
If you want the glitter to float use 2 to 3 tablespoons of clear school glue in thev water mixture. You'll be happy you did, as the end product will be much nicer and far more professional in appearance. Also, if you must use glue sticks, try the E6000 and Gorilla Glue sticks method for a stronger, more permanent hold.
Thank you for sharing! I have a very large Christmas Snow Globe that I have taken apart and searching for a replacement rubber gasket and a few other items to see if I can fix it for this Holiday Season as I did not manage last year. It also has a ring that turns for music. Let's see!!!
My snow globe is only a few years old and it has weird chunks in it, is this mold? Either way glad it's not ruined and I can still fix it! I haven't seen the same one in stores since.
does the water need to be replaced periodically, I thought regular tap water was not good to use... Also, some globes have an air pocket on top of the water in the globe, is this because it needs more water? thanks for helpful video
I bought FAO Schwarz snowglobe and water is pretty murky. The blower and timer still works and it has little white beads, I guess,as snow. I would live to change the water. Do you think it could possibility be the same way to fix?
Thank you for your help. I am replacing rusty water in a Pete's Dragon snow globe. What would you suggest doing to clean grease or excessive dirt/dust off Disney Snow Globes that have a lot of crevices and curves. Spray foams, hot water with soap, small swabs, etc??? Thank you.
Any recommendations on where to get new gaskets?! Mine ripped while repairing the snow glove. It is a very old glove and the plastic gasket was gross (discolored) and cracking. There was a hole in the basket to put the figurine.
I'm trying to fix a snow globe with a train that goes around, its a pretty old one from the 80s. Any reason the fix would be different or use a different liquid?
This was an excellent explanation - you went through every detail slowly and clearly - I feel confident to open mine up and replace the water... Have you ever had a music box that looked as bad as the one in this video that actually worked after you gave it the vinegar treatment? Mine looks very much like yours did initially, completely gunked up with some kind of deposits and frozen solid I found a replacement on ebay for ~$12
@@ClaudineKarp I just used a bit of the waterproof silicone that I used to seal. I let it sit for 24 hrs before I put it back together with the water. Hope this helps.
That you can do. Use Diamond Dust. If you cannot find Diamond Dust, use very fine glitter, about ¼ of a teaspoon per 2 cups of fluid. A pinch more for a more lavish look.
You can look up snow globes repair shop near you and maybe they can tell you where to get a globe for the one you are missing. It is always nice to talk to someone who knows more about it.
My mom has a globe attached to a solid square base. There’s not a place to open it on the bottom as far as I can tell. I’d love to clean it for her. The water is brown and nasty.

Thanks for this. I have the same villains globe and the water turned so dark. My heart is just broke. This gives me hope and an alternative ❤

That rubber cement stuff will loosen up a lot if you hit it with a blow dryer on hot for a couple minutes.
Interesting… I’ve been trying to get rid of this stuff. I’ll keep that in mind!

Thank you for sharing! I did my first test one as you suggested and it’s beautiful. Next I have two to do for my granddaughter. 😊

You can buy those music boxes online. Just keep the base that it sits on.

I personally prefer using glycerin, it will work better in the long run

Great tutorial! I have an Aurora one that needs cloudy water changed desperately. Glad I came across your video
Are you going to repair the vintage Little Mermaid snow globe? I would like to see that one.
thank you so much for this
This was super helpful and effective. Thank you!
Thanks for your videos, i just received an old second hand Disney snowglobe, so now, i will try to repair it.

Thank you so much! Ive been trying to figure out how to repair my moms old snowglobe for years ❤
Glad I could help!
You did a great job explaining thanks

Probably goo gone! If you are trying to get it off the glass. So sorry for the late reply!
This was so helpful thanks so much!
If you let it sit in really hot water for a few minutes it will soften up the rubber cement also.
Can you do a tour of all your snow globes. They look so beautiful
I just packed most of them away because we had a baby and I am afraid of him breaking them! 😭
I am going to try this!
I thought it was just mine and somehow ruined. I am refilling this weekend thank you!

Try an old fashioned hardware store. Remember to take the globe with you to get the correct one.
Where do you typically get another rubber gasket/base if it rips?
I would recommend eBay!

Before I remove anything I pour alcohol in all the corners from the top area where the globe is and under its eats off all that rubber stuff and glue
what if the rubber deteriorated :(
What do you use to reattach the figurine on the stopper? I have a Santa that is currently floating around in the globe. TY
I have the same problem. Did you ever figure out how to attach your santa?

Can you put your own glitter

Club soda will get the crud off the metal insides.

Is it fine if you uncover the bottom by the screws though?
The screws only hold the music box on
too bad the music box doesn't work anymore
Mine have a problem with lights
Make sure you use distilled water
I thought that was sleeping beauty in there 😅
