Still using my L110 968 hours one of the best mowers I've owned !
Congrats Big Son. I love reading about an L110 with lots of hours.I have you slightly beat on hours. Bought mine in 2003. It has 1034.8 hours on it. Garage kept. The Kohler Command 17.5 will not die. I did have to replace the deck twice due to rust. No major repairs to the engine. The fuel solenoid finally died and I replaced it over the winter. I almost eliminated it completely but the "stock" purist in me almost cried so I put another on. Ridicules, I know! Also, after 20 years, for the first time, ever, changed the transaxil fluid. Not too much of a pain in the ass but she does move a quicker.
@@gottaloveit6993 How awesome is this! Would you believe I purchased this mower for spare parts 4 years ago to keep my L111 going but when I got to the guys house and saw the shape it was in I immediately knew it was the one, The seller had taken extremely good care of the machine deck and body were in great shape he sold it because he said it stop moving come to find out! One of the drive pulleys was cracked and the belt was slightly off pulley I've been using it every since😊 sold the l111 because the body was in rough shape but engine was good. So when I see these L110 still working I gets EXCITED 🤣👍🏾💯
@@bigsonslawncareI thought that was you when I saw your profile name! I seem to recall you making a video of your find. I watched it. Was that the one were the audio went out for some reason and you dubbed over it?
@@gottaloveit6993 10-4👍🏽
I think you should slam one of the john deeres closer to the ground and make it a racer
The one john deer has hydraulics tempting loader build tractor
The one with the engine still in it, I think has steering brakes too if I'm looking at the pedals correctly.
That John Deere 140 h3 is a really good garden tractor
it was the seat switch killing it, you had it running without the brake engaged and nobody on the seat and that was why the ground wire was killing it, you need the parking brake engaged to get off them while running.
Definitely with John on the mud-mower😂
The 140 with the three spool hydro bring a lot of money in Tennessee. Really fix it right and they go for 1K and up.
great video. Awesome that they delivered the mowers to you. John is right about the mud mower. i would use the one without an engine for a mud mower. :)
You really can't beat an old L110. I bought one recently just to fix up and have in the fleet of stuff.
Those old mowers are cool
You are missing out on the front hydraulic capability on the 140 John Deere. It was ahead of its time when released
Scary post mid 90's JD, though the warning is sincerely appreciated. Neat learning about even so and maybe is a nice hydro design at least with the pedal style. I'm not really into JD's, though good engine and who knows what for in the future.
I guess there is some certain welder machine that restores the lead acid batteries somehow like Sweet Project Cars and maybe another channel or two claims. Magical pulse inverter model frequency with the secret waveform sauce at the right potential and current or something? $10 core gift cert at Menards has been my experience.
Wondering about custom fab stuff parts for those older JD's as I read and hear most complain about the replacement parts being crazy sky high?
@@NubsWithGuns Had to try and might have to try again when I get the inverter welder going, why not? Amazingly, seems to work for the NiCd's from my experience about 20% of the time using the old transformer based design. I made a short on my channel, at least I think I got that up. I know a few I haven't yet. Anyways, reduced the internal resistance on all but the good ones and the good ones only bumped up their internal resistance a hair. I guess for NiCd's is a known thing to do to break up the larger crystal dendrites that form. Surprised me actually for those and I wound up getting better improved performance from none, like literally two tested 0.0V. I don't know about the lead acid however. Once those are discharged to under voltage maybe more than twice or a few times, they're gone'rs.
@@NubsWithGuns Right and reminds me I just recalled I actually got one of those larger old school roll around transformers to try restoring a lead acid battery, the type with the 200A starter booster output and didn't work. I have a video or two that are bad of that charger, though reminds me to work on that again confirming spec ratings since I got some parts from a toaster oven for a mechanical timer and possibly for better power control along with an led display to upgrade the output values. I recall I wanted to somehow vacuum epoxy into the transformer as well to quiet the thing.
So those carburetor fuel shut of solenoids double as a fuel pre-heater LOL.
The lawn tractor that John suggested for a mud mower would be a great start, its already had its engine removed....I think a Predator would be a great swap, and do a shaft drive maybe?
That electric ATV is hilarious...even a regular gas powered ATV don't do all that nonsense LOL.
Thank you for the video 👍
I'm excited about the old school JD Garden Tractors. Dear Ol' Dad still has the 112 he picked up just a couple of years used in the early 80s. He did replace the Kohler at one point and a clutch or 2 but pretty much original. Mowed an acre and a half plus snow plowing for decades.
I used a Kohler Command Twin for 21 years before I retired it. Their reputation now has taken a few blows in recent years. They used to make good engines that lasted.
put one of those 6hp ebay diesels in the john deere.
That was a nice that they delivered those mowers to you
That would be a cool mud mower
I had 2 of these command single cylinder engines that were rope start only and those were the hardest engines to start. Took 20 pulls or more unless you used starting fluid. I never got to the bottom of it and I replaced carburetors, fuel pump on one and nothing. Choke worked as it should.
Good ole diesel I got one that was 50\50 mix all his mowing equipment was drain and make run
Very entertaining thank you for the video
Those craftsmans were late ayp, early hop. John deere tractors was always john deere, never made by another company or crossed over with hop/ayp, other than some JD push mowers which were made by the conglomerate of briggs/murray/snapper/john deere/brute
Wonder why I saw those green machines coming out of the HOP plant in Orangeburg SC????
Cool!
my dad has a 2002 same model, the hydro trans got so bad it barely worked and made all kinds of groaning when trying to move. Tore it apart to see how it worked and found the oil had broken down and clogged the filter. Cleaned everything and added new oil, noise went away. Has had 100 hours put on it and it still sounds and works good. I’m guessing JD put cheap oil in them
That 110 appears to be a round fender which is a early model of John Deere 110 which there's are worth money even the way that once it's it's still worth more money than it would be worth if you would build it into a mud mower that's like a $250 lawn mower sitting the way it is now
The 140 should be a replacement work horse
the best way to desulfate a battery is to drop them from waist level 3 times on concrete. care must be taken so they land right of course, sound silly? well try it and see if its better then desulfating them 2 weeks, all that seems to me to help is the energy co. . your welcome!!!!
You should so make one of the those john Deere's a mud mower and put a 212 in it
I think it may be 2stroke for the blue gas
can you imagine Farmall guys laughing at john deere hand clutch .back in the day,,
You should fix the one John likes!
Blue is 2 cycle mix probably I just picked up a old Maytag engine twin cylinder from the 1930s it'll be on my channel tomorrow has original Maytag plug in it
Mud mower definitely
It'll be awesome to watch u make a mud mower again out of the old John Deere
Blue gas= all they had on hand was their can of 2 stroke mixed gas.
I bet your right. I avoid 2 stroke stuff and did not think of that.
I think John is right, Mud Mower. Slap in a Preditor or a Dura Max and let it run....
Someone gave me the same mover... Needed lots of tlc....Got no earth wire... Were is it originally bolted to the tractor...
MTD never made stuff for John Deere, John Deere made their own stuff for the 100 series mowers NOT MTD..
That direct starter wiring is nothing more than the old foot starters we had years ago. You remember them don't you?
I have seen it on a few very low compression setups. Like some old 10hp flat heads. But not anything much bigger then that. Many older military's generators had setups like that but again low compression.
Recently seen a video of a 6.5 HP China Diesel, that would be cool in the John Deere.
A lot of people call the new body style Craftsmans the MTD Craftsman's.
I call them the John Deere Craftsmans, since that's what they more remind me of.
The new body style craftsman’s are made by MTD
Neil. Your son has a good idea. Mud mower all the way. I Enjoy Your Videos. Thank's and keep the videos comeing
Some kind of fuel stabilizer in the gas? Just a guess.
I got John Deere engine on my craftsmen or murray. Oil fiter is tight on. I don't know what number it is. Do you know what it is?
Hey do you know if that push button start wood work on cars?
It looks like they put 2 stroke mix in that thing. Maybe that's all they had at the time.
The one john is sitting on is cooler
Air down tires just a touch bee mint
And some how u still hit a log in the ground lol
The one with no engine should be the mud mower
I have one of those battery chargers that are supposed to revive dead batteries. So far it’s only revived 1 battery that was completely dead.
Put a m18 in the 110
I agree with John
Maybe the gas was either 2 cycle mix or had an additive in it
I was told to look up a product called Star-tron Seems it is showing up as a cheap version of Stabil thanks to Tractor supply.
Make a mud more for john
That's mower
Me personally, I think John deere are overpriced because ofbthe name. I usevto have an old stx38 JD and it had the Kohler motor and ut was the furst and kast one I ever owned. I agree with John I like the one he picked out to work on next. Just something about the look of it screams fix me but I don't know if I would name that one into a mud mower. It looks more like a puller.
Those 140s are really good I would restore it with a newer engine.
Mud mower
I would take the diesel out of diesel eater and put it in the John Deere without fenders. Still a John Deere round fender and a John Deere 140 H2 or H3 was a good score.
That is not a bad idea in the long term. Will keep that in the back of my mind.
Somebody put two cycle gas in it and it has oil in it atch white blue
I think your wasting your time trying to salfate that battery.
Back in school I was in the auto program and they had a GR8 battery charger was really expensive I had a very old battery that was completely flat wouldn’t take a charge tried the resurrection mode four times before it finally came back to life and held a charge
I have had a few people email in about this and the Welder trick that they had to do it 3 to 4 times. Thank you
John is right......
Would you happen to have a muffler for one of these for a craftsman lt1000 I don’t wanna pay 100$ for a new one.
Atv with reverse but no side /rearview mirror ok
Leave the 140 alone, it is cooler. Please don’t put a predator in the 110, also don’t make it a mud mower.
John deeres suck period..look at them in 2021 and also Husqvarna neither came close in quality as the exclusive Run first run of the Craftsman Turn Tight Series Tractor T240 T260 T310 the very best they Ran from 2019 to 2021..the newer versions 2022 to present have been downgraded from the original exclusive Run models glad I got mine in 2021..
Yes you are wasting your time just replace.
Diesel
Restore the John Deere 110 or 112 that has no engine
I have always concerned this era of "John Deere" equipment as "Jun Kehr's", as they where pathetic when came to build quality.
Yup at the end of the day they are just YT3000 craftsman that are rebranded MTD 1046 platform from the late 90's.
Felt the same about my Craftsman YT4000 it was garbage from the beginning...but grandpa didn't want to spend the extra $$$ and buy the Craftsman garden tractor...never mind the fact the YT4000 was replacing a GT6000...should have just found a replacement engine for the old GT6000 because that YT4000's supposed 24HP Briggs 2 cylinder engine was pure junk I swear the 18HP single Kohler that is in my current Cub Cadet XT1-42" has more power.
That was not made by John deere it was made by MTD it's called a box store John deere
i hate john deere skidders and A- B tractors. .
I agree with John
