I work in quantum computing. My message to everyone is to learn mathematics. The news tries their best to explain quantum computing using words but you will feel that the explanation is never complete. That's because the full explanation can only be given in maths. Words and languages were developed to talk about the world of large objects that we experience. When physicists look at the atomic and subatomic level , they use mathematics, because words and language don't fully capture the behaviour of quantum mechanics. You need maths.
As much as I have issues with this government on focus towards startups, reasearch,etc,... I really appreciate recent developments of space policy and this quantum computing funding 👏👏
well 50 years back the previous government invested in ISRO,DRDO, AND nuclear technology! this government is doing a good job pushing technology forward
But later in these 50 years, the govts didn't learn from other nations to democratise the process. Countries like Israel had start-ups even before this term was coined.
@Kraken Thunder Britain, Norway, China are not suffering with socialist mindset, why India. India do not have democracy, but feudocracy. Change that and everything will get better.

This is a really great step by the government. This technology is bound to be huge and totally game changing in the future and it is important to enter early in this. One more area where India entered quite early given that we got our independence in 1947 is Space research and that's the reason we are one of the few nations in the world to have achieved what we have achieved. I know the current generation these day is so much against Congress and Pandit Nehru, and would not deny that there would be some valid reasons for it, but to have a vision for space research in 1962 when India was surrounded by a million issues and widespread hunger and poverty, is really beyond commandable.

Excellent topic and very well explained..I have one feedback for the team here…topics such as these need a bit more in terms of graphics or visualisation…people who understand such topics will get gripped onto this but some will lose interest if they can’t visualise…for example when he was explaining the photons released during electrons moving in an atom it can be visualised easily…such efforts will increase viewership…keep it up…from a regular listener
This is objectively not how quantum computing works. The bureaucrat didn't correct her, because he has no idea either. I hope the fund reaches the right scientists.
He is a senior advisor and can't even correctly explain superposition of electrons. And the assistant editor confusing audiance between parallel computing and quantum computing
As india becomes most populous country, we need a well educated youth, which can spend well. But despite education our workforce is being exploited by foreign and many indian companies itself.
While I admire the initiative and understand the budget allocated to this is insignificant compared to overall government spending, why is the government taking such initiatives? Classical computing offers enough computing power to realize Nehru's tech-solutionism. During the interview, Dr. Gupta mentioned we'll develop a market for this technology through collaborations. Shouldn't the government's scientific projects be driven by its own demand?
Wonderful Initiative! We have a long way to go and move faster if we gotta overtake other nations. But, this is clearly a step forward in the right direction.
Yes, I will appreciate the gesture of Indian Government towards Quantum. But if anybody who listens to Rajiv Malhotra ji, you would know, how far behind India is in his field. We've been crying for ages.

This is a great effort, but unfortunately India is behind the curve. China is decades ahead - they are both a quantum superpower and AI superpower. They already have QCs that are operational. One thing I dont agree here is that there are already "operational" quantum computers. IBM has a website where you can submit your program, and it will simulate inside IBM's QC. India does not have a proper high performance computing industry from what I know. US, Europe and CHina all have their own supercomputers and they compete with each other for the faster HPC. HPC should be developed from all fronts , not only QC among other critical technologies. It is late , but nevertheless an excellent effort. The best
