    It's nice that you're doing lower price projects. You are helping out a neglected group from other you tubers. Garage sales in the spring and fall are great sources of small engines. Sometimes someone might not be able to buy a new carb. Showing how to clean a carb and install a rebuild kit might help.

    I built a very sketchy cart from an old frame I found behind a barn once. Had a 3 horse Briggs, clutch, and super high gearing. It couldn't pull out of its own way but on straight stretches it would *literally fly* To the point I had to put disc brakes on it because the stock brakes couldn't even slow it down it was so fast.

    Convert the 107 to a gearbox... Done it before. You take apart the top end. make a cover for the cylinder. remove the cover over the flywheel and the starter. Bolt a gear to the flywheel. bolt your new engine on a plate in front or above this new stand alone transmission with built in clutch and attach them with a chain... it works pretty good till it gives under the increased horsepower and torque.

Costco sells a pressure washer with a Subaru engine and has electric start, guys will use these for anywhere from 8 -12 hrs and just check fuel and oil let it cool for awhile. they have said really not bad on fuel at all. about a tank a day, 2.4 gallons, even my Honda powered one is no better than it.

    Too bad Subaru discontinued their manufacture of small industrial engines. To me they are every bit as good as Honda engines. I have a generator and a pressure washer powered by Subaru and they always start right up after sitting for several months. Besides the gearing issues you already noted I would suggest you remove the governor, and also that you get the air cleaner out of the path of any mud and water from the rear right tire maybe by fitting it a 90 degree bend and raising up several inches, maybe with a neopreme rubber elbow from the plumbing section of your local hardware store. Pugly vs Yerf Dog would be a fun video. I think you should rename Pugly "Fugly" or better yet "Fugly Pugly".

  • @olds97lss
    @olds97lss 6 лет назад

    At this point, I can't believe you guys even try using a normal clutch anymore. The torque converters just work so much better and make driving the thing a lot better experience overall.

  • @th3d3wd3r
    @th3d3wd3r 6 лет назад

    That's the thing that's hard to get used too with electric vehicles. My ebike has a hub motor in the rear wheel, that gets me from standstill up to 60mph at a rediculous clip. From standstill it produces approx 180lb/ft of torque, but that's what it takes when all you have is one long gear and you still want to get to a reasonable top speed

    • @th3d3wd3r
      @th3d3wd3r 6 лет назад

      Also, yes, that's an absurd amount of torque for a downhill mountain bike. If you try to put all that down from standstill, you'll just loop it.

      I'm also looking for an intake to use with a mikuni on an EX21 like this. I bought a dingo with an EX17 so it took the head and swapped it to the EX21 but want to run a bigger carb... Can't find an intake though. Anyone know where to find one?

      @@jarrodthome The only performance parts I'found specifically for the ex17 thru ex21 Subaru Robins were from Aussiesports in Australia, as they have (had?) a class for racing them...They build full engine kits and sell a full array of parts for a "KX21", a is their racing kart engine...I have heard they get some internal parts from ARC in the US, but not sure if their intakes (they have several options for the subies) are...the aussie-to-US shipping has gone down quite considerably in the last couple years, so it might be doable now, as it had been ridiculous ...they do have it all though, from cool dress-up kits, to cranks, cams, n heads

    What carb would you guys recommend for a slightly smaller b&s version of the 670? The carb has worn out and I can’t find anything on what the engine series is. Gonna make a go kart. It’s an I/C intek Briggs 18 horse from at least 1983. Keep up the good work! Hope to see the mower back in action!

      Corbin Boltz I cant buy a carb kit; I have no clue as to the engine serial, and it says nothing about it on the block. Also, I have a very basic idea on the price of mower carbs from that time. $130. Vs, what, $80 on top of cc10 if it’s from gps.
