Yes, but they push a lot of air. I grew up with the mid 60's and early 70 Chevelle's, and love them all from 1966 to 70 Chevelle muscle cars, but IMO, Aero dynamics means a lot in todays racing!!!
I love the Chevelle idea and I know you and your team are going to knock it out of the ballpark. When I was young my Uncle Danny had a 1969 Chevelle SS. I remember sitting out there and helping him work on it. He had tubbed and built a 502 big block for it. It wasn't some professionally built race car but, it was his. Monza, hey pal love you guys, y'all started what I wished would've happen back in the day when I street raced my 55 Chevy 427, 456 gears with a 4 speed, and with about 650 HP all motor bc nitrous wasn't even a thought for making HP back then. Pop up pistons, cams, duel point distributors, carbonators, and close chamber heads is how we made HP. But street racing was a big thing for us young men back in the day, and I was born Nov. 27 1950, and I still drive way to fast. If it wasn't for Escort radar detectors, I couldn't keep a driver's license lol!!! But back then in the late 1960's very early 1970's, my 55 Chevy was one of the 3 fastest cars in the state of South Carolina, and back then we use to dream about it being OK to get together on the street and have big races on the streets some where that the cops wouldn't fuck with us. But anyway, I hear you talk about a lot about how much heavier your Camaro is than the guys you run against in the NPK races, so why are you building that big bodied Chevelle bc, without using a carbon body, and a tube frame, you're still going to be out run in NPK being heavier than most everybody you race against. Get rid of the poundage, and show us what that big block can really do. Also, back in my day, we ran M&H, or Micky Thompson grooved street slicks, that was a treaded tire with soft side walls, and that is what we use get traction on the street in my day with just raw motor HP, I could get my 55 to hook up pretty damn good with the M&H 10 1/2 inch tire at about 4 grand when i turn loose the clutch. Those were the good ole days Monza!!! P S street racing is the definition of real drag racing. But hey, good luck with the Chevelle, the pic really looks sharp, my brother raced a 1967 SS back in the day, and it was a built to the hilt 427, with about 1000 HP raw motor, and my nephew street raced a 1981 Z28 with a Gene Fulton big block. Gene Fulton is a big time engine builder here in SC. So yes, street racing is in my family blood line!!!!

I'm glad to see someone going back to the vinyl tops. They look killer on some cars. Chevelles, Camaros, Challengers all look great with Black Vinyl Tops. If I had a new Challenger, the first things I would do to it. Paint it Hemi Orange with Black Vinyl Top, and add chrome front and rear bumpers and a 1970 grill.
I was super excited when I heard your new car was going to be a 69 Camaro but as an owner of a 68 Chevelle I'm excited to see another one on NPK. I know Monza being an old school Chevy guy that he will keep a Chevy powerplant under the hood too. Well done Sir!
Would love to see what the Procharged version of the 481x would do. Turbos are great but sometimes unpredictable. Good luck regardless!!!! CJRC is top notch!!!

Being a Chevelle guy great look, however will be interesting to see if the vinyl top will stay with the speeds it will be subjected to. There are other paint systems that can mimic the top.
I love the car especially the vinyl roof and the door handles.. Jerry if you haven't given the car a name , my dads 69 z 28 that ran in the IHRA the car's name was ( QuickSilver) I can show you a picture of the gold leaf lettering if you like. The car set a world record in 1974 it's been broken since then. But Pat Music remembers the car. My dad raced against Pat back in the day...QuickSilver....It just fits your new build Jerry. Good luck going forward.
The new car is something that will represent monza and not leave fans upset when he's not in the split bumper.. the rendering is fuckin sweet especially if they can get those big tires tucked up in their so it has that stance.. reapers new car has that stance
Sheet yeah!! CJRC built Swanstrom a badass chassis. Staying with the same drive-line set-up as the split bumper? Hopefully the procharged hemi deal will get the "title tax" and the turbo deals will get the weight break.
SICK!!!!!!!! the new car is going to be AWESOME one of my top 3 favorite cars of all time and I have been waiting for someone on Street Outlaws or NPK to come out with a 70 or 72 Chevelle can't wait until it's done and we get to see it making some steam out at the track and I have to say Monza I feel like you picked the best group of guys to build your car not only because they do badass work but for the simple reason that CJRC is big enough to do great work and get things done but they are also small enough so you don't feel like you're going to a big company with assembly lines and you can't get a personal relationship going with people like that but at CJRC when they have your car and you come to the shop you feel like you are going to go hang out with your buddies and have lunch and at CJRC you can even do that you show up there on a Friday for lunch they are cooking steaks on the grill for everyone at the shop and after lunch they go right back to work and to me you can't ask for anything better and Monza the Camaro has been one of my favorite cars on the show for a long time now but I think I'm going to like this car alot better especially since you are putting a true vinyl top on the car and not just some flat black paint

My stepdad had a convertable 70 ss ls6, he loved that car. He passed almost 10 years ago. Glad to see it is gonna be a chevelle instead of a camaro, like like split bumber camaros but I love chevelles more! Good luck with the car Monza!

My two favorite cars, 67 and 70 Chevelles, and since stink finger has a 67, you building a 70 is badass. Hopefully you'll have a clutch pedal in it 😁

That is actually one of my favorite cars! My brother had a 69 SS 396 and he took us thru high school.
after seeing and flowing justin,s build with cjrc i think you have made a great choice in your chassis for the car thay have the now how and proven shop to make it happen

sweet love the chevelle had a 70 back in the 80 with built 350 and th350 that was worked also now a cool native name to top it off. kicking some ass next year you will hurt some feelings most of all congratulation on the new build
