I heard Eva Sing this song the first time the week of my best friend's funeral. Trulisa died after a 5yr battle with Inflamatory breast cancer..what an appropriate song for your wife to have chosen. The love is there! Eva died of Cancer also.
My wife and I fell in love to this song and it was our wedding song 10 years ago. And 6 weeks ago I played it at her funeral after 6 years of cancer. We are still in love.

It’s very difficult to lose a parent. My mother passed lastnight, she was 92. I sat with her and sang to her, knowing it would probably be the last time I would hear her heart, and feel the warmth of her skin. I’m sure I told her I loved her a million times. So this song has always touched me but it has an even stronger significance to me now. “I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before.” Rest in peace mama.
My daughter passed away 4 weeks ago from ovarian cancer and we had this song sung at her funeral. She was 21. We miss her so much. Every time I play song now I feel close to her.

Hey, I just felt like sharing my story, so my mum gave birth to me when she was around 16, lets just say she didn't know how to care for a baby, because of that my grandma took care of me most of the time and sort of became a mother to me. She got diagnosed with cancer when I was 2 and was told she didn't have long left to live. My dad wasn't really in the picture but my mom started to care for me more, we moved away from my grandparents so my mum could continue with her studying. I don't have many memories from those years since I was so young, but I do remember almost always listening to Eva Cassidy when my grandma was visiting, when I was 6 and and was around 4 months into school my mum got a message saying we had to come to the hospital as fast as posible, because my grandma had gotten alot sicker alot sooner then they thought she would, which then again was fair thinking back to the fact she lived 4 years more then they thought she would. I remember getting to the hospital and seeing her on the bed, she was coughing up blood while trying to explain to me that the doctors were going to give her something to help her fall asleep and that when she closed her eyes she would never open them again, that's around when I started crying and I was trying to tell her that all she had to do was just not go to sleep and she'd live forever, she told me she loved me and would watch over me as an angel in heaven and we'd meet again soon. I remember being dragged out of the room while crying and trying to tell her to not go to sleep, I also for some weird reason remember every detail of the waiting room they put me in and keep in mind this was 8 years ago. Her dying was to me like losing a mother, ofc I have a strong bond with my bio mum but I still miss my grandma like a mum and Eva Cassidy's songs and covers always makes me think of her. I'm now 8 years later diagnosed with deppression, anxiety, trauma and ptsd, granted there are other reasons but this is the Main one. Eva Cassidy has really helped me growing up without that big part missing in my life and has helped me feel connected to my grandmother. Now I know I'm only 14 but after seeing how hard my grandma faught to stay alive for the family and mostly me, I can tell you all that life is hard but it'll only get better if you fight, if you give up in all the small battles life throughs at you, you'll never win the war we call life If you're still here and have read the whole thing, thank you for taking the time to listen to what I had to say it really means alot to me😊💜 So it's now 2024, I commented on this but it's probably hard to find, my life has indeed been interesting and I've grown alot, i turn 18 in a few days and I've read several of your replies throughout the years, I went thru alot more struggles which was expected. I absolutely still listen to Eva and miss my grandma very much. Thank you all for your kind words and support it has helped me alot when I felt alone and didn't have anyone that understood what I was feeling in my life. I'm glad to say I'm going back to school this year, most likely moving in with my wonderful and lovely partner later this year who's always willing to listen when I miss my grandma. I have more friends that are there for me and my dad is back in my life trying to make up for lost time, he's grown as well and is a wonderful father to me when I'm not okay💜
Hello Leah, Your post has moved me very much. You have already been through so much and at 14 you’re only just starting out in life. Your Grandmother obviously loved you so very much and would have fought very hard to stay with here you, but couldn’t , but unconditional love like that never really goes away, it’s always there in your heart to tap into, grief is a lonely path, I speak from experience, and there’s no guide book to do it, it is what it is...heartbreaking. I do know that your grandma would want you to live a long and happy life , and to remember the happy special times you had with her , one day you’ll remember her with more smiles than tears , i still talk to my dad like he’s still here, and I’m sure he is hearing every word. You will always miss her , but I promise the pain gets softer with time... Much love xxx

The thing that has brought me to the place of great success in life through all my difficulties was the knowledge that there is a personal God in heaven who adores every cell of (my) your being. One day I laid my life at His feet when I was about your age (that was 43 years ago). His name is Jesus Christ, He was a man, He heals the broken hearted and wants to set your captive heart free into your full potential in life. He did it for me - talk to Him - His arms are not too short to save, He will come and meet you wherever you are at. You may think your life is dirty somehow, but He says, “You may think your ‘house’ is dirty but Come, Leah - Take a walk with me”, and when you get back to your house it’s all cleaned up. His Holy Spirit will come in and clean all the cobwebs out of the rooms of your soul, and flush in with fresh spring air. Receive His everlasting love into your heart - pray to Him and say, “Lord, forgive my sins, I need You as my Savior. Come into my heart and live, and give me everlasting Life!” Amen. I love you!! All the stories here have been so sad and heart-wrenching, but yours is the one that finally moved me to tears. It reminded me of the sadness I've always felt bcz I was never able to have that kind of moment with my father when he passed, before or after. But I have felt his loving presence with me since then, and so I know that HE now knows how much love for him there is, was and will always be in my heart. So, so sorry for your loss, hon, but when you are able to feel more than grief, you may feel him with you again as well.

Really weird thing happened today. But first I would just like to say I lost my wife on Sunday and my heart is completely torn apart. But today on the way to the funeral parlour where my beautiful wife came today, I was driving and talking to my sister, when the conversation ended the radio station was BBC Wales(are favourite place in the world Wales) now I live in Manchester, god knows why that station was on, it's not even in my presets, but even better Songbirds was playing, within seconds I new it was my wife telling me she wants this song for her funeral, beautiful choice by my wife, thank you Eva for this beautiful song.

I chose this beautiful song to be played at my dad’s funeral two months ago. He was not only the most wonderful dad, but my best friend and real life hero. He died of oesophageal cancer, a year after he lost his wife - my mum - after nursing her for years as she deteriorated with Parkinson’s disease. They were an incredibly positive couple whose lights shone so brightly. So many happy memories ❤️❤️❤️
I feel that this is the most beautiful, soul haunting song performance I have ever heard in my 84 years of life and cry my heart out when I listen to it realizing how Eva left us at such a young age with such incredible youthful talent. It also reminds me of my own wife who has recently passed away and I plan on playing Eva's song at my wife's funeral

My Mum Kathy chose this song to be played at her funeral when she was diagnosed with terminal stage 3 ovarian cancer. My great grandfather past away nearly a month ago,we were the best duo and the bestest of friends,he told me so many little stories that I can’t wait to tell my little baby’s. He allways made sure everyone had a smile on their face.It was me n him allways and this song was played at his funeral, as much as it hurts I listern to this song and play back his amazing memories in my head. When my friend told me about her sister’s cancer returning, l played this song often for many months thinking of her and praying for a miracle. Her beautiful sister took the hand her mother in Heaven offered her last night. She is now resting in her mother’s loving arms once again. 😇

I am so sad to hear about everyone's loss associated with this song. I played it at my wedding. It is one of my favourite songs and still gives me memories of my beautiful day. Eva's Songbird was my sister's favorite song during her long battle with cancer. She lost her battle at the age of 55, but when I hear this song I miss her very much.
I bet they are from a lot of Christine Movie fans who can't be open enough to appreciate another version of the song. I too love Christine McVie but Eva owns this song now.
Eva Cassidy..she was the most amazingly wonderful artist and I first heard her song..Over The Rainbow from the movie Alpha Dog..her perfect pitch ..her guitar playing..just takes me to a most beautiful serene place..which I pray she is resting there now..thank you Eva..

This is a beautiful song and my husband played it constantly. I played it at his funeral in 2015. It was beautiful. I missed in so much and couldn’t bear to hear the song until one day at a wedding reception a young girl was singing it and it brought so many memories!

Losing a loved one is the most painful thing to ever happen. I lost my friend and daughter in 2011. It seems like yesterday. What a soothing song. Let's all be comforted.
It’s very difficult to lose a parent. My mother passed lastnight, she was 92.
I sat with her and sang to her, knowing it would probably be the last time I would hear her heart, and feel the warmth of her skin. I’m sure I told her I loved her a million times. So this song has always touched me but it has an even stronger significance to me now.

Hey, I just felt like sharing my story, so my mum gave birth to me when she was around 16, lets just say she didn't know how to care for a baby, because of that my grandma took care of me most of the time and sort of became a mother to me. She got diagnosed with cancer when I was 2 and was told she didn't have long left to live. My dad wasn't really in the picture but my mom started to care for me more, we moved away from my grandparents so my mum could continue with her studying. I don't have many memories from those years since I was so young, but I do remember almost always listening to Eva Cassidy when my grandma was visiting, when I was 6 and and was around 4 months into school my mum got a message saying we had to come to the hospital as fast as posible, because my grandma had gotten alot sicker alot sooner then they thought she would, which then again was fair thinking back to the fact she lived 4 years more then they thought she would. I remember getting to the hospital and seeing her on the bed, she was coughing up blood while trying to explain to me that the doctors were going to give her something to help her fall asleep and that when she closed her eyes she would never open them again, that's around when I started crying and I was trying to tell her that all she had to do was just not go to sleep and she'd live forever, she told me she loved me and would watch over me as an angel in heaven and we'd meet again soon. I remember being dragged out of the room while crying and trying to tell her to not go to sleep, I also for some weird reason remember every detail of the waiting room they put me in and keep in mind this was 8 years ago. Her dying was to me like losing a mother, ofc I have a strong bond with my bio mum but I still miss my grandma like a mum and Eva Cassidy's songs and covers always makes me think of her. I'm now 8 years later diagnosed with deppression, anxiety, trauma and ptsd, granted there are other reasons but this is the Main one. Eva Cassidy has really helped me growing up without that big part missing in my life and has helped me feel connected to my grandmother.
Now I know I'm only 14 but after seeing how hard my grandma faught to stay alive for the family and mostly me, I can tell you all that life is hard but it'll only get better if you fight, if you give up in all the small battles life throughs at you, you'll never win the war we call life

So it's now 2024, I commented on this but it's probably hard to find, my life has indeed been interesting and I've grown alot, i turn 18 in a few days and I've read several of your replies throughout the years, I went thru alot more struggles which was expected. I absolutely still listen to Eva and miss my grandma very much. Thank you all for your kind words and support it has helped me alot when I felt alone and didn't have anyone that understood what I was feeling in my life. I'm glad to say I'm going back to school this year, most likely moving in with my wonderful and lovely partner later this year who's always willing to listen when I miss my grandma. I have more friends that are there for me and my dad is back in my life trying to make up for lost time, he's grown as well and is a wonderful father to me when I'm not okay💜

Your Grandmother obviously loved you so very much and would have fought very hard to stay with here you, but couldn’t , but unconditional love like that never really goes away, it’s always there in your heart to tap into, grief is a lonely path, I speak from experience, and there’s no guide book to do it, it is what it is...heartbreaking.
I do know that your grandma would want you to live a long and happy life , and to remember the happy special times you had with her , one day you’ll remember her with more smiles than tears , i still talk to my dad like he’s still here, and I’m sure he is hearing every word. You will always miss her , but I promise the pain gets softer with time...

Hi so sorry for your loss, may you find comfort in the remembrance of the good times you've shared.
All the stories here have been so sad and heart-wrenching, but yours is the one that finally moved me to tears. It reminded me of the sadness I've always felt bcz I was never able to have that kind of moment with my father when he passed, before or after.
But I have felt his loving presence with me since then, and so I know that HE now knows how much love for him there is, was and will always be in my heart.

Really weird thing happened today. But first I would just like to say I lost my wife on Sunday and my heart is completely torn apart. But today on the way to the funeral parlour where my beautiful wife came today, I was driving and talking to my sister, when the conversation ended the radio station was BBC Wales(are favourite place in the world Wales) now I live in Manchester, god knows why that station was on, it's not even in my presets, but even better Songbirds was playing, within seconds I new it was my wife telling me she wants this song for her funeral, beautiful choice by my wife, thank you Eva for this beautiful song.

I chose this beautiful song to be played at my dad’s funeral two months ago. He was not only the most wonderful dad, but my best friend and real life hero. He died of oesophageal cancer, a year after he lost his wife - my mum - after nursing her for years as she deteriorated with Parkinson’s disease. They were an incredibly positive couple whose lights shone so brightly. So many happy memories ❤️❤️❤️

Thankyou Jamie for spending those days with me after you had died, it is my only comfort to know you still exist, your then 6 years old nephew you loved dearly, now 19, still speaks of seeing you and speaking with you. I don't know how you managed it, but you were just the same as a week earlier and somehow knew my every thought, and communicated in some unknown way, like thought transferance, is the only way l can describe it. Thankyou my beloved son ,you proved that LOVE NEVER DIES.
