I like the acknowledgement that because of our accents, we can't say Lord F's name, haha. I always found the misunderstanding of Shrek thinking Fiona hates him a bit weak. Like the movie needed some 3rd act thing to drive them apart. It's strangely a reverse of the liar-revealed trope, similar to A Bugs Life. But at the very least, Shrek's theme being 'it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside' justifies this misunderstanding a little bit.

Yeah it definitely seems contrived in the moment. It's a little bit fairy tale, a little bit Shakespeare, but not very compelling in the 21st century.
