Huh. Did this guy transfer to Australia? I've had more than my share of dodgy doctors, but also more than my share of wonderful ones. Just two days ago I had them almost operate on the wrong hip (this has happened 4 other times!). Please always make sure that you have someone with you if you are unable to communicate well, or are too out of it to pay attention. Someone has to pay attention and ask questions to make sure mistakes don't happen. Great respect and thanks to the many amazing doctors and nurses though! You'll forever be my angels

Nup. It happens all the time. As someone who spends half her life in hospital I urge everyone to pay careful attention, and ask questions. Know what is going on. If you are unable to do so because your are too sick or what have you make sure someone is with you. If I didn't pay attention I would be dead. I've had doctors almost operate on the wrong hip 4 times, almost give me insulin (I'm not diabetic) etc. Of course, there are some great doctors too. It's not a responsibility of either nurses or doctors specifically. It depends on who is doing the procedure/giving treatment, their roles etc. There are many situations where the doctor will do it when a nurse is present, and many situations where it is the opposite.
