kurtis being on the side of the moms doing weird workouts made me smile bc he was right about them having fun and how difficult it can be to get exercise
Exactly! Doing any form of exercise is better than nothing and should be encouraged, not hated on. Plus women historically haven't been made to feel welcome in "normal" (men's) workout spaces, so ofc we're going to come up with other ways to exercise. The people complaining about this are so used to viewing men as the default that they can't appreciate women's ingenuity and resilience.
For real! They're just doing aerobics. I think most workouts make you look kinda funny anyway lol but aerobics are fun! Just lifting weights all the time gets boring
11:33 they call it a salon because a long time ago in history around the time of the french revolution, educated people would form "salons". They werent actually hair cut places, obviously, but instead they were small gatherings or meetings hosted by women or educated people who discussed ideas of enlightenment, industrialization, and revolution. They met in small places similar to modern salons to avoid being caught (it was like a secret society kinda thing but also not really). Over time, thats just what modern day salons ended up being called. But a philosophers salon is pretty much a place where philosophers communicate ideas and talk. And dont hate me for this definition cuz i know its not 100% right, but we talked abt them briefly in my global class and thats whay i rememeber
You're totally correct! Especially they gathered popularity in the years of enlightenment in France. yes, thats exactly what i was thinking! A lot of "weird" workouts that, in this case, middle aged people do are like that because its not as hard on the joints. Going for a run seems like the easy choice to a lot of people, but its so rough on the joints its insane. And working out in a group is also just an oppurtunity to have fun together, and bungee-ing around sure seems like a lot more fun that jogging normally in a group
I have EDS and was thinking that too.. Older people wont be as able-bodied as younger people so it makes perfect sense they'd not be doing benchpresses or something, + fun workouts could be easier to get into the routine of doing

@spontaneousgeneration it recreates a natural ecosystem. There's plants growing inside of it, which give shelter to microfauna(bugs), which in turn eat any mold that begins to grow on the plants, which benefits both the gecko and the plants. If it was a closed terrarium, it would also replicate the water cycle. However, due to the fact that vertebrates are known to need air, this cannot happen.

I feel like the streamer boyfriend isn’t even upset about that, he just realized his 12 year old viewers thought it was good content and decided to run with that
I love streaming tons, but I feel like it’s because I’m just little, people see me play games and thats it, real life isn’t meant to be online. Small streams are like friends hanging out. I can totally imagine it being overwhelming and too much when you have the amount of live viewers Kurt Cobain would have. Then it’s chat chaos
My mum used to go zumba and i went a few times and when i tell u its so fun! Ladies looking for fun ways to cardio come up with the most unique and enjoyable ways to do it, and they deserve credit for that
If I can't dress up with my friends and set some mood lighting and embody a sense of grandeur and significance.. what the fuck am I working 40 hours a week to stay alive for? I support them, they're larping as the idealized version of themselves. It just reached the wrong audience
18:30 no it’s so important to set boundaries with the internet especially as a content creator. In a more less people example, teachers tend to have a lot of boundaries with their students so it’s a bit similar. Youre so valid

No it's not I feel like people are just being mean and weird, wearing fancy cloths, lighting candles, and getting together with your friends to talk about stuff you love sound incredible!!!! Pretending to be old timey writers/philosophers sound like to much fun
philosophy majors are some of the most open-minded and chill people i've ever met. this is theater kid energy. but i would like to mention, the overwhelming reaction this video had also contributes to larger phenomenon of anti-intellectualism on the internet. people expressing complex thoughts and arguing politics, ethics, philosophy, etc is met with metaphorical or literal eyerolls. as if the mere intention to discuss deeper topics that require mental effort to keep up with is pretentious, an excercise in self-indulgence, or even worse, somehow an affront to the people with less knowledge on those subjects. its not. discussing complex ideas and sharing information (be that academic/formal or one that comes from lived experience) is literally a form of revolution, and direct action. and its specially important right now, given the current state of the world. contrary to popular belief, the brightest minds of today: people like judith butler, angela davis, noam chomsky... are not stoners occasionally blurting out some "deep shit". they're individuals who've dedicated their entire lives (AND BODIES!!) to the persuit of answers and sharing those answers through various different mediums. and i can assure you, our world would be FUCKED without them. knowledge is power AND hope.
11:23 the philosopher youre thinking of is diogenes 😭 crazy fucking guy. i think he jorked it (by it i mean his peanits) in a public space to prove that the happiest of people were the ones who rejected social norms. he’s genuinely one of the funniest ancient philosophers ever
Finding new fun ways to work out is amazingly beneficial to all types of people! It gets people active and moving in an environment that is much more welcoming and comfortable than a traditional gym while encouraging people who may have disabilities or can’t use regular equipment to find ways to move! Having fun while exercising promotes it to more people who are otherwise turned off by the gym setting. The reason is lots of women is of course because of how uncomfortable a traditional gym setting can be, or how unsafe it can be to run around outside in so many places.
I could tell you recorded this while in Louisville because of the horse pictures on the wall behind you lol. And I live in Louisville so I would know. Also, saw you while you were here and you did a great job!❤
That exercise is called cardio drumming, and people really enjoy it! The sling thing looks like a great and fun way to do cardio without stressing your joints. The person making fun of that will understand in 30 or so years. 😂

"salon" is french for like. living room. or drawing room. artists and writers and stuff used to gather in private rooms to talk about their art and stuff, which is why "salon" stuck around.
Kurtis Cobain, my favorite country artist
kurtis if you have free time, you should absolutely go see Mammoth Caves. they’re so beautiful and my family and i went last summer
I feel like the streamer boyfriend isn’t even upset about that, he just realized his 12 year old viewers thought it was good content and decided to run with that
she Louis on my ville til I Kentucky
Literally
I love streaming tons, but I feel like it’s because I’m just little, people see me play games and thats it, real life isn’t meant to be online. Small streams are like friends hanging out. I can totally imagine it being overwhelming and too much when you have the amount of live viewers Kurt Cobain would have. Then it’s chat chaos
omg wait do u wanna share ur stream name? i’d love to follow !! 🫶
Following, your streams sound like fun :)
Kurt Cobain is my favourite podcaster
My mum used to go zumba and i went a few times and when i tell u its so fun! Ladies looking for fun ways to cardio come up with the most unique and enjoyable ways to do it, and they deserve credit for that
Perfect timing for my lunch hour!!! 😂
Kurtis is so fine Idc what y’all say
He seems like he's doing pretty okay. You're right.
No ones disagreeing dawg id respectfully make that man my wife🙂😐
who disagrees lol
where did this come from!
if I ever see kurtis in public I'm gonna go up to him and ask him if he's freddo Mercury or something
Asking if people are dead celebs could be some kind of newfangled teen humor.
the 14 year old at the beginning 😂 fully committed to the bit lmao
If I can't dress up with my friends and set some mood lighting and embody a sense of grandeur and significance.. what the fuck am I working 40 hours a week to stay alive for? I support them, they're larping as the idealized version of themselves. It just reached the wrong audience
The pictures of Miku surrounding the women doing that weird run makes it even funnier lol
Perfect video for a Philosophy student on break
American Translation: The Sorcerer's Salon
the "middle aged woman workouts" all look like things that would be easier on your joints than running so idk makes sense to me
Kurt cobain looks so different with his new hairstyle, almost thought he’s a different person!
Kurtis time Kurtis time
The fact that this video had a Kurt Cobain joke and was posted on the day of his death is CRAZYYY💀
18:30 no it’s so important to set boundaries with the internet especially as a content creator. In a more less people example, teachers tend to have a lot of boundaries with their students so it’s a bit similar. Youre so valid
Chicago is my favorite musical omg. funnily enough I was actually performing in Chicago as Roxie in my local theater when Kurtis came on tour to my city so I couldn’t see him lol
That Louisville show was great! Thanks for such a great time
kurt idk if it’s just bc i’m always high when i watch ur podcast but that intro is freaky not like kinky but scary like not in a bad way but if u think abt it it’s kinda eerie like the music and idk
i giggled
As someone whose degrees are in philosophy (bioethics) this episode tickles my gallbladder.
Kurt Cobain my favourite youtuber!!!!!!!!!!!
The part about the kid thinking you're Kurt Cobain has me rolling
Glad he’s talking about the pillow behind him. Someone had to say something and many wouldn’t have the courage to speak on the pillow behind him.
Kurtis I thought you said to never take advice from someone in a snapback and here you are
honestly i feel like the philosopher’s salon could be pretty cool with the right people. maybe that’s just me
No it's not I feel like people are just being mean and weird, wearing fancy cloths, lighting candles, and getting together with your friends to talk about stuff you love sound incredible!!!! Pretending to be old timey writers/philosophers sound like to much fun
kurt said fuck a meet & greet, i'm having a meet & ponder
Diogenes of Sinope. the first Cynic, is the guy you're thinking of who gave everything away and lived on the streets with his dogs.
philosophy majors are some of the most open-minded and chill people i've ever met. this is theater kid energy.
but i would like to mention, the overwhelming reaction this video had also contributes to larger phenomenon of anti-intellectualism on the internet.
people expressing complex thoughts and arguing politics, ethics, philosophy, etc is met with metaphorical or literal eyerolls. as if the mere intention to discuss deeper topics that require mental effort to keep up with is pretentious, an excercise in self-indulgence, or even worse, somehow an affront to the people with less knowledge on those subjects. its not. discussing complex ideas and sharing information (be that academic/formal or one that comes from lived experience) is literally a form of revolution, and direct action. and its specially important right now, given the current state of the world.
contrary to popular belief, the brightest minds of today: people like judith butler, angela davis, noam chomsky... are not stoners occasionally blurting out some "deep shit". they're individuals who've dedicated their entire lives (AND BODIES!!) to the persuit of answers and sharing those answers through various different mediums. and i can assure you, our world would be FUCKED without them. knowledge is power AND hope.
period.! couldn’t agree more
11:23 the philosopher youre thinking of is diogenes 😭 crazy fucking guy. i think he jorked it (by it i mean his peanits) in a public space to prove that the happiest of people were the ones who rejected social norms. he’s genuinely one of the funniest ancient philosophers ever
The reason is lots of women is of course because of how uncomfortable a traditional gym setting can be, or how unsafe it can be to run around outside in so many places.
need an update on the friends who broke up bc of dog food LMAO
Just sat down to have dinner. Let's goooo!
kurty corner

she kurt on my corner till i squeet
I could tell you recorded this while in Louisville because of the horse pictures on the wall behind you lol. And I live in Louisville so I would know.
Also, saw you while you were here and you did a great job!❤
That exercise is called cardio drumming, and people really enjoy it!
The sling thing looks like a great and fun way to do cardio without stressing your joints.
The person making fun of that will understand in 30 or so years. 😂
