Yes he was. I remember watching this and cracking up about the chilito joke. I always remembered that when people ordered that when I worked at Taco Bell
George really put on for the Mexican people. He’s only getting hate because he didn’t support new Mexico decent comedians ,but he’s not required to do so if he doesn’t want to.
Him, Paul Rodriguez and the late Freddie Prinze were all given the green light by Johnny during their appearances and went on to have successful careers. Hispanic comics got their dues on the Tonight Show.
That was strange. George did great n broke everyone off and yet Johnny did t give him the come on over gretting. Hmmm, can someone say jealousy and or discrimination
Yo I’m 34 and I’m a huge fan of GL!!! I had no idea he was on Carson. I loved seeing him on Letterman but he seemed a little nervous on there compared to this!!
Funny how Julio'Fluffy'Iglesias mentions India being not different than Mexico, now my first time seeing this performance and it's so true, no wonder my Puerto Rican ass got mistaken more then once for being Egyptian or middle eastern.

Probably not your taste, but understand that stereotypes is what everyone was doing, and there is nothing wrong with it to this day. You just have to do it where the audience likes you. If everyone overanalyzed everything to find ppl doing politically incorrect things, everybody would be in trouble, and I mean EVERYONE. But yeah. His wife divorced him after giving him another kidney.
Had no idea he was able to be on the Johnny Carson show, the man has definitely put in his time.

People in LA got this guy regardless of background. Everyone here knows at least a few Mexican-American phrases.
Just loving this series of first appearances, thank you so much. Am hoping you’ll find Don Rickles first appearance, now that would be fab.
Good set last joke did not land so well but he got some good laughs 😆 and so did i
Yeah Johnny didn’t invite him to “the couch”
That was cool!!
George Lopez and those eyes 👁️👁️ wide open
Lord forbid we have comedy like this now a days😂😂 I miss when stuff could just be funny
Looks like carlos Mencia when he came out
Funny Guy!
This isn’t very funny too he honest
Kinda repeated his jokes throughout his prime years notice that not too bad
Hes okay. Clean good humor. But fluffy is way funnier

At the end of the video, I think Carson gave the okay sign.
He's always had a gigantic head.
Stayed young looking for years!
Stole his wife's kidney and ripped her heart out by cheating on her
@@WTC7 well millions cheat. Nothing new.
@@WTC7😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@WTC7 omg, that’s not true, it’s a joke, and she has spoken about this.
Looking for the A-Okay from Johnny... Strong set, but kind of short.
No A-Okay sign but a hand wave from Johnny right at the end. Looks like Carson enjoyed the set pretty well.
@@Soylntgrnisppl Looks like an A-okay sign to me.
That was funny as hell. Just another comedian who went onto other well known successes all because of Mr Carson!!
Could his eyes get any wider?? 😂
Foreign substance???
Still laughing after all these years ❤
He was good. But Bob Newhart didn’t think so; he was clapping and looking right to Ed like ‘that wasn’t too funny’
I did not know he was on this show and it is 1991 and of course now over 30 years ago. Time flys

Happy heavenly 97th birthday, Mr. Johnny Carson! Thank you for all the late night laughter and fun!
Carson was by far the best host. Quit watching the Tonight Show after he left. Leno was the beginning of the end, in my opinion.
I though only forever young live in heavan..
@@arifmantias8216 Well, he had Billy Graham on. Maybe he learned the gospel from him. :)
@Mark56 Totally AGREE! I also never watched again. Just wasn't the same

Had no idea he was Johnny Carson...found our watching him on Jimmy Fallon
Yo quiero taco bell
Was in Mark Medoff's final project, the faith-based, "Who needs to pay extras?" Walking With Herb.
He doesn't have as much of an accent here.
Isn't this the guy who divorced his wife after she donated a kidney to him?
Yep he’s a self centered prick.
No, I believe he got the organ from a family member, like a cousin, that matched him.
Yes, his ex wife donated her kidney to George Lopez.
yes, she filed for divorce.
@@navyryder shoutout to Ann Serrano… just kidding no one’s gonna actually look into the real story
So this isn't funny it's really corny
it’s 1991.
Great Carson clip, but I want to see Bob, now he's FUNNY!!! 🌼
HOW COME I JUST FOUND THIS OUT RIGHT NOW? GEORGE LOPEZ ON THE JOHNNY CARSON SHOW!
WhatChaa!
I used to think George Lopez was the funniest guy ever
So good
Meh
Funny!
Big boy interview 👀 😂
His career took off later in life like Bernie Mac but his career has lasted long like Cedric’s.

Never liked this guy, he’s made a living talking about stereotypes
That's why he's funny. You better take a stool softener.
Pretty much doing what everyone else does.

I thought he was hilarious. I watched it twice in a row and laughed a lot. :)
Ummmm....so did Johnny Carson.
Never thought he was very funny. He should go on tour with Jerry Seinfeld and Sarah SilverMAN.
Sonny funny
He overstayed his welcome on stage. No Georgy boy, you did not get asked to the couch.
5 minutes is standard.
They paid him alot of money to Only say Mexican jokes.
How else could they get white people to laugh?
He didnt get paid.
