COD is stale and every new release is rinse and repeat, but yet the sheep keep buying it. Yes BF has had struggles at launch, but the developers kept with it and it's an excellent game now. The scale of BF is what sets it apart from COD and with that comes more bugs. The devs kept working on and improving the game and it's an excellent game now.
