  • In 2013 Lindsay Gray was commissioned, together with a handful of other composers, to write a piece to celebrate the 65th birthday of Simon Lindley, long-serving organist of Leeds Minster. The text is a Christmas poem by Bishop Timothy Dudley Smith - the renowned hymn-writer best known for Tell out my soul - whom Lindsay came to know during his time as Director of the Royal School of Church Music. Listen out in the last of the four verses for the reference in the tenor part to the tune ‘Happy birthday’ at the text ‘Lord of all to earth’!
