Mid to late 70s and then throughout the 80s may have been more accurate, and you are right about the aesthetics part. They look infinitely better than anything nike put out during that time
Yea the gazelle never hit it off over there. It was massive in the 90s here with clubbing football etc and those things were part of weekend life for us brits
Love the Adidas City Series and the Island series got quite a few pairs! Outside of England and Europe you just simply wouldn’t understand the casual culture and how adidas trainers are a big part of it!!!
Great video man, very intersting. I know you said that this silouette doesn’t go with your vibe but if you had to pick your favourite city model which one would it be?
Oh and. Simplicity is neat. Clean and sharp. I am a US 11.5. If i wear Jordans or Airforce i look like a clown. Therefore the slimmer adidas suits me better. You can also dress up while wearing Adidas Cityseries or Island and so on. You cannot look as good in Jordans or those other oversized looking shoes with 8 different colours.

I really like the city series - I think they look good and are great for the collection. Anyone who likes Adidas will have o e City series in their collection - gazelles are a legendary casual /terrace style trainer. 👌
What about the SPZL range pal some proper belters in there , I been into adidas since school back In the 80s got quite the collection including dublins and stockholms but am totally hooked on the twice yearly and odd one off drops they do , so check em out and also great vid by the way subbed
@@theshoe67I'll After a pair of the Columbia pal, great shoe. The Vario pegs are the one, . How about the og LA trainers? They go for silly money and then there's the TRX runners, the old McVicars!
Sorry to say this but you’ve not got much knowledge of this type of shoe at all they are NOT 80s for a start they were from the 70s and NOT modelled off the Gazelle either. Most of the city inspired models are leisure shoes The suede upper variants started with the Athen in 1968 ending with Berlin 1980. Sales of the shoe were exceedingly high but plummeted by the early 80s in favour of tennis, indoor, runners and jogging shoes from France and Taiwan. The comeback of these types of shoes was 2001 and progressed from there and still being made today……
"a color in line with that particular city and country" ? Oh really??! How so exactly? London England is typically red/black in what respect?? Dublin Ireland is typically blue/orange how? Copenhagen Denmark is typically yellow/black in what way? Well, yeah I guess the Swedish flag is blue and yellow and so was the Adidas Stockholm....but that's about it. Come on, get real and don't be a sucker for the marketing hype. Adidas chose those colorways just because they thought they looked good - not because of any fatuous "link" to the name on the shoe.
@@Adam23200 my friend, you have a weird definition of 'hating'. And it is PRECISELY because I have been a sneaker head for over 30 years that I understand marketing nonsense when I see it. Sadly, the sneaker world is full of this kind of meaningless marketing nonsense.
You should've prefaced the video by saying "I'm a kid and think the (ugly as sin) Air Jordans are amazing". That way I wouldn't have been so appalled by your disliking of the PERFECT shoes. Gazelle, Campus, "city series" and chuck taylors. Those should be the only sneakers sold around the globe.
Casual Culture is the best culture, fashion, music and football, we’ve got it all
I agree mate the only culture which comes close is the mods
Totally agree I think Nike is just an American thing, too much going on, over the top😂😂
@@jasonstacey8577 from America. I don’t understand the Nike obsession. Overrated brand.
City Series was from the 70s not the 80s and was more aesthetically pleasing than Nike designs from the same era.

Actually the first adidas "City" shoes was the "Rom" released in 1960 Olympic
Best quality City Series Retros are: Adidas Hamburg - Made In Germany (2015), Adidas Köln (2017), Adidas Berlin (2018)
I’m an eighties boy good to see the kids rolling with this
Subbed for the history series. I liked the city series since I listened to Oasis and influenced by British subculture since I was a teen.
Thanks! I think of it as one of my better videos
@@SneakerKlev Good one. Keep it up!
Will do 👍
The yanks just don’t get it when it comes to Adidas originals
Yea what can you do
Not all yanks do. But there’s a good amount of us that do. We understand and love the culture.
Too right, it's for Europeans lad. I don't think the yanks know there's actually other countries outside of the states
No they like the Yeezy and the big horrible chunky things. Simple is the best. Old school. “ too simplistic “. What a load of bollocks.
Yea the gazelle never hit it off over there. It was massive in the 90s here with clubbing football etc and those things were part of weekend life for us brits
Fair points mate - I would disagree and say that the simplicity makes the footwear and the majority of the City series are great
It's okay mate I guess we can't all have perfect taste in sneakers
Yeah true,
Less is more, subtle and understated, versus loud bulky and one the top

Prob why they continued making them. I liked a lot of them

Do Belfasts ever come up?
The Adidas Gazelle OG is the nicest shoe of all the shoes of that era. The Gazelle look good with anything, unlike those Jordan 1s🙄.
I really like city series adidas “MUNCHEN”❤
Love mine 6 pairs in different colours of Munchen
I really like the simplicity. It’s cool to wear trainers from ur city
But if you are from madrid, you will prefeer to wear another city series, the madrid’s one are so fucking ugly
where do i get or buy this shoes now? anyone can you please help me.. thank you.
Where can i buy city series?
So many inaccuracies here, but thanks for the vid
Please elaborate
every model is different not just gazelle (trimm star, trimm trab, samba)
Thanks for your comment, I didn't know that
