I first heard this song on the "Winter 1998" CD mixed by Julian Marsh, and it blew me out of the water. I played it often in my college radio show. Beyond the fact that Ms. Wash's voice is beyond this world, the music of the mix itself represents the message of the song--triumph through the struggle. Each bar of music is roughly cut off, like each step of an uphill climb. The beat is thick and thrumming. When the chorus finally cuts in, it's like light from God.
Her voice is a tower of strength and power, Martha rocks, I believe this is the best mix of this track . Blows your socks off, would love to here her punch this one out in a good venue.
