- Ini Kamoze had one of the biggest reggae anthems of the 1990s. It was the culmination of a gruelling journey that began as a protege of Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare in the early 1980s.

Love this story was the first to put steppa in a song
Diamonds sound played most of the LP on dub plate before it was released Paul Smickles aka Groucho gave the tunes to Michael Jones who was the selector at the time. Groucho worked at Island records in Hammersmith as a sound engineer at the time. Ño other sounds had the lna Kamoza tunes at the time.
wonderful history of a system rebel
great artist
Great commentary, appreciate ur channel
I heard he’s been coming back recently with some collaborations but that’s the only thing I know about him currently since he dropped off the face of the earth after his last album in 2016
..."you're free to look but don't you dare stare, hear mi"
Beyoncé gave him writers credit for the part she sung at the end of the song baby boy sampling hot stepper
ok... i hope that means money in his pocket
The first L.P was massive
“Out in da streets they call it murder”
Nuff Respect...Do something on Wayne Smith if it hasn't been done...
His best work by far was the Ini Kamoze L.P proper roots and dubs....the rest was too pop, ish
LOL... I remember the Hot Steppers were a gang from East Kingston. It's funny how the name because famous.
He has at least 3 different tunes with the word Hot Stepper in the title, his cash cow is "Here Comes The Hot Stepper", "Hotstepper" is on the M16 riddim and a great tune but nowhere near as successful financially as a single. and my favourite is "Hot Stepper Returns" which is 1990 and came out on the "Selekta" label
Do Snow
In the pipeline 👍
Nah him and snow were sellouts with them big one hit wonder hits. Became so pop it was unbearable. I admit I did enjoy it first time around tho 😭
Snow cannot be a sellout when he was a white Canadian culture vulture, karaoke Barrington levy.
Ini kamozi is a great reggae artiste with undeniable hits.
I hated that song
😅
Really, I am curious to know why?
@@MrNanah38 i was a harcore dancehall fan @ that time only Yankees really played that song only sound i recall playing it was stone love i dont recall anyone cutting that on dub and the song was everywhere that summer and my aunt step son mixed the record that was his 1 big break
lol - me too. 1) because I liked the original version 2) the hot steppers were a gang whose men trained some of my elders so I just didn't like the name being made into like a gimmick... it wasn't his fault - but still..
@@Amidat facts i always said if Americans only really knew what he was talking about
2024 still a hit Wings with me me big up Elder INI KAMOZE
