take the cylinder and rod off the old engine, block off the cylinder hole with a plate, remount it between the clutch and axle and use it as a transmission...
for a great balance in gear ratio I recommend a 10 tooth on the torque converter to a 48 on axle. it gives a decent take off while not sacrificing a lot of top end.
If you look in the background at 5:11 you can see that this is actually recorded before the truck cab is primed. Kinda funny. Nice job guys, keep up the good work!
It's nice that you're doing lower price projects. You are helping out a neglected group from other you tubers. Garage sales in the spring and fall are great sources of small engines. Sometimes someone might not be able to buy a new carb. Showing how to clean a carb and install a rebuild kit might help.
I built a very sketchy cart from an old frame I found behind a barn once. Had a 3 horse Briggs, clutch, and super high gearing. It couldn't pull out of its own way but on straight stretches it would *literally fly* To the point I had to put disc brakes on it because the stock brakes couldn't even slow it down it was so fast.
I also change the 110cc engine to a 212cc predator. On my go kart. Mine is blue. Used a 30 series converter. 80 teeth sproket. Runs just fine. Even added a motocycle Bluetooth radio.
Convert the 107 to a gearbox... Done it before. You take apart the top end. make a cover for the cylinder. remove the cover over the flywheel and the starter. Bolt a gear to the flywheel. bolt your new engine on a plate in front or above this new stand alone transmission with built in clutch and attach them with a chain... it works pretty good till it gives under the increased horsepower and torque.
I bought my son the smaller version of that a few years ago and swapped the old 110 for a predator 212, added a torque converter and she runs great. It will do donuts like no other until the belts wear in.
I know this video is old but those Subaru engines are absolute champs with the experience I’ve had with them even though I’ve only had two I have put them through hell and back and they just keep going!
You guys remind me of me and my cousin growing up. We were a "team" LOL. Many of our adventures centered around model cars/planes, plastic cement, M80s and gasoline. Enough said...let's see your "bloopers" LOL
You guys should do a build with a Briggs and Stratton 1450 I think that would be cool to see I am planning on putting one on my yerf dog 3203. I love watching your videos they have taught me a lot about go karts and how to maintain them.
Make the lighting system work again, the turn signals, 4 ways, tail/brake light, headlights, etc... You should also put one of those slow moving vehicle triangles on it to make it so it's "street legal" for the 'paper boy.'

I did this swap to my version of Chinese go kart, except I used a predator 212 and basically did a stage one set up to the engine paired up with a torque converter. The thing is pulls like u wouldn’t believe, I clocked it at about 45.
with the meet up, I 100% would have gone, hands down. However I simply got bogged down with work. I'm definitely going to attempt to go depending on when that will be. I'm sure I should have my ATV up and running by then

Too bad Subaru discontinued their manufacture of small industrial engines. To me they are every bit as good as Honda engines. I have a generator and a pressure washer powered by Subaru and they always start right up after sitting for several months. Besides the gearing issues you already noted I would suggest you remove the governor, and also that you get the air cleaner out of the path of any mud and water from the rear right tire maybe by fitting it a 90 degree bend and raising up several inches, maybe with a neopreme rubber elbow from the plumbing section of your local hardware store. Had I have known about the meet I would have shown up. Its all good, ill get the next one in the spring with the kids. Getting them all karts for Christmas and am gonna rebuild them with them. May even make some videos of it.
If we cut a bunch of weight out of this kart and had a long, flat road to test it on, it would probably do 60 miles an hour with this gearing setup!
