  • @lisab.1595
    @lisab.1595 3 года назад

    Well, that certainly was interesting. Hey, it got the job done, that's all that's important. I'm in the states, and I have a very small grassy area behind my pool, but it's up 3 steps and I got tired of hiking the mower up the steps, so I bought a Black & Decker 3 in 1, which is a combo string trimmer, edger and lawn mower. You can get it in corded or cordless. I chose the battery op, and you can adjust the height and the string trimmer snaps into the base with a foot pedal, and gives a great cut, weighs nothing at all and I don't get a hernia dragging a lawn mower up 3 steps for a very small job.
    It's handy, you cut the grass, snap out the trimmer, edge and trim, has an auto spool feeder also. There's something for everybody these days , and it works fine for my needs.

    Dont worry Tim, Flymo in the UK are pretty well known and trusted for electric mowers. i feel the sense of stress, almost PTSD when mowing with electric mowers. as a kid i would mow the lawn/grass and it was hard work. Now as a "grown up" and a home owner, i choose petrol mowers as its so much easier than electric and, in my opinion, give a much better finish on the cut.

    I have spent probably 500 hours using a 2 or 4 stroke hover mower over the last 25 years cutting grass at a friends large property. There are three areas where they excel above all other mowers; 1/ They are brilliant on steep slopes and around the sloping margins of golf bunkers and ponds. 2/ They are great on small irregular shaped pieces of grass where its tricky to mow in a straight line. This is because they cut sideways so well and because you can mow in an arc without moving your feet 3/ Around trees. Its around trees where they are underappreciated. The area I cut has about 120 small and medium closely spaced ornamental trees. I can stand in one position and cut all around a tree without moving my feet. I have timed it and I can cut around trees about 80% faster with a hover mower than a small cylinder or rotary which matters for me when I have so many to cut around.

    The sweeping action on the last bit of lawn was priceless. The homeowner would be better off with a little battery mower. I think Brad from copper creek lawn demoed one a while back.

      Yep a battery mower here would work but I'd still be going a small petrol mower personally

    It looked and sounded like a vacuum. So it was basically a Vacuum cleaner with a blade attached to the bottom. I was lucky that my dad didn't make me mow with a hazard (I.E. the power cord), I learned to weed eat on a Shindaiwa, and used a craftsman ride mower... love your videos by the way.

    240 volt machinery has been around for a long time and not all of it was toy value only.
    In an industrial setting I used big Stihl 240 volt chainsaws for many years and they were a beast.
    No fuel to mess around with, they were quiet and went first time every time.
    With around 3 to 4 hours solid cutting everyday they even lasted about 10 years.
    The saw I used was comparable to Stihls original petrol powered Farm Bosses.

      I realise 240v power equipment exists, this is just a very quirky piece of gear and the means of powering it was amusing. Cheers for checking out the vid 👍

    I have an electric mower its quite big the only problem is the cord you have to have one person to hold the cord while mowing .
    Well done 👍

  • @Susied7
    @Susied7 3 года назад +1

    I'd use a shorter cord on a smaller yard, since it's easy to carry the charger with you. Don't have to fling the long cord around.

Don’t know if they have them down under, but seen them in stores here. Now you have a challenge. Keep up the great work!

    Flymo mowers are popular in the UK, but the company is actually Swedish. Karl Darlmann claimed to have invented it in 1964 after seeing a hovercraft. However, a RUclipsr did a restoration on a genuine 1952 Toro hover mower so that kind of undermines the Swedes' claim.
