Gino Tan Only the mean and power greedy queen’s yelling and screaming sounded so annoying! She, her mother and brother thought everyone is stupid, only they are smart to scheme and plot against the former queen and Dongyi! They deserve all the punishments they brought upon themselves!
That's what makes a good drama show. The good can only be exemplified when there are really vicious people. I feel that the Queen's acting skills are superb when it comes to portraying different emotions, it stirs the audience heart when she is so ruthless & evil and that's what makes revenge so sweet.
My apologies to everyone who got headache reading my post about how Kings and Queen were called.. Anyway, the look on Dong Yi's face is priceless when Ok Jeoung throws the bottle and then says, "it is YOU AND DEPOSED QUEEN who will be destroyed!" Dong Yi seems to be saying to herself, "this woman has gone mad!" Wow.. And then King makes his "grand entrance"....

Korean Kings and Queens were called "Your Majesty", not "Your Highness", like any other Royalties around the world. "Your Highness" was reserved for Crown Prince, Crown Princess and other Princes and Princesses, just like any other Royal Houses. But in Korean Dynasty, Kings and Queens' official royal names were given AFTER their deaths. Every King or Queen received his/her official royal name AFTER his/her death to be recorded in the Royal Book and to be called by later. So the King was just called "His Majesty" and the Queen "Her Majesty." And the Queen called the King "Your Majesty." A Queen wouldn't even dream of calling the King "Sire." And the King simply called the Queen Consort "Queen." The name "In Hyun" was name given to this Queen AFTER her death. But in the subtitle translation, the King kept calling Queen In Hyun "In Hyun" while it should have been just "Queen" while she was alive. You would hear the King calling the Queen "Joong Jeun." That is how the King called his Queen while she was alive. And in this episode, the King came in calling Ok Jeung "Joong Jeun," but then began calling her "Ok Jeung." That's true. But I think the translators were translating direct from whatever the actors said so the fault lie in the actual script. Hence, the writers themselves made the errors.:D I'm just guessing since I only understand a little Korean.
No, OG21020, Korean is rather hard language to learn, because there are few forms of calling a person. As for the scrip, it's excellent, but the translation that is bad is in telling us how the royal family was called. Allow me to give you a headache in telling you how a King, Queen, Crown Prince, Crown Princess were called. King - Ju Sang Juen Ha, and just Juen Ha, Your/His Majesty Queen - Joon Juen Mama, and just Mama, Her/Your Majesty Crown Prince - Sai Ja Jue Ha, and just Jue Ha His/Your Highness Crown Princess - Bin Goong Mama and just Mama Her/Your Highness. 'Mama is a title used by those inferior to Queen or Crown Princess or even concubines with inferior rank when talking to the other with higher ranks. You will notice Dong Yi calling Ok Jeung "Mama!" I forgot the important thing... King would call Queen Consort "Queen" Queen would call King "Your Majesty" King and Queen would call Crown Prince "Sai Ja" Crown Princess would be called "Bing Goong" by all the above. Whew! I guess that's it!

Even potrayed as antagonist, i like actress who potrayed Queen Jang in Dong Yi series rather than in JOJ series. She make queen's character look very powerfull but elegant in the same time. Actress who played as Queen Min also great too. She make queen's character look soft, lovely, and kind. Two queens have each persona.

if i may suggest you guys the drama of dae jang geum.. jewel of the palace.. that drama also was great..! to compare between this two drama.. i still choose jewel of the palace.. but still dong yi is one of the best drama i have seen.. 😄
어릴 때 여러번 보고 지금 한 5번째?6번째? 커서 보니까 숙종에 이입되서 장옥정을 보게된다... 더이상 무너지는 모습을 보고싶지 않다는게 뭔의미인지 너무 와닿아,.... 그 사랑하던 연인이 결국 사랑과 권욕에 차올라 무너지는 것을 서서히 보다가 폭발하는 것을... 어떻게 보겠어... 이소연 배우님 진짜 연기... 최고....!!
This scene was heartbreaking. One to see the king watch his lover turn into the devil, and also to see Ok Jung turn into this hateful person. Dong Yi handled it very well
I totally agree. It made me wonder what a could have been if Ok Jung wasn’t hateful and jealous. Underneath it all she loved the king with all her heart. In a weird way my least favorite queen of the 3 was Dong Yi.
I actually feel sad for Jang Ok Jung and the King since their love WAS actually real until all this power fights in the palace that change Ok Jung. I have watched Jang Ok Jung, Live in love so I can actually understand why she is this desperate.
Regardless, queen Jang was evil in history. U only feel 'pity' for her as she was the 'protagonist' of the drama (live by love, Jang ok Jang) and also, the drama was not as accurate as Dong Yi the drama was. (But they're both kind of inaccurate) BTW, they definitely have to make changes to the original history as the king slept with dong Yi when dong Yi was like 13 and yeah... (Which i think Jang ok Jang did hav a similar scene) that's the 'original' history but even then, Jang ok Jang was evil. EVIL...

I actually feel sad for Jang Ok Jung and the King since their love WAS actually real until all this power fights in the palace that change Ok Jung. I have watched Jang Ok Jung, Live in love so I can actually understand why she is this desperate.

Regardless, queen Jang was evil in history. U only feel 'pity' for her as she was the 'protagonist' of the drama (live by love, Jang ok Jang) and also, the drama was not as accurate as Dong Yi the drama was. (But they're both kind of inaccurate) BTW, they definitely have to make changes to the original history as the king slept with dong Yi when dong Yi was like 13 and yeah... (Which i think Jang ok Jang did hav a similar scene) that's the 'original' history but even then, Jang ok Jang was evil. EVIL...
I do not. The way insane it if she stayed and only bit when she was bitten this would not have happened to her. She was desperate and greed ended engulfing her.
