I wouldn't recommend downloading it. I used it for about a year, earned enough credits for a Valorant giftcard, and was ready to make the purchase. However, the giftcards were always out of stock and I tried for several months to get one but never got one, so I just deleted the app. There are only shit giftcards to games no one plays

The problem with viper was never that she was op or broken but the fact that she had no competition , no other agent was able to do what she was doing , she had no replacement .

Removing 1 snake bite already and decreasing smoke time a lot has already made it hell to play viper in ranked and add onto that the orb pickup and the agent is almost useless except on her main maps on breeze and icebox. Used to be a viper main for a long time but all of these nerfs stacked up has made it extremely difficult to play viper when you can even play brim who would provide better value right now in ranked.

The problem is, if there is ever such an agent, everyone in pro play would pick both of them. Think about it, why wouldn't you want 2 Vipers on your team? If 2 agents like Viper were on a team, the attacking team would never break through your defenses and it would be busted af I don't know about ranked, everyone there is just braindead and every team comp ends up being Iso, Chamber, Clove, Jett Reyna or maybe a Gekko if u're lucky. In a larger map where wall smokes are primary necessity people have no choice but to go for viper because she can provide for stall as well as her wall . Harbor is too weak to be considered as competition for her .
Riot is unironically so very terrible at understanding what makes an agent weak or strong in either ranked or pro play, which is why they keep missing with their balancing so often
Pro Play and Ranked are so fundamentally different that it‘s extremely hard to balance an agents abilitys for both simultaneously. They do try to not make a agent power creep by only buffing them slightly. However their reworks tend to overtune all the time
schwerzeli is right. Also keep in mind that a one-dimensional meta would be boring. I agree that they made an oopsie with keeping Astra, Viper and Chamber so dominant for so long but it made for some of the coolest metas IMO

Killjoy before there was a range limit to her turret and alarm bot, together with them being up when she died just like Cypher trips at the time. Literally unless you dedicated a smoke for it, you weren't flanking a team with a KJ turret
You forgot about how OP Sage was. The wall was infinite hp, the slows lasted so long and covered more area, you could heal yourself and your teammates to full health no matter what as well as the cool down for the heal being a lot shorter. And the rez was less orbs. The old Sage and old Raze on the old Split was legit a nightmare and still gives me the chills today…

Thank you for pointing out the stuff regarding Astra's cooldowns. It was insane to me that when Riot announced that she was getting her 5th star back, people were worried that we would enter another period of Astra dominance, when in fact, that almost certainly won't be happening due to the nerfed cooldowns and suck. People also tend to forget that Omen used to just be terrible at the time, with a very delayed smoke travel time and slower TPs. Also maybe you just didn't want to ramble for too long so I totally get it, but it would've been worth mentioning the phase where she could sell her star to buy a stinger on pistol round.
sage in beta contests prime jett. instant full health wall with more hp than a wall now, 2x the slow orb size and a heal that works on yourself at 100%. yeah this was a busted one.
You’re forgetting how busted Sage was. Being able to walk across the map, a full heal for yourself or someone else, and a revive made her a must pick on every team in ranked for a long time.
No one didn’t use viper until Early of 2021 or late 2020 when nAts pioneered Viper and Cypher with their underwhelming Util. Everyone followed nAts when he introduced to the world with his lurking skills and his gameplay about lurking and flanking in anyway. Viper is still considered as a must pick agent with cypher until the new map change on Sunset. I believe Cypher’s pick rate will go down or up depending on the effects on the new change.
I started playing when Jett meta was still ongoing and I didn't have any other agent other than the default agents because I didn't know how to unlock agents atm so I always picked Jett as I liked her design the most and my friends would get mad at me when I instalock her even though I play badly lmao

The thing with riot games is, that they dont need to play their own game to balance it (officially said by them in league of legends), so they just see how things work out in their communities games. Now some can say that it's okay but for me the main problem is that there will randomly come up with big buffs or changes like ares or viper buffs that overshoot the intended thoughts on the buffs. Some changes could easily been seen as too much before release if they just took a little more care in looking into the numbers and gameplay. So yeah game companies Will always use their player base for the testing of changes but so many ridiculous buffs shouldn't have happened at all if riot would actually do their work (I'm also talking about League of Legends)
The ares accuracy was the best as someome like me who uses ares and odin a lot, I dont have good aim like most fps players im not good at one tapping with phantom, guardian, vandal or even using snipers thats why I use ares and odin and just spray. That meta was so op that a lot of player used it so much

If something like double nade raze is included, ehy not after death killjoy or cypher killcam? Every sentinel till deadlock had an ability that completely broke the game at least pre release. We could also go back to a sage meta in her being broken again, possibly stronger wall, have her old heal back, slow orb buffs who knows. Harbor, idk what you'd really do with him, shorter cooldowns? idk. I mostly agree with you; you make excellent points and I think you're right about Phoenix/Sage, but i do think Astra is really strong atm. I myself am an Astra main and have been playing her ever since I started playing the game. I admit that it was harder to play Astra during the time where she had 4 stars, but right now, with her five stars, she's really good. I think she suffers from the same thing you mentioned with Deadlock, where Astra just suffers from bad pr and people don't seem to realise how easy it is to get value with her kit. I could be very wrong tho, as my experience is heavily biased by the fact that I usually play with two, sometimes even four other people, which makes comboing a ton easier.
@@larryschutter the biggest problem with Astra imo is that she thrives in an organized setting, particularly when you have insight into how the enemy team likes to play, so the gap between her effectiveness in pro play vs soloQ is astronomical. You can have a really well thought out plan, but then your duelist will run in and die before your stun goes off then proceed to not listen to you again for the rest of the match

The main reason I believe is the way players play Jett. Cloudbursts, numbers getting reduced only has caused players to use those a bit wisely, but you don't lose something really essential. The reduced duration of cloudbursts doesn't take away any impact again if you always used those like escape/entry smokes to block enemy vision. If you used Jett as a duelist and not a controller cloudbursts Nerf don't actually feel like a Nerf. If you talk about the updrafts, yes I'd say that it was what made Jett really broken by giving her the reach to some unexpected cheesy spots and angles. Double updraft kills were something which actually was an unfair advantage over other agents. Hence, this Nerf doesn't harm Jett at the least. Now, about the dash, if you used Jett wisely you would know what are the situations where you might need to activate your dash. It was also a broken thing about Jett which allowed players to be casual since they knew they could get out of a rather impossible angle to escape easily. So it's also not a big Nerf. Use the dash more wisely! Finally right click knives, again, if you have good aim you may not need right click at all, but ofc in too close range you can right click. So use it as a last resort instead of spamming right click in combination with dash (to get in a sufficiently closer range). The only unfair Nerf I think is the 8 point ult instead of 7. I mean yes it's a real big Nerf to motivate players to not instalock Jett, but it is already ingrained in us Jett players, whatever Nerf you put or however unplayable you make her, we are still gonna instalock her ;)
Buffs takes 1000hr of play time which is like a 2 whole year you will start earning money by the time you get 1000vp from buff So worth a try but dont hope
Tbh my main issues with the game remain iso and the running girl. Considering that Valorant has random spray patterns, idk how anyone thought it would be a good idea to make someone invulnerable to getting one tapped in the head. The running girl is just plain stupid for a tactical shooter. One could actually instalock her and drag out without ever learning the basic shooting mechanics.

The Orb Pickup denial is a big Pro play Nerf but doesnt really affect Ranked as heavily

Mainly, i think a phoenix, sage or deadlock meta may come soon, because they're so bad atm and valorant never knows when to stop with the buffs or nerfs, like how they just destroyed skye from being the best initiator, how they destroyed astra to where she's the worst if not second worst seeing as harbor still sucks, and with what happened with peak chamber where he stayed meta for way too long with no changes because he was so op on release they didn't know what to do with him. And i think that if they buff deadlock, phoenix or sage into meta defining agents then they'll be too afraid to nerf them because they don't want them back in the position they're in rn.

I mostly agree with you; you make excellent points and I think you're right about Phoenix/Sage, but i do think Astra is really strong atm. I myself am an Astra main and have been playing her ever since I started playing the game. I admit that it was harder to play Astra during the time where she had 4 stars, but right now, with her five stars, she's really good. I think she suffers from the same thing you mentioned with Deadlock, where Astra just suffers from bad pr and people don't seem to realise how easy it is to get value with her kit. I could be very wrong tho, as my experience is heavily biased by the fact that I usually play with two, sometimes even four other people, which makes comboing a ton easier.

@@larryschutter the biggest problem with Astra imo is that she thrives in an organized setting, particularly when you have insight into how the enemy team likes to play, so the gap between her effectiveness in pro play vs soloQ is astronomical. You can have a really well thought out plan, but then your duelist will run in and die before your stun goes off then proceed to not listen to you again for the rest of the match

The main reason I believe is the way players play Jett. Cloudbursts, numbers getting reduced only has caused players to use those a bit wisely, but you don't lose something really essential. The reduced duration of cloudbursts doesn't take away any impact again if you always used those like escape/entry smokes to block enemy vision. If you used Jett as a duelist and not a controller cloudbursts Nerf don't actually feel like a Nerf.
If you talk about the updrafts, yes I'd say that it was what made Jett really broken by giving her the reach to some unexpected cheesy spots and angles. Double updraft kills were something which actually was an unfair advantage over other agents. Hence, this Nerf doesn't harm Jett at the least.
Now, about the dash, if you used Jett wisely you would know what are the situations where you might need to activate your dash. It was also a broken thing about Jett which allowed players to be casual since they knew they could get out of a rather impossible angle to escape easily. So it's also not a big Nerf. Use the dash more wisely!
Finally right click knives, again, if you have good aim you may not need right click at all, but ofc in too close range you can right click. So use it as a last resort instead of spamming right click in combination with dash (to get in a sufficiently closer range).
The only unfair Nerf I think is the 8 point ult instead of 7. I mean yes it's a real big Nerf to motivate players to not instalock Jett, but it is already ingrained in us Jett players, whatever Nerf you put or however unplayable you make her, we are still gonna instalock her ;)

Tbh my main issues with the game remain iso and the running girl. Considering that Valorant has random spray patterns, idk how anyone thought it would be a good idea to make someone invulnerable to getting one tapped in the head. The running girl is just plain stupid for a tactical shooter. One could actually instalock her and drag out without ever learning the basic shooting mechanics.
