Firedrake Chinese Jammer

China blocks certain radio tramsmissions by broadcasting raucus music to drown them out (in thie case Radio Free Asia). These broadcasts are popularly called "Firedrake."
This one was from 18:05 UTC, heard in central Virginia. PL-990 receiver, 20-ft antenna + ground on 11565 kHz.

Which receiver is more preferable for you 990 or 880?

I chose the PL-990 and sold the PL-880. The PL-990 was the best overall. It is better on SSB and has synchronous detection. It also allows an external antenna on LW and that is a big boost.

@@kwdavids1 Clearly. Can you tell me the SW linear volume level on pl990? I changed the value and forgot what the default was...

@@wavezone2566 The line out level is set separately for each band. I do not recall changing mine and it is set: FM - 55, MW - 58, LW - 58, SW - 60.
