This is why Allison automatics are great. The power is always there when you need it and why it's fitted to heavy duty vehicle's like fire engines, buses, ambulances etc across the world as they are the most popular gearboxes.
It’s even more popular in the US. School buses over there only came with the Allison Transmission and they have never failed to deliver the performance of the buses.
I myself am now convinced this is a 6-speed after long believing this was a 5-speed. At first I believe when I was researching it wasn't explicit that a bus can have the 6-speed option so believed it to be 5-speed. If my counting is correct then the 6th kicks in at 0:30 but I don't mind being wrong and corrected.
This was on the overground replacement from stratford to richmond, right? Damnit, I saw that you were taking this bus out but on the monday after. Had hoped to get one of these when the replacement ran 2 weeks prior but only C10 vehicles were used
Sadly the allocation has changed to double deckers now - pity as I would have loved one of these to appear on the 22:15 Stratford to Richmond this Sunday!
@@KickdownLondon I presume this is to encourage social distancing or is it permanent? Either way it's a shame, only real time these get to stretch their legs (especially with you behind the wheel). Though would be nice to get a euro 4 E400 on this route too, maybe one of the euro 5 ones with a more power topodyn setup
These are closer to 9.5m. The 0-60 video was me driving a standard 5 speed Allison DE after a rail replacement job in Hertfordshire. Enjoyed that one too!
Great video.☺️ This must be the best Enviro 200 MMC that I’ve ever seen and heard. I’m so surprised that a Enviro 200 MMC could do this.☺️ This is better that the ones Stagecoach London has.☺️ What’s the reg?☺️ Edit: I just watched this video back and counted the number of times it changes gears and it’s 6 times which means it’s a 6 speed Gearbox.☺️
Off course an Enviro 200 MMC can do it. You just need to get a driver who's willing to thrash the bus, take you to your destination quickly and impress us bus enthusiasts.
@@londonbuses5472 I'll put some posts out on the enthusiast sites but there's only ever a slim chance at best of one making it out. Will try again in late September!
Awesome mmc your right about newer buses not having as much power as older buses and BTW all new London buses from 2019 being speed limited and companies like metroline and abellio limit there buses to like 40mph or lower
This batch do have kickdown switches, they act like normal Allison's until the switch is pressed I would know as I've ridden these beasts and have heard them downshift twice depending on what gear they're in
@@zakbyrd9636 Except these do have kickdown. As I said, they act like normal allison E200MMCs until the switch is activated then they downshift and/or hold their gears. A program cannot replicate a downshift on a flat surface and wont hold gears completely, it'll hold it for what is considered economical. Thats why this isnt program controlled, it will downshift on the flat and revs the same whether its on the flat or going up an incline with kickdown. Heck it even holds its gears like this going down an incline and I have video proof of that!
cbreezer15 I’m pretty sure there where more ALX400 from Abellio and Scanias, definitely remember a B7TL East Thames driven in snow aswell that I can’t find lol but yeah I’ve been about for years on your channel!!

Allison and the ZF gearboxes too

Their world class now but here in the UK they aren't mass fitted to buses anymore because of spec and emissions.
@@jaggass Cmon. Without Allison, all the newer buses will suffer from lower hp. Voith doesn’t have much hp, ZF Eco doesn’t have much hp.
Absolutely fantastic for a modern bus!! Sounds much better than the Voith equivalents! :P
Agreed! Not come across a Voither with kickdown yet, but it is possible to hold them to over 2600rpm!
LVideo1000 the voith equivalent sounds good when thrashed too, it gets up to full RPM. Shame they don’t have kickdown though.

Glad to have delivered!

All Euro 6 E200s from what I've ridden were all 6 speeders

This is the best batch of E200s that abellio ordered and you should try HCT Euro VI E200s they have kickdown
Please keep uploading videos mate! That was fucking beautiful, I couldn't stop listening to it in school :)
Will do, thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video ! The Trent Barton ones on the Nines are pretty similar to these just single door obviously
True. Best enviro in the fleet. I should know because I live on that route...
They don’t have kickdown either
Definitely 6 speed. Great video by the way.
Thanks!
I like the way the car overtakes the bus just to slow it down at 1:09 not. Typical car driver scared the bus is faster than it
33 seconds for full kickdown is very good for a 10.8 meter bus.

Most of the newer Abellio stuff is limited to about 45mph. Except the E200 MMCs - haven't yet found one limited to less than 60mph.

This bus is Now with Go Coach in Kent
This sounds nice
Nice sounds of E200MMC they actually are voith ZF
YasinBusEnthusiast2018 I swear that Voith and ZF are two different Gearboxes? Anyway, this bus has one of the newer Alison Gearboxes.
This one has a 6 speed Allison box.
cbreezer15 I know. I wish they still made the Allison AT-545 gearboxes so that they could add it to these buses, that would sound so cool.☺️
Joshua Hall a.k.a. Controlla true
Yes they were nice sounding boxes but best for town work.
Why does it sound like a Euro6 ZF enviro200
That's what I thought the very first time I rode one of these. The first gear does sort of resemble the unlocked ZF pullaway.
Damn!! 😍😍😍
nah alisson from like 2010 is 5 gears ur not wrong but new ones have more gears
Idk why they moved this bus to Go Coach
Its Allison hold gears
Its a shame abellio/TUK got rid of this batch
you can hear him damaging the engine slightly
Which point do you think you can hear the engine being damaged?
if you listen carefully you can hear it little bit as you watch more of the video
