I have been in a crochet funk, with the two hurricanes that hit my area, I live in Florida, on the west coast, I just didn't feel like crocheting. I think this hat will pull me out of it!!! I made this hat, and I love it! You've addressed a couple of concerns I had about "chaining three" with the "stacked single crochet!" I also liked the transition stitches for the brim. This was THE BEST tutorial I have found on RUclips!
My brim is WAY off. Idk if it's the yarn or what but I've made two and they're both off. I'm going to redo it with a 4.5 and compare it to the other two. Ugh
I'm pretty experienced and I'm stuck on the brim. I did one that measures the right size but has more than 78 rows. The next one I also did with a 4mm hook and crocheted really loose. I'm at 78 rows and it's still too small. So I'm restarting a third time but with a 4.5 or a 5 mm hook.

Hi, if I need more than 72 stiches (for a larger size) how many stiches do I have to increase the brim with to make the granny pattern work properly? Br Anna
Yes! It just keeps the stitch tighter and neater so when you go and do that round you go through bith instead of having the looser tension from a back loop only stitch
@o2lawesomeness625 thats good. I ended up doing it on every row and was surprised how straight the rows were and there werent any loose stitches. I started at a craft show that was slow and was so glad I brought something to work on. :)

So did you do a single crochet thru both the 1st/last sc of every row from #2-72 or just on row 2? I dont usually do hats from the bottom up
