  • Alex Phillips is overjoyed to bring the 'Super Cleaner' Libby Denney onto Talk after reading about her business and the jobs she's tackled.
Libby got into cleaning as a profession through her dad, but has progressed into the industry enough to take on the most severe of cleaning jobs; or 'environmental cleans'.
She relates to Alex some of her worst cases; including needles stuck in walls, human remains, and bathrooms filled with used adult diapers.
However, Libby is handsomely paid for her efforts, with her business turning over £364,000 a year.

Nothing but respect for someone noting a gap in a market and setting up a business.

Now Labour will look into how they can get half of that for themselves.

Here in the US this is called Biohazard cleanup…it’s a multi million $$ business here. We have tons of regulations about the disposal of all the nasty biohazard stuff she spoke of. So cleaners like her do go in Full Hazmat suits with respirators on bc it’s very toxic dealing with bodily fluids etc. If she moved here she’d make easily TRIPLE what she making there…I’m in New Jersey, 2.5 hrs south of NYC. That is BIG BIG BUSINESS HERE.

Its a £7k a week cleaning business, not a £7k a week cleaner. (So nothing to see here, I have to wonder if this is a paid advertisement).

Exactly my thoughts. If the business is charging £25/hour for the job each individual employee must be paid very little.

If she's being paid by the council/social services, I wouldn't be surprised.
(Actually, The whole business makes that, not her personally, so the title is ridiculously misleading)

What, 1k/day? As someone else states, if the lady and her business is dealing with councils I absolutely believe it. Just think of a figure and double it. And you would still be charging less than half what their other providers are quoting. I guarantee that she is getting work at 1k/day because the councils are asking others for tenders and are getting figures quoted at 5k/day or even higher.

a reality of life in the UK is that most people are not keen on cleaning properly.
Even if they do , its only half done.
      Google : skirting boards/mumsnet
In my job of scientific instrumentation, companies are prepared to pay extra for vacuuming out dust and laboratory tidying up.
As a closet OCD, I am happy to help.
