Aw I'm glad it was helpful, Brei! I too want to try some colored pencil art which was sort of the inspo for the video. Excited to see what you make if you end up posting any of it 🥰
Thanks for watching, Josie ❤️ Sorry for the late response, life has been hectic 😮💨 but I definitely want to do one on top coats! I've just been waiting for a good time to test all the ones I have for longevity 😊
Heyy beautiful Cai 🩷🩷🩷!! These matte top coats are surprising me, I didn’t realize there were more than just thin or thick consistency!! Great comparison video and I would love a 3D gel video!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for watching, Jonique 🥰 I definitely want to do more of these! I don't know how often I can, but I'm planning on doing one for gel top coat and 3D gels.
I love that you included the ingredients when you could find them! Also, I bought the Modelones Matte top coat this year (June) and it's the same formulation. I had been told they were HEMA free so I didn't check it like I should have at the time, and was sort of disappointed when I realized it. :D However, I'll still use it up as a finish coat. I mostly wanted to get it to test if I like matte looks. I'm downsizing my supplies, so I'll be using up my Modelones and I got the Born Pretty HEMA free top/base coat so will be using those up and then getting only Korean formulations from there - the Born Pretty bottles are too tall for my favorite bottle organizer. lol! Since HEMA helps with shine and glassyness, I'm not surprised the budget brands (which all have HEMA except the new Vettsy formula, as you mentioned) have a bit of shine. I do love this type of video, as I don't have the means to compare a lot of brands and get this type of insight!! Love it!
Thanks for watching, Lydia! 🥰 I am trying to be more ingredients conscious, because I feel like I've seen an uptick in contact dermatitis. Unfortunately it's sometimes hard to get the ones for the Korean products from their websites as I don't read Korean, but at this point I'm thinking I should learn 😅 The ones with HEMA definitely even looked shinier in the bottle, so that makes sense! It was really interesting to see the different finishes available. I'm excited to do more! Is there a specific type of product you'd like to see?
@@GetPressedNailsByC I have sensitive skin, so when I learned HEMA can increase issues I decided to move away from it, but since I do extensions directly on my nails it's hard to get away from it altogether. It helps that I wear my nails for like 4-5 weeks. I'm more into poly gels than anything else, so I don't have any particular requests. :D Lately I've been into short square nails, never thought I would do that! haha I love the idea of drawing on nails, though, so I'm considering the art matte.
@LydiaKrow theres some really good and readily available hema-free brands you can try. ❤️ some of my favs are hona (if you have a license), red iguana, glitterplanetuk, madam glam, sorry spacing but there's alot more out there that are wonderful, and the quality in their gel products is truly noticeable, theyre just seriously better as well as so much safer. As a hema allergy sufferer, I can tell you I personally wish I had never touched any of those cheap amazon brands. Now I can't get dental work done the same, can't get my hip surgery, even have reactions to some makeups and random things now. It's just horrible. So yeah. You don't have to use brands with hema. But if you do, just try to use nitrile gloves, avoid prolonged sitting uncured on nail beds especially, and quickly clean anything touching the skin, especially if you have allergies already, or any health conditions it could be more likely to get an allergy. Not trying to scare just sharing my experience and way to much research haha. But I also have autoimmune disorders and naturally thin nail beds etc. So it didn't take long for me to get my allergy. Now i just hope I can help prevent others from suffering the same. But I get it, sometimes the bank account has different ideas hahaa just wanted to share some brands I know of and use etc. Just in case ❤️ ❤️
@LydiaKrow oh nah, it's ok haha. It's been a few years now. Although I did recently have another reaction due to mislabeled product. So that suckeddd. But the larger side effects/issues from a hema allergy are unfortunately ones anyone who gets a hema allergy also has to deal with because hema is used in dental resins, and surgery Glues etc. So yeah it's just a crap allergy to get. But it's life. I should have somehow known and been more selective of my gels, but i had started nails over a decade ago long before gel really existed and allergies to nail products in general was so close to non existent. Oh well ❤️ I just hope now i can help others ideally prevent allergies altogether, and if not then to find products they can still use rather than not being able to have gorgeous nails anymore because now that is too sad! ;)
Thank you for doing this! A while ago I bought one of those base + toppers kits from Modelones on Amazon since I can’t get into buying nicer brands yet. I’ve been wondering if it would work for chrome isolation and now I know what’s actually doable. Once I’ve used it all up I’ll try to get the Kupa Also! I had no idea about using colored pencil art on matte top coats! I’m really intrigued and hope to give it a go whenever I get some nicer materials
You are so welcome, Gabriela 🥰 I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm relatively new to colorered pencil art, too, so Im excited to experiment with it. I hope you have fun playing with the colored pencil technique!
Hey Cai, lovely to meet you, I’m Lou and I’ll be joining in Cheddas Xmas collab so found you through the list of us lovely ladies. Subbed you and can’t wait to see everyone’s creations ❤❤❤
Hey Lou! 🥰 Thanks so much for checking out my channel! I subbed as well, and I'm excited to be part of such a big collab ❤️ I'm sure everyone's designs are going to be amazing!
Thanks for watching lovely! I do want to eventually do a full video on top coats, but right now I really like the following: For thick consistency: - DGEL non-scratch non-wipe top (just not over dark colors as it can look a bit hazy) - YOGO Zombie Top For thinner consistency: - MAYO Glass top Budget friendly: - Born Pretty new formula super top Hope that helps! 🥰
Hey, Tiffany! Hope you've been well 🥰 That's definitely a great point, and I'll have to do some testing with some regular wax pencils once I can get some!
@GetPressedNailsByC yeah I can't imagine how well wax pencils would go on, but who knows? I have definitely not tried but there are pencils that are more of an "in-between" than polychromos, so you may have better results with any of them honestly, I can only imagine. I'm guessing (and truly just guessing ahahah) that the oil based (and moreso oily) pencils would go on smoother but may not adhere as well, but also are more likely to smear when top coated. The waxier ones would likely look less smooth but stick better and act as a resist to the top coat, which may make it troublesome but could be kinda cool. I never thought to use color pencils on nails. Very very unique. ❤️
Do I wear gel polish? No Do I do nail art? No Am I in the market for matte top coat? No Will I still watch all the way through because I love comparisons and informative videos? 1000% 😅
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! 😅 I also love watching informational videos, even if I don't practice the hobby. I appreciate you checking out my channel 🥰
You know, I never really thought that matte top coats could be so different. I really appreciate the video!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching, lovely 🥰
I love the makeup sponge tip for wiping off the excess! Definitely going to try that 😃

Wow very nice review!!! So many different mattes! Maybe blooming gels, transfer foils, shiniest top coats?
Thanks for watching, Josie ❤️ Sorry for the late response, life has been hectic 😮💨 but I definitely want to do one on top coats! I've just been waiting for a good time to test all the ones I have for longevity 😊
ah perfect video! i was looking into what matte top coat to get and this helped so much!
Yay, glad I could help! 🥰 I've spent so much trying out various matte top coats, so I'm happy some of it can at least go to good use 😂

Thanks so much for watching, Toi love 🥰❤️ The differences are subtle, but it's surprising how it changes their performance and purpose!
Amazing video! Love watching your channel grow
I never knew how many uses matte top coat had! Super cool! I also never thought about using colored pencils :o
Glad you liked the video, Anna! The colored pencil art was, I think, a Korean nail trend, but I'm excited to experiment more with it! ❤️
Thank you for the comparisons cai! Are you planning on doing more gel comparisons? Great video as always 💕

Wow..this really showed that some function gels actually do make a difference and aren't just a money grab.
Right? I was so surprised! It was good to test with though, and I'm so excited to experiment more with the technique 🥰 Thanks for watching, Nina! ❤️
This is a great video, I was wondering what I should get as I have an old bottle of Jin B matte. Thanks!
Of course, thanks for watching, Nicole! I had fun making it 🥰

do you have any recommendations for glossy top coat gels? I currently use jello jello but haven't tried any others
