forgive me, but you seem not to be honest. the leaves (ficus) WITHOUT BUDS will indeed have roots, but will never turn to trees having no poit of grow. it's not viola or zamioculcas! making people believe in your small trick you just steal their time and lead 'em to disappointment. (If it's still somehow possible - here's my immediate and sincere apologies!) People! cut the leaves off with a sharp knive with a piece of bark (and possibly wood) and a leaf bud. you'll have much more chances it'll work.

Rooted leaves won't put out new stem. It will have roots and can stay alive for years as a leaf and then just die. You will need to get some part of the stem for new shoots to happen

The leaf will root but it'll never grow a plant (I learnt the hard way). Don't waste your time with this method, take a proper cutting from the stem, cutting about 1-2cm below a node, and chopping off the bit at the top (note: you can make multiple cuttings from one branch).

If you want to propagate a plant from cuttings, make sure there are around 3 nodes and you remove the bottom leaves.

I've got the same result with a ficus benjamin leaf. It was amazing to see a new tree developing from that single leaf! You can have whole plants from leaf cuttings in many cases, such as basil, sanseveira and others.
Sorry to say that leaves will grow roots but will never grow as a plant unless the leaves are attached to a small portion of a branch. I have tried it many times.
Beautiful video. I have the same plant it has almost 15 leaves on it it likes it by the east window. I have 2 other rubber plants also getting tall . But the first one that has almost 15 leaves the stem is very thin the other two are thicker. Why is that ?

Is that a variegated fig tree or a variegated rubber tree?? The leaves are larger so I’m thinking rubber? This is fantastic!! I’m so going to try this... any special lighting used.

I have cut the top leaf of a ficus burgundy but i didn't cut the thorn that was going to be the next new leaf. It seems that it stopped growing but the rest leaves seem ok what is happening and can i fix it ?
U can grow roots from leaf nodes but it could not be turned into a plant or tree because there is no meristematic tissues on leaf nodes...

Nunca crecerá planta. Se queda así, no desarrollara tallo. No perdáis el tiempo
