I had the same problem settling into this episode. Coming off the off-the-wall zaniness of the last one, the tone of this one made it really hard to get into. Plus I found the story itself was just not very engaging. I feel like this season was very uneven, and this episode was one of the reasons why. I get wanting to show us a world in which The Watcher actually felt the need to interfere, but I think that could have been handled better. But yeah, the The Ducks story was way more fun and entertaining to me. That said, the gravity thing was fine. Assuming the emergence of the celestial didn't have enough energy to actually scatter the pieces of the Earth in all directions (a LOT of energy), they would all stick together, because each of those parts has their own mass and would continue to attract each other. In fact, they would eventually pull themselves back together. And since conservation of momentum is a thing, they would continue to rotate around each other until that happened. Of course, none of this would happen without MASSIVE environmental damage and almost certainly the end of all life, so there's that. Yeah, not a great episode.
Not my favorite. After 4 episodes of peak silliness I appreciated a more serious one, but it's such an extreme setting that it feels like I missed a pilot and not many things about it really pulled me in.

Exactly!! Too much for me to rationalize.
