    My brother in law did a lot of renovation to the trailer they lived in. When he started working on the hallway bathroom he stripped out much of the under insulation to work on pipes. His plan was to reinsulate with greater r value. While he was in the process of stripping the insulation but ran out of daylight my sister kept telling him she could hear cats meowing. He laughed at her. Then when he removed the last bit of under insulation he found out a stray mama cat had crawled up in there to have her kittens where it was warmer than the ground here in NW WI.

    Have you talked to your neighbor that owns the cats? If they don’t get them spayed soon you’re both gonna have kittens.
    If you asked your members I’m sure you’d get enough donations to have the spayings done.

    It's better to have the metal roof put on before you start the finishing process inside. We were lucky when we bought ours the roof had been taken care of with the coating put on throughout the years. So it lasted from 88 untill maybe 2022 when we added our porches and then covered the house and the porches with metal. You will save time and money in the long run. Love to you all!❤

    It sure took the crud off the siding. I figured the batteries would have lasted a little longer. If you decide to return it check out the plug in kind. You'll have to install a outlet and run an extension cord but you won't have to worry about batteries going dead too soon. Just a thought.

    • @diyfferent
      @diyfferent  6 месяцев назад +2

      I'll try it out on the siding before making a decision. It worked good. But my 4ah batteries sure drained fast on high setting. But then again, all of my tools drain pretty fast when run continuously so I'm not super shocked by that.

    Been there. Sometimes, the fork in the road and a new direction is best. I just started working on a 1970s trailer/MH and I wish I had the money to strip it bare and fix it like you did. The midline is sinking and I don't know what to do. It is a rental, but still, people deserve a decent place to live. It's not a dump, it is just dated. Thanks guys for keeping me motivated. Every time I work on it, I think of you.

    Give everything a spray down with a mold/algae spray and let it sit before using the pressure washer on it. I have a "concrete cleaning" solution I run through my pressure washer on its lowest setting and let it soak everything for 15-20 minutes. Then come back with full power and let it rip

    I have an outbuilding that was built out of recycled materials. Crazy construction and not plumb at all. A roofer refused to reroof it when it developed a horrible leak. He told me to get some friends and simply put new metal roofing on top of the leaking metal roofing. That's what i did. A neighbor did the same thing on his self-built house when his metal roofing kept leaking. Just covered it over with new metal roofing.

    Just rent a pressure washer, than apply a rubber sealant. I did that for my mother 20 years ago and the new owners still have not had any issues. Key is to prime first, after pressure washing and apply a thick coating only during morning hours. Roof can not be hot. God Bless.

    One thing you could do when you are installing a new roof is space it sligly away from the old roof (basicly screw in stringers horizontally and across the roofframes and lay on plywood or osb and go over that with roofing felt or steel roofing , doing it this way creates an airgap betwee the two roofs wish helps a LOT keeping the sun beting down on it from heating up the interior , You can allso install nice eves to the sides and give the double wide more of a house feel , just make sore you dont go too wide as it still needs to be able to be transported , i remember one channel that had there home moved from one state to another and they had to take a saw to their roof because the trailer ended up too wide to be moved without a special licence , he made it wider to stop rainwater comming off the roof from running down the sides of the trailer

    The roof on our old mobile home is very similar material to yours, except it doesn't have a pitch. We saved up and did a metal roof-over before starting on the inside. You are so right that you want to make sure of your roof before more investment inside. "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." Stay flexible, pivot when needed, go with the flow. If you are going to Re-Roof, maybe put the new roof on using shaped metal battens that work well with corrugated iron roof panels as they give an approx. 2 inch air gap between the existing roof and new roof, further insulating the inside of the home, just so long as the built up hot air in the air gap has some way of escaping at the ridge cap peak.
