We had a Maytag store in Claremore, ok in the 60's, 70's and 80's. People would call and ask for ole' lonely! Me! Lol had a lot of with that one! Went to many week long factory training seminars in Newton. Went down to the hotel bar and every local in there worked for Maytag!
I did see this movie at a suppliers event in Chicago in early 2000.........never forget Jesse White and Gordon Jump. We were at Maytag Neptune times---
Whats really sad to see is how close this was made to the end of the brand. How they said Maytag should live on forever at the end, when in reality it only had a few years left....
The first whirkpool made Maytag washers were the direct drives, and those were highly reliable but right I miss Maytags real brand, with a long stroke back n fourth agitator. They were iconic with the blue powerfin agitators. Such good sounding machines too I can’t wait to find one to own
Those were not very good quality machines. Anything made after 1999 was junk from Maytag….the real Maytags were the 80s and prior machines with the blue powerfin agitators. Those were REAL washers with real durability and reliability
Now (since the takeover by Whirlpool) Maytag washers are the opposite of the dependable machines they once were. Complete pieces of unmitigated, flimsy garbage that perform poorly, go out of balance at the drop of a hat and notorious for breakdowns and customer dissatisfaction. The company doesn't give a fuck about you or how shitty their machines are and repair costs are obscene.
GOT ONE IN 1973 FIRST WIFE LOVED IT GOT NEW WIFE 18 YEARS LATER SHE LOVED IT TO GOT NEW WIFE 12 YEARS LATER SHE LOVED IT MORE THAN ME SHE TOOK IT WITH HER THE ONLY THING THAT EVER BROKE WAS MY HEART MISS MY MAYTAG WASHER

The title of that job is a position called sweeping the roof
So sad to see that the REAL Maytag is gone. Now it's just Whirlpool crap.

You're absolutely right it was so much better when it was Maytag and not whirlpool thank God we're still some good ole Maytags around
The Neptune. The first Maytag to suck. Thanks Whirlpool. Now Old Lonely is now very busy.
Hey at least he's not lonely anymore!
But I agree. Whirlpool is crap
what if it's still 90's.the real Maytag was alive and I was 7!
That's funny, My mother's Maytag Atlantis washer needed to be repaired four times in 11 years. Now Maytag is owned by Whirlpool. What went wrong?
+Bill Slater You've said it yourself. It's Maytag in name only. It's just another crappy WP.
The neptune is what nearly did them in.
The Atlantis was when they started to downfall in quality especially with the bad seals and non serviceable transmission
Ralph Hake outsource to Mexico and half the parts were junk. My dad thought he worked at a freak show by the end

That’s not just Maytag that’s every single new washer excluding speed Queens TC500 or whatever it is. Their all absolutely disgusting machines
A very accurate statement. It has got even worse since you posted this.
Sadly this company was bought by whirlpool....
Find me a brand new, 2018 top loader that can beat the Maytag MVWP575GW. I'll wait...
