I was at this show; my second time seeing her, and she and her band totally floored me both times. Those songs, and absolutely perfect weather that night. thanks for sharing the videos!
She carried me thru my early teens and into adulthood….. I’m an old lady now and it’s like a slow dance to the soul hearing live. She is angelic and I’m glad her bestie is again her bestie 💖🥰
Comforting then and comfortable now as a 40 plus woman. Thank you sister Sarah 👑🥲💖 me and my adia will probably never have that one on one talk….. it’s been over 20 years and it still hurts but I know it’s for the best……❤
A sad and beautiful song.. but in the end, it sounds like it was a man who most likely experienced the real heartache.. of course, Sarah is brilliant and beautiful woman, and a national hero.
Wow, the candid admissions of the "crossed-the-line story" are so genuine Sarah. I love that she holds nothing back. And I love the "attitude" and sisterhood of "who needs men but for children". Normally, I would not advocate for fatherless raising of children, especially with sons, but in the case of Sarah, I think that her motherly love of her daughters will result in women of excellence, much like Sarah's music school produces young people ready to enter adulthood with confidence and a drive for success.
Saw her in Wilmington, NC about 5 years ago. Her candid sharing with us in between her amazing and hauntingly beautiful songs made for a magical night. She is truly a treasure…thank you Canada for sharing her with us!
I love Sarah and this song. I have waited 30 years for an explanation that could make sense of this song. In the past, she has said, "it was for a friend who needed uplifting" (paraphrased drastically) but the story never matched the lyrics. Thank you for capturing the true meaning for us curious minds! I absolutely am not judging; as I have also done some pretty messed up crap when I was young. However, can someone explain to me the mentality of a song that is an apology, yet saying "it doesn't matter" and "we were born innocent"? Also, it's not "easy to falter" against a best friend "but it doesn't matter". This song made me weep, still, today hearing it along with the explanation....but seems to lack responsibility and accountability (isn't that kind of the point of the song?). "There's no one left to finger; there's no one here to blame"? Sorry for the diatribe...but I've waited years.
I still suspect it's about a relationship where she was bi-curious... and in the end she disappointed the other woman who was completely lesbian. The fact that they now live together makes it even more obvious.

God 27 years later this song is still and will be forever beautiful. Sarah really has a unique and beautiful voice and lovely face.

YES IT MATTERS.
Hi floy
Loved the story! Bummer that she's having to sing through that smoke.
She’d mentioned she was battling a throat issue, and was drinking a lot of tea. I can see how it might have irritated it.
