Thanks for the detailed review of the cowboy Ken. He has not yet arrived in the US. I am surprised how detailed his outfit is compared to the other dolls. But that glued down hair! I have been washing out the gel from Ken's hair and use water based pomade to style the hair with good results. Anyway, this dolls has amazing details that I just didn't expect from Mattel.
Yes I was pleasantly surprised to see such good details on his outfit. Highly recommended doll to collect if you can only choose one. And since he comes in black pair of jeans, we can always use the jeans for other top. His hair on the other hand, I'm still uncertain how to re-style it with confidence. Lol...
I was most excited for this Ken. I might either get this Ken or the one in pastel stripes, but I need to be patient and wait until they are all released so I can pick the one best Ken and best Barbie. There are so many options. My older sister had the Western Ken so some of my earliest memories of Ken dolls are him dressed as a cowboy.
He's a perfect match for western Barbie. Unfortunately I didn't manage to buy her. So, I've only got this Ken, waiting for Barbie, just like in the movie. 😅
Cowboy Ken is very adorable and has a well made outfit, but I think I still prefer Surfing Ken out of all the “Ryan” dolls so far. Mattel is also supposed to release a Ken with his fur coat, so hopefully we’ll see pictures of him soon. The ending was a lil bit unexpected. I was a bit sad the movie ended, I think because I was looking forward for the movie so much and when it ended, I was stunned. How did u find the ending?

Barbie: the movie references The Wizard of Oz a lot, so I’m actually really surprised by how it ended. I still really enjoyed the movie, though. It was a 9/10 film for me. ✨ Anyway, for anyone trying avoid spoilers … stop reading now, lol. ✨ Also, while I understand that her feelings of anxiety and depression were due to the connection with Gloria, it still didn’t make sense (at least to me) why she wanted to become human. Why do you think that happened? Maybe it was a reference to The Velveteen Rabbit (another story about a toy that to comes to life) or perhaps it’s a metaphor for how women in general just want to be seen as human beings? 🤔 So many interesting theories. I’d love to hear more of your thoughts if you’re comfortable sharing them. And if anyone else wants to add their thoughts about the film too, please do so. ❤️
@@connierod6965 the ending got me thinking that Barbie the Movie might have a sequel. I may be extremely wrong, but that's the only way we would know why the movie ended this way. It's as if she's going to go for a new adventure and we're left to wonder. But I do hope that there's a sequel.
I just received mine today! Mine’s hair made him look like a cone head, I managed to make him look good by brushing it though! I also put the longer front part outside of the hat (like the emo boy beanie look) and he looks great now! Even if you don’t like the look with the hair out of the hat, you can leave it like that for a bit just to shape it!
Yeayyyy congratulations on the purchase!!! The heavily gelled hair is quite awful but of course, I prefer rooted hair than moulded on hair for Ken. Just wished the hair cut could be done better.

Yeah no horse necklace and books, lol... The jeans are slightly thinner material than human sized jeans. But in Malaysia, our jeans are rather thin too. Lol... I would say, his jeans is not the thinnest type of material. I'm still having the Barbie Movie fever. Sigh.

Getting him was challenging because toy stores here in Bangladesh, were refusing to have him shipped here. I almost gave up hopes on getting him until my luck just turned around and I got to know, that local importers (like online stores) exist here too. So I reached out to the importer for help and got this Western Ken through Amazon US 📦✈️💙 My ultimate goal was to get this doll pair together and I finally did it ! 🥳 Both Western Barbie and Western Ken are here with me today ✨

Back in the 80s and the 90s (when I was born), toy stores here didn’t even know who Barbie was ! ☹️ Well, they didn’t get to know her really well until the late 2000s to the early 2010s (when they first started having fashionista dolls of her shipped here)… by the time I was in my late teen years and had all my old Barbie dolls taken away from me by my own mom who claimed that I was ‘too old’ to own them now 💔 I was forced to grow up without a Barbie doll until I turned 9 in 2001, my life’s first ever Barbie was a birthday present from a neighbour. My parents (specially my misogynistic dad) never wanted me to grow up with Barbie (given, that she’s a symbol of women empowerment). The only way I ever got Barbie dolls back in those days was through presents from friends or relatives. I was 16 when all my Barbies (including my life’s very 1st one) were put into a large cardboard box and taken away from me, by my very own mom. I found him in TRU Sunway Pyramid on the 20th July. I just had some time over the weekend to record the unboxing of this Ken.
