hi Justin ! Blue ribbon eels... once your eyes are dark-adjusted to the target depth, can you see the eels without your light? if yes, maybe you can try this... 1. set the camera on full manual, in a bright area of water, manually focus to how many feet you will be away from them 2. go to the same depth that they are at, so the ambient light is the same 3. adjust the ISO, shutter speed, and use a flash to take test pictures of a similar part of the reef far from where they are ... fine-tune the ISO and shutter speed to get proper exposure during these test shots 4. once you confirm the camera settings are what you need for a proper exposure, go to the eels, once you see them framed for a good picture with the lights off, at the same distance - hit them with the flash! they won't go far in 1/30,000th of a second, and you should have your picture. A longer distance to the eels might help too, to make the process less dependent on precise focus because of increased depth of field. And the shy eels might be more willing to come out if you're a little further away?...thoughts?
Fantastic, looking to go to the Philippians in June, how's the diving that time of the year? I'd like to get your way. Also, I love my Dive Rite BCDs, I just lost my voyagerPac as the bladder broke at the inflator hose, with around 1000 dives on it, I can't complain, just bought the Transpac XT, hope to get a thousand more.
Does dive school, ie: formal education/instruction require clearance, ie: visa requirements, from Immigration? Correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe one cannot enroll in colleges here while on tourist visa.
Well are you talking about for the GI Bill? Because career building/dive course are not college, but still covered by VA. I mean, the entire country relies on scuba tourism, no matter who is paying the bill, so imagine if they required a different visa for all divers doing a course
He’s still ALIIIIIVE!!!!
Wow, at 11:48, those two are almost invisible, just how can you even spot such things under water,,
Great video tho👌
Dude I know. Only reason I find them is they are not too small. Transparent, but can spot them. Maybe inch tall
@CritterHunter thats awesome, I guess a dive master really develop an eye to spot such an awesome critter👍
@VinCent-vk6wc oh for sure. I let them work lol

Well the white balancing is a good idea but I'm doing videos of them, not photos, so need 10 to 90 seconds of constant light for good clips
@@CritterHunter ah ... My bad.
@tryscience some times I set my lights near it in the sand, then stay away so at least my bubbles and me don't scare it. And film from a distance
@CritterHunter hmmmm..... If you leave the lights on, I wonder if they get used to that especially if you're further away
@@tryscience probably would. I need more patience
Awesome footage Justin...some day I will get back in the water
What happened to Misty's educational video series?😢
She went off to university so I told her we will dive in between semesters. Don't want to overload her
