    Soto has never won an MVP or a Gold Glove, but somehow he's worth $700 million?! Atleast with Ohtani, he generates millions of revenue for the ball club he's on. Soto doesn't. Absolutely ridiculous.

      They projected Ohtani will make the Dodgers over 1 billion in revenue of the life of his contract ... Talk about a dam bargain! Sluto will be lucky to generate 1/10 of Ohtani! PMSL muppet player and muppet team that signs him.

      and he does not generate revenue for the organization outside of the baseball such as advertising or cooperate contracts, and he does not attract as many fans as Shohei.
      It feels like they are trying sooo hard to convince themselves.

    I agree in that there should have been more 300M+ deals. Then several 400M, 500 and 600M. Going from tops of 360M right to 700M two years straight is nuts. I'd still want him on my team.

    Mets are going to be saddled with debts for many years to come because of this 700mil+ contract. He's not a superstar like Ohtani and will not draw any new fans which means no new revenue for the team.

  • @jdsthird
    @jdsthird Месяц назад +22

    700 million plus for Soto is INSANE. He’s just a glorified DH. A 26 year old who can’t run the bases or play defense. Never has. Even when he was 19. This won’t end well.

    • @bhamilton32
      @bhamilton32 Месяц назад +1

      He’s getting paid for consistency. Soto’s last two years in NY and San Diego are nearly identical. Soto doesn’t strike out, works the count, gets on base and you can count on 100+ RBI’s and 40+ HRs and you count him to be in the lineup for 150+ games a year . For his age and production value , he’s worth it

    • @jdsthird
      @jdsthird Месяц назад +2

      @ Depends on what the owner and team values. Obviously not all teams think he’s worth it. They tapped out at 600 million. Successful franchises who have recently won at the highest level tapped out. This tells us the remaining teams and owners are desperate. It takes more than one glorified young DH to win. As the Yankees and Padres experiment you mentioned taught us.

      Moronic hater response! His defense was pretty decent this year and with his amazing arm he threw dimes to get runners out at 2nd and home repeatedly! So your post is false and you won't age well! DH? He's not a DH... Shohei is!

    Soto is going to get 700 M +. But if he doesnt win a MVP and World Series, the contract will be a failure. Hes going to fail to make the amount of money shohei does for a organization so lets get that out the way. This is beyond a Overpay. Only way to redeem is win a World Series and MVP.

    All a team can do is break even on a deal like this. Even if he's top 3 MVP every year , you would get what you payed for. Anything less on any year is you as a team getting cheated out of your money. These are almost always bad deals even tho the athlete is superstar.

    the discussion itself is ridiculous. Soto does not hit as many HR as Shohei(a lot less), Soto’s defense is much below average, Soto does not steal bases, Soto has never won an MVP, and oh yeah, Soto doesn’t pitch. And if he gets a bigger or as big contract than Shohei, that’s ridiculous. His prime doesn’t count because he is already in his prime and what he has proven so far is those listed above.

      Sounds like your a big hater and a jealous baby! Let's not forget.. Shohei didn't win his first MVP until he was 27 years old! 23-26 his hitting was no where near Sotos hitting! What I see studying baseball is that when players get near their 30s and early 30s is when the most home runs come in! When Soto is 30 he will probably hit 60+ home runs! Shohei isn't pitching, keeps getting injured to start seasons and he may end up being a huge mistake! Without Freeman the Dodgers and Shoheis low performance would've lost the World Series!

    No way. All he can do is get on base. He’s never hit more than 40hr till this year. He will NEVER LEAD THE LEAGUE IN BA, HR, RBI’s or SB. Just on base %. What skill set? He gets a walk? He has no speed to steal a base. Good luck going from 1st to 3rd on a hit or score from 1st on a double. Bobby Witt is worth more than Soto. Soto can’t even field lol. Suckers will pay more $600. Imo a 14yr $560m is top end for him

    This all assumes that he is the age that he is documented. I know immigrants who are not their listed age for one reason or another. Not saying it's nefarious or anything but it does happen and you can't go back and change it...just saying. So w/e team signs him better have a private eye determine he is 100% age 26.
