My review on Allmusic written January 23, 2018. 5 Stars Independence is a great punk record from Ohio's Toxic Reasons. Released on Risky Records in 1982, Independence was definitely one of the better punk-hardcore releases in the early '80's. The LP jumps right out of the gate with "Mercenary", "Drunk And Disorderly" and "War Hero". A highly charged LP from a great band.
Decades ago, I went to a show at a Sokol hall with these guys. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The entire fucking crowd was jumping in time. It was the peripheral nibbling at the edges of political agenda.
@@JJPtoxic I'm doing pretty well. You? I think I remember where my sister and I met you and Bruce. 2+2? You came up to our mother's apartment...Chinese food...? I distinctly recall Lisa insisting that I take the ride to return you guys because I had to work later that morning. AND, the guy I was seeing stole the record insert to "Independence." Asshole. In any event, I need to see what you've all been up to! I hope life has treated you well. If I still spoke to Lisa, I know she'd get a kick out of this unexpected connect.
None of my business but what does Ed P do or not do these days. Punk will always be relevant in the current state of affairs? Peace and Punk Rock For Ever!
Yes Motörhead was an influence but just one of many. Lemmy DID have a great gravely voice but he didn’t own exclusive rights to that style of belting out the vocals
Hey, I took my son to a Green Day show & believe it or not.... Those guys fucken rocked. Truly excellent showmanship, they looked like they were having a blast. That’s what it’s all about (to me anyway) It’s not their fault that millions of fuckers bought their stuff & made them commercially successful

That intro sounds like Iron Cross - You're a rebel
But unfortunately iron cross “you’re a rebel” came out 17 years AFTER this.
So I reckon ya gotta say, THEY sound like US
🤪
You’re a rebel came out in 1983 on the hated and proud ep.
They we’re playing the DC area in 1980 and Sab lived at the Dischord house.
