No matter how many objects i watch go through this, I'm ALWAYS amazed at the outward explosive force of the breaking point of each object. I mean....who would have ever thought that PAPER could explode??
Anything can explode. I believe even playdough can explode if you had a big enough surface area pushing it together, thus leaving too little space for a slow expansion.
Its from the small explosion that is created when there are 2 solid objects being pushed at eachother at such a high velocity that it creates a small explosion and pushes everything away in a small shockwave.
@@tupacamarushakur64 oh yeah, I know why it happens, it's just shocking to see simple paper explode with such outward force. Pressure is a pretty incredible thing to see in action.
Some of the most explosive things tend to also be higher oh the mohs scratching scale I presume as well Because from I learned the harder it is for something to deform or be scratched the more brittle and structure it needs So something like glass will explode entirely even if most of it isn’t even being crushed while play dough will just slide out of the way easily, So finding hard objects that are flexible too ismdifficult
The hardened steel ring on it's side and the deck of playing cards failed at about the same pressure, about 103 tones. That's impressive... And frightening.
I had something similar happen in a physics class at school. I mean nowhere near this but it was supposed to be relatively safe. A rod of wrought iron was placed in this holder that heated it up rapidly through burners lined underneath the rod. Once it was hot, it was secured and to demonstrate how 'brittle' it was, the bar would break under the tension when it cooled and became that much smaller. Only, the part that broke came flying out of the aperatus, left a gouge a centimeter deep by 10 cm long across the wooden side of the desk where I'd sat behind out of paranoia. Heard a clang and a thud behind me, the thing got lodged in the wall and they had a hard time getting it out. I freaked out because that could have been my leg lol.
I love how the brass cylinder launches a piece, you hear something in the background shatter and there's a moment like... holy crap!... next video there's ballistic glass and steel haha
The amount of energy being stored in the lower half of the press is amazing. It's amazing seeing the tensile (tension?) strength of an item reach its molecular limit and fail to hold together.
