    String was so relaxed on stage. He would bring the best out in anyone that was on stage with him. He was a very giving and caring person.

    His story is so fantastic. Trading 2 chickens for his banjo at age 12 with a musical family and grandpa jones and friends. I can just imagine their back/front yard gatherings. Just fantastic taste of true Americana. Just love it!

    Porter thought alot of string. I was a young woman when string was around. But I remember. I was a teenager. A true living legend. He was amazing. He is truly missed.

    I can remember watching all those great country music shows as a kid. That was country music back then. This so called country music today isn’t worth listening to.

    I remember being in western Tennessee in the summer of 1965 watching The Porter Wagoner Show on a black and white TV. We lived in Finley, an incorporated little town about five miles west of Dyresburg.

    David ( String) and Estelle had no children. Although they admired and loved their nieces and nephews. They would travel often to Jackson County Ky to see their extended family.

    He was a great entertainer. I grew up watching the Porter Wagoner show. String Bean was a regular. Dolly Parton was just a young woman when she was on the show singing and selling boxes of Breeze Detergent.

    I'm 57. I miss country music like these guys. Nowadays country music sucks eggs. I remember the Porter Waggoner Show when I was little. I always wanted one of Porter's rhinestone suits. They were the coolest.

    If string is 6ft5, then porter Wagoner must have also been a very tall man. God love string. He was truly a good, gifted, modest, humble man. None like him then or now. Miss you string. You and Estelle are so missed.

    Growing up I had several albums of "bean". Also Dave Macon. I liked Bean for his whimsical act. But he hardly ever changed chords on live tv. He did on Run Rabbit Run but mostly he would play in open G and play melody only. Out of harmony. Great entertainer. Master of banjo??
