Interview a Common Public (just one Guy) not partial to anybody to expose their views on Politics, Cinema, Current Affairs, Current World.. It would be Voice Out of Entire Public Towards This Society and it also Reveals the Expectation of a Common Public from this Society.

Excellent Interview . Rakesh theatre owner gave a different picture from theater side . It made me to understood their pain . Like he said there needs to be flexibility in ticket pricing for weekends and weekdays to bring in more people . Many got frustrated with Kabali ticket pricing . Instead of selling snacks at low or very huge profits if they maintain middle position sales might increase .

Being an theatre owner myself I can relate to everything he says...absolutely right...theaters in city's are atleast surviving through cafeteria imagine the plight of theaters in rural areas...unmaya solanum na a medical shop or even tea shop will make better profit than us ...already most theaters in rural tn are either shut down or being converted to kalyana mandapam...vetti Permai mattum dan eruku paisa illa Inda biz la anymore!...

Such an amazing interview! Thanks Gowtham for sharing us the insights. Plenty of topics have been covered. I've seen people blatantly admitting that they don't watch movies in theatre due to the ticket price. It's been almost 10 years since the TN government had imposed the 120 price slab. Some theatres are equipped with the recent advancements; yet, they can't reap in any profits due to the ticket price. In the end, it's not only about business, there's passion involved in it as well.

Well done Maathevan. It was a Good interview, insights from this give the behind the scenes (business) perspective of How Camera to Screen works. As a part of it, this video gives an idea of efforts and measures taken by some theatres and thier pain points. I am not sure about the authenticity of the numbers, but got the skeleton of it. Looking forward to the other ones.

thanks for bringing the reality. its really hard for the theatre owners. i think the price of 120 cap is for more than 6-8 years, did the actors salary didn't raise in the last 6 years?.what was the price of milk, sugar 6 years back and Now.? TN govt should interfere, and introduce flexible pricing , which should be a win-win situation to the public and owners.

    • @GauthamMPurl

I would say we can index the prices with the inflation numbers is better rather than providing flexibility. 120(current price)+6(5 percent of 120)=126 for next year. Of course they can decrease the price to whatever they want below this price of 120 to ensure occupancy. This way can keep affordability in check. What say?

interview was so good i like it so much.
now a days power is the main problem theatre are required more power to run all their utilities.
They have the huge space in roof that they can also take steps to generate solar power this will minimize there Electricity bills.
I seen 1 foreign theater generation power from each audience by peddling while watching movie. this can also be done in chennai.
Now a days more people want to do cycling to keep them fit .But in india we dnt have separate cycle track.
Theatre owner has to do some innovative things to attract more audience.

Very nice & informative interview. Somehow, I feel that in your interviews, you do manage to get genuine answers from your guests. For eg: Rakesh even gave complete cost structure. Good work. Did this happen as you have shown? Or did you have to ask & prod multiple times to get answers, and then edited these repeated questions out? Either way, eager to see your next interviews!!

    clarity answer from rakesh...!!!

  • @giridharankumaravelu2771
    @giridharankumaravelu2771 7 лет назад

A very clear insightful and informative video about theatre business! I did some calculations to cross check,
    Calculation time (Worst case scenario):
    In one screen,
    120 Rs/ticket* (0.3*1000) tickets/show*4 shows/day*30 days = 120*300*120= 43,20,000
    Revenue after tax, 4320000*(1-0.3) = 3024000
Profit remaining after giving to distributor=12,09,600
    Profit after EB and Wages= 12,09,600 - 5,00,000 = 7,09,600
But the point is the 30% occupancy happens only in the weekends of 4 days  meaning 16 days a month. So just half the profit he will get which is still 3,54,800 Rupees.
However, he says that he gets only up to 50,000 per month. Should be a lot other unknown factors then!
Plus the profit earned in the cafetaria.
    Any corrections?

I'm eager to know more detailed on how the movie sales from producer to distributor to theatre owner.. How they collect crores of money for big movies and little for small movies..
Also eager to know, how do Behindwoods (or other websites) earn money.. it would be awesome.. I guess advertisement would be one of them.
