Opus 88 makes a quality product every time. I've yet to be disappointed by one, it's a massive upset that so many don't post. Twsbi will always be a no go unless of course its the twsbi go which is frankly the only twsbi worth money. The lamy studio has been a huge surprise for me, it's even better with the gold nib. The 2000 is phenomenal. I'm still angry I let my hatred for the safari keep me from trying higher quality lamy pens for so long. Great vid.
Aside from the Lamy 2000 until the studio, I hardly ever picked up any other Lamy. I don’t mind that Opus 88 don’t post, as I love the jigger diameters. Thanks for watching.
Just started with fountain pens this year, but I love the Diplomat Aero in a F nib. Rights beautifully, puts down the perfect amount of ink, I got the orange and black version and I love the weight in my hand. Took me a little to get use to the completely smooth collar though where you hold the pen when writing.
I keep seeing the diplomat, but I really want to hold one before I commit, but I have a feeling I will end up owning one at some point. Any idea what one you will add to your new collection in the future?
Very nice choices. I added quite a few pens to my collection this year. A few favorites are Little Pen Designs „Candy Nougat Petrol“, Franklin Christoph LE Model 55 „Salmon Glow“ and Esterbrook Estie „King of the Night“. For 2025 I‘d like to get a Bonecrusher7Studio pen and a Just Turnings pen as well as a few nibs with specialized grinds as well as a Monoc nib. Thanks for the video.
The Lamy Studio is one of my personal favorites, both for the ease in the hand and that terrific clip. I now have two of them: the original black, and a newer sparkly brown. Good choice, thanks.
I just started this hobby in March of 2024, but I love my Esterbrook Estie in tortoise with a journalers nib and paired with Ferris Wheel Press’ Velvet Ballet. But hands down my favorite is my Pilot Custom 823 in Amber with a F nib. I have it inked up with Beaver Dam Brown also by FWP. Favorite inks this year were Dominate Industry Harbor of Dieppe, Monarca’s Rey Jaguar, and every Wearingeul ink I tried. Idk if I could even narrow down to a top 10. 😂 I love my Opus 88 as well. Such a great writing experience every time.
You definitely have a great setup for being new to the hobby. My 823 in Amber Fine is always filled with Montblanc Toffee Brown. It is one of my favorite pens. My wife loves the Wearingeul Pride and Prejudice ink. The Opus 88 nib tuning is just superb and keeps me wanting to get more. Thanks for watching.
Now, if you had a top 10 list instead, how would you rank the Opus 88s and Asvines? Would the the Opuses(Opi?), rank sequentially as the top 4, and the Asvines would take spots 8-10?
Thanks for watching. My only non vintage Esterbrook at the moment is the Raven, but it is a great writer. My wife loves her Estie oversize in Petrified Forest.
I almost had a KOP luminous shadow fog come home with me from NYC, but that one only came in medium. I love the brown inks lately. My 823 always stays inked with Montblanc Toffee Brown.
I just got a Pilot CH 92 with medium nib and I’m loving it! Inked with Yama guri. My favourite inks this year are Sailor Manyo Ume and Inkebara Deer Brown.
The Opus 88 took me by surprise. I need to own as many as possible now. As for the Studio, I am a sucker for an all black pen. My Sailor 1911 is the black luster edition.
@@dwrdnet I’m looking at the studio because I dislike the grip on the Al-star but enjoy the nibs. As for the Opus, I love the idea of being able to swap inks easily. But I have to calm down next year buying pens! I hope you enjoy your 92!
The triangle grip is a love or hate thing for sure. The Studio nib is better by far in my view. I have not yet needed to clean out an Opus 88, but I know that will be so much nicer than dealing with a vac filler.
Well, Dang it D, another subject to be interested in and have you as the go to of the info!! I’m digging the Sheaffer Coffee edition, going to pair it with the darkest blue I can find for those legal signings . Say hey to B for me!
Good video. I am surprised that I have all five and also place my Opus 88 Koloro at the top. I use many different inks in my koloro withvacfine nib. Based on your video I now plan to try an extra fine In the new Opuss 88 demonstrator. In 2025 the top spot may get changed by the Edison, Conklin 1898 or the Nahvalur Voyager. However, my best extra fines are my TWSBI's and the Esterbrook Jr withvan EF nib.
The Opus 88 nibs are all tuned so well, I might end up getting most to put on some of my other pens that take Jowo nibs. Check out Vanness Pens, as they have had some of the Opus 88 on a small discount at times. Thanks for watching.
Great video! I'd prefer there to be no background music, but I can still hear you. It's always great to come across more people who love fountain pens and you have a few favourites that I haven't tried, so I'm now inspired to try a new models. (Especially the Lamy studio) My favourite pens this year have been 1. Pelikan m1005 in Stresemann with a B 18k nib, 2. Scribo feel in glicine with a fine 18k nib, Diplomat excellence A" in skyline blue with a steel B nib.
I have had some other feedback about the music as well, so I will experiment with no music as well. I have a M805 Stresemann with an EF, and I love it. I have had my eye on the Diplomat pens as well, so that might be a 2025 addition. Thanks for watching.
@@dwrdnet Lower volume might also work. The music was lovely in itself. I agree, the m805 is a fantastic pen. Great size, and Pelikan nibs are so smooth and write very wet. It's even a little bouncy! THe capping mechanism on the Diplomat excellence A2 is very satisfying.
@dwrdnet Yes, I'm fascinated by it too. It looks so good! I'm hoping you will make a review of it if you get one. I have a Parker 51, and like it just fine, but I don't love it. It's too thin for my liking. The Viper looks a lot like it, but cooler, if you ask me. It's strange, because I do like the Lamy 2000 even though that is a small pen with a slimmer grip section as well. I think the weight of the Diplomat Viper might be a plus.
Hey, I've stumbled upon your channel thru RUclips recommendations. In my honest opinion the piano in the background is too loud and distracting. Keep up the good work :)
So that is actually the bookshelves in my office. I am still trying to figure out a better background, but that is one of the things on the list that I want to improve as I continue to make videos. Thanks for watching.
Ok, that makes more sense. While the bookcase could look like an upright piano with the angles etc, I was a little confused. I am still trying to figure out the background music vs spoken audio, so thanks for the feedback.

I haven't really used the clip yet, but it just keeps getting better the more I write with it.

Demo, Omar, Koloro, Minty, and for the Asvine, V200, V126,, P30
Great video. I like the format and the relaxed atmosphere. My favorite combo is my Esterbrook Estie in Funky Lake with Robert Oster's Bondi Blue ink.
Thanks for watching. My only non vintage Esterbrook at the moment is the Raven, but it is a great writer. My wife loves her Estie oversize in Petrified Forest.
My top 2024 pen is a KoP, filled with Sailor 680 (dark brown).

There are some great blues that would be perfect for closings.

I am intrigued by the Viper. One of my local stores has some in stock, so I want to put hands on one before I commit.

If I get one, I will definitely do a video. I tend to like larger barrel pens, but every so often, a smaller pen just "feels" right.
