The penny just dropped. The video is homage to Ronan's mother, Cliodhna Cussen, mentioned at 0:25, and her chain of forebears before that
I would echo entirely all the comments made in terms of praise for the song and the performance. The use of the word sophomore on worse days would have had me running for the vomitorium. The use of such words in connection with Irish folk music displays a subservient attitude to the reviewers in foreign lands who have taken to using it.
This incredible video appeared on my suggested page yesterday and since then I've watched it several times. It made me cry in the best way - ancestral lineages of the poet, the musician, the bird, living on right now in these beautiful people. Thrilled to say I'd not heard of Ronan or Myles and now have two amazing artists whose life's work so far I have the absolute pleasure of experiencing. Slowly making my way through all of your songs, albums and videos. Thank you for your art, and thank you for sharing. I deeply needed it.

Do yourself a massive favour...save up some money and make a trip to Ireland. I went for a week back in 2019 and it was the best gift I have ever given myself. The only downside was I had to come back "home" and have spent each day since longing to be back there.

Ronan is - in my eyes - one of the mast charismatic musicians of the celtic music scene. He's always able to create a smile on my face - just being he himself, doing the things he's loving.
