While I agree Bloo can be a hypothetical ass most of the time , I genuinely think he's a good character. He hides behind this rough , rude exterior , turns his sadness into anger , and while yes , he has quite the ego , he still is shown to care about the people he's close too. A good example of this is adoptocalypse , when he and Mac try and stop everyone from getting adopted for the fact Bloo cared about them and didn't wanna lose them. His character may have gotten pretty awful towards the end of the series , but he's still a rather relatable , and down to earth character.

Then, after Red is created, Bloo thinks he's there because his brother sent him to torment Mac, so he attempts to get rid of him by making the life of what he thinks is another bully as cartoonishly miserable as possible. But after Bloo realises he had Red figured out all wrong, he apologises and attempts to comfort, and it works and they become friends, and Red in the end beats up the older brother himself, who took advance of Bloo being distracted to torment Mac

I’d chalk it up to trauma. Think about it: his best friend was forced to give him away, then Bloo was treated unfairly compared to Mac. The other friends forgot about him being in danger twice and even chickened out when he needed to be saved, even though they saved Mac and (unbeknownst to Bloo) Duchess from the same threat. Heck, it took Mac throwing himself in danger for the gang to save Bloo! If I was him, that would’ve made me feel worthless. Chances are Bloo amped up his bombastic troublemaking side as a defense mechanism, fearing he’ll be forgotten or hurt like that again if he doesn’t toughen up. It makes me sad because he wasn’t a bad guy. He became a jerk with a heart of gold, still caring about his friends and always coming through for them. But even though he succeeded in being unforgettable, from season 2 onward his friends still made some pretty deep cuts that I’m willing to bet they’d never do if it was anyone else. There were plenty of times where Bloo’s friends were too harsh on him and they kept pushing him further, never realizing they were the problem.
I really love it when Bloo is actually nice in his own way. Even though he’s a trouble maker he sometimes saves Mac and make sure he’s ok, loves Ed even though he’d almost never admit it, and he even has fun with Frankie once in a while despite their differences

I honestly see that as Mac gets older they grow more and more apart. Mac growing up while Bloo remains the stupid, obnoxious freak we know him to be.
