I found your band by watching Michael Palmisano’s guitar lessons. I’m totally in love with your Bahamas band. Sincerity, simplicity and soulfulness! Mahalo 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🙏🏽❤️
1) No kidding. I've listened to their studio stuff. Most of it, I'm just like...this is fine. But this is sublime. It's so....intimate (not a quality lent by sound engineering - but the performance itself) and it sounds amazing. This is one of my top ten things I'll show people if they happen to be in my studio in front of monitors. 2) Tiny Desk concerts are also consistently incredible. I marvel at that, and whomever does the Alabama Shakes albums. They both strike me as art in their own right.
i'm a sound engineer myself and i can tell you something (despite that i love Bahamas's music and that the performance is amazing) The sound is incredible, the man killed it for sure !
I've listened to Bahamas for years. They have never sounded this good. I can't stop listening to this. It's been on repeat for 3 days. My wife is slowly losing her mind.
If you're looking for a great stripped down set and you really get to see Afie's personality and guitar skill. Look up Bahamas Live Set SXSW. It's 10 years old, but still lovely
I don't normally comment but this is incredible.. A thousand thanks to Michael Palmisano's guitar lessons for introducing me to this beautiful Canadian band! ✌️
Since I found this around around 10 days ago I've listened to it every day when I wake up, brings me pure joy. Also I been feeling the unstoppable urge to show this to all my guitarist friends, their collective playing and unison is absolutely perfect.
Such a phenomenal set! Fantastic musicians So Free 0:00 No Expectations 7:43 Way With Words 11:24 Opening Act (The Shooby Dooby Song) 11:52 No Wrong 20:32
Afie is such an amazing lyricist, composer, singer and guitar player. He and the band deserve all the success that comes their way and a whole lot more! BAHAMAS RULES!!!!!!
The sound and mix quality for this is elite. One of the best sounding YT performance videos I've ever watched. (Aurora-Haik is another amazing one btw)
I agree. Apart from Opening Act having some really cool spacial effects going on in that recording, I prefer them live, 100%, from front to back. I think they smash their studio recordings with things like this.
Girlfriend and I saw them at '15 bonnaroo and this year in Tampa, Bahamas had been the first artist we saw at the festival. Absolutely lovely, brings tears to my eyes
How can anyone not feel great listening to and watching this band?!... 20:00, Felicity almost starts laughing due to the joy of her "shoe-be,do-be" ing!
Thanks Michael Palmisano for introducing this band to me. Great for running on the treadmill to!! He sort of sounds like Jemaine from Flight of the Concords.... :)
Song writers come and go but lyricists are a rare commodity. Don't know who is doing the writing here but it's genius. I'm hearing a Van Morrison/Steely Dan/ kind of vibe. The background vocals and chord voicing are magical and mesmerizing to the ears. Don't stop!
I came across "All the time" music video in of my buddys collection of music videos, i must have listend to it 10 times after eachother, Ive never disliked any of their songs till this day.
I knew I heard the dirty projectors influence and then 7:44 happened.. If you haven't checked out that band you should.. they had two female backing singers that did that vocal thing a lot
@cbcmusic Aay CBC! Thanks for the amazing content. Please can we get some Kishi Bashi, Bobby Alu, The Hip Abduction, Current Swell, Oshima Brothers, Jon & Roy, and Ocie Elliot. There are loads more, but this is my Christmas list. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Michael Palmisano has great taste and had the Bahamas band on his video. I love this and have them on constantly. Thanks to Michael for bringing this to us.
Bahamas music should be played as the default Canadian Govt call waiting music. Life would be better and it wouldn't matter if you're on hold for hours. Chillawesome.
None of the records are mastered and mixed this well. The production is so clean and bare, it really honours the sound being made by the musicians. The records all have an artificial sheen, this is so superior.

Whomever the sound engineer, he or she killed it. Sounds incredible in my headphones.

Mine, too!
I've listened to Bahamas for years. They have never sounded this good. I can't stop listening to this. It's been on repeat for 3 days. My wife is slowly losing her mind.
I just found them today and recommended songs? "All the time" came up on my pandora and I was hooked.

Bass player has a perfect touch
Dude, yes.
Yessss.
Thank you Michael P. for introducing me.
This is bliss.
Here because of Michael P too. Wonderful music, video, vibe, writing, production. I love Canadians too !
Everything about this. The performances, the sound engineering, the space, the camera work, the lighting. Crushed it on all levels.
the fact that this is a live session is bananas
Bananas? Or...Bahamas?.......I'll let myself out.
Never heard of this band before but man this first song just blew me away. Love finding new music like this randomly.
It hits the spot for me when no other music out today does anymore. I'm with you m8
Glad you found them. Most of their songs feel super chill and refreshing.
It's amazing how So Free repeats the same chords yet sounds fresh the whole time. Incredible harmonies...
2nd track backing vocals are genius!
who would ever think "do do do do" could sound so good
You nailed it do do do doooo
Well, we know that 73 people have hearing problems! How could you dislike this? So damn good!!!
bassman just as cool as a bassman should be
Indeed! Whats his name?
@@evenbass Darcy Yates, I think. Sure looks like him, anyway.
His brother Clayton is also a very talented musician. Strong blood in that family. :)
Since I found this around around 10 days ago I've listened to it every day when I wake up, brings me pure joy. Also I been feeling the unstoppable urge to show this to all my guitarist friends, their collective playing and unison is absolutely perfect.
This WILL and should be the soundtrack for my funeral. OMG, this sound engineer is crazy, this is so good!
Another guy with his own funeral playlist. You're my people.
Felicity is a treasure
Jeez I've listened to this so many times, is it just me that thinks the backing singers are just the absolute best ever?
Not just you!! ❤
Such a phenomenal set! Fantastic musicians

There is absolutely no aspect of this band I'm not in complete love with, just amazing
So beautiful - such a relaxed pocket - deeply soulful - and Christine Bougie’s playing slays me 🖤🌈
Christine’s solo stuff is amazing
Yeah they are absolutely incredible
I rewatch on a regular basis. I love this so much.
Felicity Williams....you're amazing X
So wonderful. Someone should name a group of sunny islands after them. What a band ! Danforth closing show was tremendous. Joyful !
The sound and mix quality for this is elite. One of the best sounding YT performance videos I've ever watched. (Aurora-Haik is another amazing one btw)
The lyrics, the ambiance, the sounds I feel like I'm the first row, magical!
Cheers! We're glad you enjoyed it!
@@cbcmusic pure gold, the sound is so clean with earphones on! Perfect to enjoy with a cold one.
Great songwriting and incredible musicianship. This is how music should be made: with love, devotion, and a deep appreciation for the art from.
Well said .... agreed !
Sitting back enjoying 💞
Great combination of talented musicians and sound engineer who's learned the art of that science. Excellent.
Ended a down day with this pick me up. Soothing. Interesting balance here.
I like live Bahamas. More of the beautiful backups and more Afie letting his fender loose. 😀👌
I agree. Apart from Opening Act having some really cool spacial effects going on in that recording, I prefer them live, 100%, from front to back. I think they smash their studio recordings with things like this.
Ahhh here we are back again😌
I'm hearing so many things I love.. Steely Dan and Michael McDonald. My family cannot get over Bahamas.
Thanks for listening - and bringing in your family for it too!
Girlfriend and I saw them at '15 bonnaroo and this year in Tampa, Bahamas had been the first artist we saw at the festival. Absolutely lovely, brings tears to my eyes
I saw them at '15 Bonnaroo too!! Such a special set, always go back and watch the video of it
Boston House of Blues
I’m excited to read the comments and see others that get as excited as I do about this band. So good!!
Just saw Afie in Calgary a few days ago. If there was a second show I’d definitely be there. He and the band absolutely crushed the show.
How can anyone not feel great listening to and watching this band?!... 20:00, Felicity almost starts laughing due to the joy of her "shoe-be,do-be" ing!
Joy bringer mos def♡
Every rewatch I fall in love with someone else 👍🤖👍
Hot damn if this isn't my favourite performer on the planet right now. So good.
The flight of the Conchords are so dynamics
Everything is perfect with this music.

Just now discovered this. My new favorite song. So original, fresh, incredible vocals, wow just amazing.
So freaking good. Vibes are on point. Music is soulful.
Friend sent me a link to this yesterday. I’m utterly blown away by it!
This is as good as it gets all around. Songwriting, guitars, bass, drum, vocals, patience, blend of all...
These songs and sound is off the charts...my must listen every morning
Best thing ever we need you guys Love you
Ridiculously sublime
This whole thing should be available on an album.
That girl ooo-ing over the beat in the first song is the most lovely thing I’ve ever heard in music. Could play that on repeat all day
Get to see this live tomorrow in Chicago! so pumped!
My new most favorite band! You take me where I need to be. Very nice!

Absolutely amazing guys!!!!!! So great to see Canadian talent circulating on youtube.
Made a brand new fan tonight ... Your girls are in wonderful harmony and they sound just like love does .. Love from Kentucky
Those backing vocals ❤❤❤
Wow! Guys, this is magical!
That moment you realise this was 3 YEARS AGO! Dang, glad I found you eventually. 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Simply insane. Best tone ever heard. Thx Bahamas!!!
Breathtaking music. I'll follow your every step. Greetings from Iceland.
I first heard of these guys in 2012 when Lost in the Light came out. Forgotten about them since then. Looks like I have some catching up to do.
My five year old keeps making me rewind to Opening Act. Love y’all! Hope I get to witness y’all in person.
Starting em off young on good music! Well done! That's good parenting, right there!
Such a killer sound and great album. Love jamming to these tunes.
Love it at 20:00 using singers like a rhythm guitar.
Just saw him last Thursday in Sudbury - best concert I've seen in years! Afie and crew are incredible.
I came across "All the time" music video in of my buddys collection of music videos, i must have listend to it 10 times after eachother, Ive never disliked any of their songs till this day.
Beautiful music
Christine Bougie laying it the hell down!!!!
Glad you liked it, Matt!
I knew I heard the dirty projectors influence and then 7:44 happened.. If you haven't checked out that band you should.. they had two female backing singers that did that vocal thing a lot
Here because I they supported Jack Johnson in 2013 and haven't stopped listening since.
🙌🙌

19:18 - camera guy has no idea Christine is playing that guitar solo & not Afie.
That's more likely the fault of the director or the editor.

Can we please talk about the Jason Tait on drums! Awesome!
We most certainly can, Nathan! Great drummer, great performance!
I was looking for this comment! of course everyone there was incredible, but damn the drums tied it all together so well!
Fabulous harmonies.
That's IT ! Live off the floor, real and magical as can be. I wished we could have all enjoyed Afi's and the bands reactions after each take.
BEAUTIFUL SOUND
