So who gets to keep the chair? Your mum’s aesthetic looks pretty eclectic and fun. What a beautiful reminded of time making together. It’s eleven years since my mum passed and I just love seeing adult women together supporting and learning from each other. Danie, you really are something else.🤟
Next time try using fusible webbing/double sided fusible interfacing to attach the cutouts to the chair. Fusible interface uses steam setting on an iron. May work. So you can skip the fabric glue. You should be able to cut the webbing/interfacing on the Cricut as well. Love how the chair turned out!
Danie, I love this chair. I have a suggestion though if you redo a chair like this -- paint the chair with a clay based paint. If you put it on correctly, which isn't hard, it feels like canvas fabric with the material this chair is made out. Then I would use the cricut to make the stencils -- exactly the same ones you did cuz they were fantastic and then stencil away to sweetness with various colors of the clay based paint. I highly suggest DIY paint from Debi's Design Diary. She's painted a few different fabrics from velvet to a fabric chair. The colors are so intense that it actually dyes your fabric with the help of the mist spray bottle. I really think this would absolutely do the trick. I wish I could be part of it I love, love, love using that paint. Honestly I have no interest in making money from that paint, I wish I did, but I don't it is just a game changer.
Hey! Danie did something like this already FYI (with beautiful results of course!)! She used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint instead, but both brands are comparable. :) ruclips.net/video/Z0wftWnQKjg/видео.html
Sometimes my projects are a total, amazing, complete success. Sometimes they are a step in learning. Sometimes....just not. I LOVE that you show us the real. The visual is greatness.
Great job Danie! It is very Folk Art. I have been working with wool in this way for nearly 20 years. Hand stitching pillows, table runners anything really. They were called Penny Rugs in the 1800's. It is a great medium to work with and these days many colors. Now I need to create something myself! Fantastic job, thank you for the inspiration!
Your Mom and You are Precious to see. And how the Pups relate. The chair ,no matter how long it lasts, is full of color. Felt has jewel like qualities. I am not sure painting fabric would be that brilliant. Maybe combination of fabric paint and Crewel stitches would do it. Thank you for going out on a limb to try. Gives us courage.
I wonder how this would work if you used the Cricut to make stencils and paint instead of felt would be more kid friendly for every day use? It’s absolutely beautiful anyway if i owed this chair it would be my “happy place”❤️👍🏻
The chair she is copying had fabric on it which is why I think she decided on the felt. She could paint it but it wouldn't be the same style as the chair she was copying.
This was such a lovely project for you to work on with your mom, and the result was so beautiful and whimsical. I would love to work on something like this with my mom, and my daughter! You’re so good at editing your videos and explaining and showing the process.
I really enjoy how honest you are about your outcomes. You’re not saying the chair is as good as the OG. But it is cute and a valuable learning experience.
Girl, your dedication level is top notch. I would not have had the patience for something so meticulous. And it turned out beautiful!! Love all the colors 🥰
Omg when the video cut to the fog rolling across the water... my heart melted. I love drinking my morning tea with you and Kenobi! The week behind me fades away and I feel inspired to create!! ps. i love your chair so much more!!!
Love the way your editor adds in the extra funny bits and absolutely love the way this came out. This gave me an idea for a large plum color chair I've had for a while and was thinking about getting rid of it......not any more! Thank you for your awesomeness!! ✌🤓💜🐕👾🎮🎶🎧🎨🖌📐🛠👽🖖
Oh sweet Dani! I've been wanting to redo a small settee & 2 chairs set I have like this! I finally finished reupholstering the pieces then they sat as the intimidation set in on the decorating like you did part. You showed me not only how to do it but how to do it well! You pushed through your intimidation and with the help of your mom.. made your chair spectacular & gave me the confidence I need. I love your relationship with your mom. I had one like it with mine & miss her everyday now that she's gone.
anytime I see Kenobi I hope I am spelling that right it make my day and to see many fur balls my heart is filled with joy ….also love the project .....it was occasion chair shark pup had a occasion to have fun.🤗
It's such a fun quirky reading chair that is perfect for kids reading nook. Part of getting kids to read is having a fun setting and this chair really does it. As for me, I love it & would be great for my reading nook. Thanks Danie and Mommy
Love the colors! Definite inspiration. Maybe quilting squares for 2.0 version. Would also take the kitch up a notch and a nod to the Arts & Crafts movement.
Oh Dani I watch your show and love everything you do, you're so creative.. this chair is over the top!! I just love it! great job.. great comments as well everyone.. thanks for being part of it all
I love love love this! It is very kitschy. We just got a cricut last month and I think it’s fantastic! I love seeing your relationship with your mom. Enjoy each moment with each other.
Yesssssssss! At last a North American DIY without any tiny bit of beige. I love you for that! Dunno why diyers make beautiful things and paint them in beige all the time. Worse, it begins to reach Europe now. When beige stuff scream BORING! your chair scream JOY, FUN, HAPPINESS! Love it! Thank you.
Omg I love it!!! 😍 next time you do a project like this try/ look into fuseable interfacing… you would iron it onto the back of the fabric and then iron it onto the chair and it would act like glue. You could sew or just tack it in certain places! 💕
I love this idea. I have some large floor pillows that would look awesome with this idea. I actually have those same chairs in orange… I will try this with them. Dani, you make me laugh every time I watch you. Thank you for this channel, one of my favorites!
Kudos to you and your Mom! I think this chair would be lovely in your guest room and contrast well with the dark walls. Hope you got to stay an extra day or two to your time with Mom in that beautiful setting. 👍🇨🇦⭐️
I absolutely love that you chose a yellow chair. It is so HAPPY to look at, cheerful and bright. You did a fantastic job on your chair!! It is every bit as beautiful as the Anthropology chair. Well done! I had no idea Cricut could cut felt. That is so cool. I would totally purchase a chair like this. Don’t we all have a chair we really don’t sit in. It just fits a space or looks pretty somewhere? At least I do! I’d happily re-home a couple of mine to get this beauty. Very inspiring! I do have a yellow chair. 😉 not nearly as cute as a shape as yours. But comfy. I’ve been considering getting a cricut for awhile now. I’ve felt intimidated too. But it’s really tempting me to turn my yellow chair into an “occasional chair”. It is anyway. It just needs to look the part now.
I mean, I really don't know what could be more perfectly charming than felt. I honestly wouldn't want to see any other fabric on here, even if that means it really does have to only be an "occasional" chair. 😍😍
This chair is awesome! Definitely think it works as an "occasional" chair. Wonder if there is some kind of fabric spray that can protect against the felt fuzzing up eventually? Kind of like a fabric shellac... So great that the Cricut can do all that cutting for you. Think the original chair is definitely worth its sale price. Look at your sewing skills now! That alone makes the project worth it! Those stitch additions took the chair to the next level. Think if we factor in the cost of your mom's sewing skills and the time, this was a tie price wise, but well worth the effort!
Another brilliant project! I love this chair! I'd sit in it every morning and sip my tea. This cheery chair would make every morning happy. I'd sit in it every morning and sip my tea.
Agreed it looks pretty amazing, but I would use a cotton Twill instead of felt (a bit more expensive to buy all the colours), it doesn't fray and wears well. I would also use heat and bond instead of glue, which you can apply to the fabric before cutting with the cricket and peel of the backing before applying with an iron to the chair. I love the French knots and other stitches added. You can still do those and then rip the backing off .
Wow Dani you have done it once again. The chair looks amazing. You are so talented to be able to have an idea and create the project. Hope we can see more of your mom in videos. I can see where your creativity comes from. Keep on creating ….
You did it again, Danie!! So cute! If you did it again, what fabric/material do you think would be better? I may want to try this with a thrifted chair 🤔
What an incredible DIY journey! I’ve loved this chair (and other similar Anthropologie chairs) for many years. I know it was a real challenge but you must have had such fun in the creation process! It’s so vibrant and balanced! Brava!!
Absolutely beautiful. Anthro still have the chair and I keep debating if I'm going to purchase it. It's selling for $998 right now. I think if it went down to around $400-$500, I might consider getting it. Again, you did an amazing job. Enjoy.
This is great inspiration for a sewing project! It would be such a fun fusible applique machine stitching. I think if I were to do it, I'd disassemble the chair as much as posible and use some muslin to drape the shape of the chair and then use that to make a pattern for my actual backing fabric. A whole lot more work than a Cricut though for sure! Thanks for the inspo!
I've got this chair & footstool. Mine is boring light grey as they no longer did the pink or blue one I wanted. I wanted to recover it, but decided to paint it instead (either duck egg or pink...). I love this look though, so am thinking about adding motifs too. Great job!

I love it! Also I appreciate how you show the imperfections in the diy. It makes it so much more relatable. Oh and that you didn’t felt the seat was great! Let’s be real pets and humans leave a mess so cleaning that felt would be a pain lol

One of my favorites that you’ve ever duped. You’re inspiring me to open my cricket for the first time. I’ve been so intimidated by it!
Same here! It's sitting in my office staring at me. And I'm a graphic designer - it still intimidates me!
Ngl, I LOVE this chair! The colors are so vibrant! It has such a boho-maximalist-grandmillenial feel to it. 😃
This is 100% opposite from my personal aesthetic yet I still kinda love it. It's so cute!
