The Houston area had 8 times the normal May rainfall; ground was so saturated so the trees which don't have a deep root structure were doomed and with the wind, they lost the battle.
I grew up in Houston during the 80s and 90s. And in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, honestly I remember just a handful of big weather events. I vaguely remember hurricane Alicia in 1983, then there was a big winter freeze in 1989, a big flood around 1994, tropical storm Allison in 2001, and then hurricane Ike in 2008. 5 big weather events over 3 decades. Now compare that with everything that's happened to Houston since 2015, the last 9 years. Memorial Day flood, Tax Day flood, hurricane Harvey, tropical storm Imelda, winter blizzard freeze storm of 2021, and I want to say there was another winter freeze storm around 2018....and now this. I'm sure I've missed something in the past 9 years.
Gotta hope these houses get rebuilt with the NEXT storm in mind. It’ll probably add 15-20% to the cost - but better than 100% again in 5-10 years. And it’s a plus when trying to keep your home insurance from being canceled.
My brother and I have a home in Virginia we hate trees near our home 2019 took 13 big ones gone I don’t ever have to worry about messing up our home from a fallen tree
This is what happens when people want to spend money on cheap construction 🌳 roots get damaged and mess with mother nature every thing has consequences God bless this community!!! And everyone hit by this strong storm.⛈️
Look at these folks. They had a tree crash into their house. They are upset but calm. Hope people take note instead of getting frustrated and demanding we need service now! Entitlement, will get you no help.
I lived in the Heights for 20 years. First on Arlington at White Oak and then 25th at Cortlandt. The clean up after Ike was so depressing and dusty and seemed to last forever. I send all of my neighbors and friends positive thoughts as they move through the process of cleanup and recovery.
My prayer is that the overpriced insurance policies they all have been paying actually keeps in mind to do the right thing and make their lives whole again and not actively try to find loops hole to not pay! And when they pay out that next year's policy doesn't double!
Im a senior citizen and my kid and family live out of state. I don’t have anyone to help me. None of my neighbors have offered to help and they don’t look like they want to be asked😢
I am saddened your kid hasn't hopped on a plane to come and support you the way a son or daughter should! If they can't be there for their mom now when you need it the most, then when???
Yet they say they are the best country in the world.. while their houses are built of wood and paper towels glued together with powder to make something called sheet rock😅

Live oak trees are strong but shallow roots, so they get uprooted and blow over. Pine trees have deep deep roots, so they have a strong base. they snap, and sadly, most pine trees out here are huge, so when they snap, they tend to fall on something
My son lives in the Heights. Thank God no damage and safe🙏
Praying for everyone involved with all this mess

They're without power, but the neighbor is without the side of there house..

That houses siding looks like it was made out of sheet rock. Is it just me??
Hard to tell. Let’s hope it was fiber cement.
Looks cheap
Several tons of tree would make almost any material sheer off a house
It’s crazy but that’s toranado damage for sure 😢😢😢

I never be buying any house that got big giant trees. This. Is the result 😢

Prayers for you all. My Son lives in The Heights. Trees fell on The Family vehicles and Power lines. Praise God, no one was injured.
That goes to show you how rich people are more important than poor people. These aren’t houses. These are mansions with insurance.
Ok I’m having the 60ft tree in my backyard removed.
This is what happens when people want to spend money on cheap construction 🌳 roots get damaged and mess with mother nature every thing has consequences God bless this community!!! And everyone hit by this strong storm.⛈️
Are you slow ? Lmao 🤣 you would literally have to build a STEEL home
Go look up material costs and tell me how much that is
Probably less than rebuilding again after the NEXT storm
Precast concrete and hurricane roofs are the only way to build and get rid of the damn trees they can destroy anything
Sure

Why are homes in US made with paper , wood just curious
Yet they say they are the best country in the world.. while their houses are built of wood and paper towels glued together with powder to make something called sheet rock😅
Who will pay for the damaged, the owner who owned the tree or the neighbor pay to fix the house?
big ole pecan tree with no roots
Ugh of course
Would love to work with those people in cleaning up but 😞 I am very far away.
Your comment helps no one sir!

This is why we have the Rodeo so it the power goes out? You can use your BBQ pit to cook food. To have a back up plan.
Pray for Palestinians too.

You are 5' 9", the tree much taller.
A little Bondo for his truck and he'll be ready to go.
Tjank God he did not try tomove his truck during the storm. I like his attitude, the truck can be replaced!
Thunderstorms Do Not Do This Damage, Man's Manipulation Not God's Weather!
Jesus bless their hearts. I'm in Ga. And we had many trees down in our area as well.

The insurance cost… we can’t afford this….
Who cares just send a few more hundred billion to Zaloonsky the mega grifter
It's a really rough deal with that horrible storm.
