This game has so much more depth than what is shown in the video.
You can actually use any key at any time to click, some maps (mostly the custom maps) go so fast, that you absolutely have to use more than 1 key at a time.
There are certain blocks that when you land on them your rotation can change, so understanding the game by "clockwise = fast, counter clockwise = slow" is an error and will cause you many problems when you finally reach the rotation blocks.
Been playing this game a bit, imo it's a very fun game, takes an approach to rhythm games that I haven't seen yet.
It's always cool when someone comes up with a new idea for a rhythm game. The funny part is, there's so many different rhythm games that it always seems like all the ideas are taken, but then someone comes up with something completely new!

@@staticwave9611 Here let me say something about GD and you can tell me if I'm totally off the mark.
The reason GD is a rhythm game is that it generally requires precise inputs, and the detection is extremely accurate, to the point that levels often contain both visual AND audio cues for when to press, and extremely difficult levels lean heavily on the audio side. If you're playing one of the intro levels, you could say that it's just one-button platforming based on visual reaction time, which you could still do if you muted the game. But as soon as they start getting hard, it becomes a rhythm game. (And of course the game is optimized to sync each level with a music track, because the devs understand this side of the game and fully intended it.)
@@Nat_the_Chicken isn't a rhythm game :/ It's a music based game and music isn't needed Id say it's a music based game so rhythm isn't really needed as the music is just enchantment of the game unlike other games where there wouldn't be much appeal if there wasn't music.

Honestly the closest thing to a gateway drug for rhythm games is geometry dash.
I just started playing this game about two weeks ago. You are correct. I have subsequently fallen into the rhythm game hole.

every rhythm game looks like a nightmare to sight read if you’ve never seen its gameplay before. as someone who plays adofai a lot, you can actually sight-read levels pretty well once you get good at the harder stages

There's some issues with figuring out the right tempo of a song on first listen, but being able to have the rhythms visualized in such a simple yet easily understood way makes it so rewarding to learn all the different patterns and track shapes and apply that into an actual level. I'm currently huge into adofai and I've been able to sight read a good amount of easy-medium maps like this!

What I really love about this game is how the angles represent note durations, and the shapes that are made with them represent rhythmic patterns. It brings out the music theory nerd in me, big-time.
Of course the maps start to lose that magic as soon as they start getting incredibly complex and difficult... most of the super-long/super-hard user maps I've seen are made up of fast but mostly even presses mapped to look super cool, and when they do use complex rhythms they go so fast that it's just hard for the eye or ear to really comprehend them. This is why I wish rhythm games didn't always have to descend into the realm of extreme difficulty. Can't there be a lot of _casual_ maps for a game? Do they _have_ to be sensationally fast and difficult past a certain point such that one is forced to specialize?

It's that 79 - 81% on world 5 that is the real pain. It's almost a rite of passage to get traumatized by that loop. I haven't met a single person who plays this game that didn't struggle with it when they were starting out.
Immediately installed it after seeing the video. Throw more money at tokaku.
Despite only one finger, this game is actually pretty hard in guessing what beats that will come because of the rotation and the track (S turns, squares and even triangles), especially in speed tempo.
Geometry Dash is pretty much the same, but its tempo can be much more insane.

could you try the groove coaster series of rhythm games? its made by taito (the same people who made space invaders) and it was originally an arcade title then GC2 was ported over to mobile with an original style and arcade style map variations (the main difference is arcade style, or AC, requires 2 fingers/hands to play) and I feel you will greatly enjoy it

I bought this game a few months ago and kinda quit but now that you made a video, I might want to get back into it. The editor and maps are kind of a pain to deal with, as it's not cloud based maps and there is no website to go to for downloads, but just completely discord based. But I might give it a shot again and name my 4 or 5 bucks worth it.
There's also Steam Workshop support now too. It's a lot more convenient to download songs through the game now.

This game is deceptively easy which makes it both difficult and addicting. Simple visuals, simple controls, simple concept but damn do some of the songs test your limits and sanity.

thespeedyyoshi Yep I'm Singaporean! The whole subtitles thing was because I was afraid English audiences can't understand me because of my accent. Now I know people can understand me fine but it's a huge habit (although high effort) and its very beneficial to people who can't hear very well, can't use audio on the bus/MRT, or people who are still learning English!
I contribute a lot of my success to my subtitles to be honest, a wider audience can enjoy my videos because of it :)
sometimes I get Japanese comments saying hi and they like my videos so I'm thinking the subtitles help them better understand since reading is easier than listening
