Leech Seed and Toxic stacking (Generation I)

- In Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow using Leech Seed when the opposing Pokémon is already badly poisoned causes Leech Seed's damage to increase every turn as if it was Toxic, because Leech Seed and Toxic both use the same damage algorithm (N * max(1, int(0.0625*MaxHP). N usually doesn't increase if the opponent is under Leech Seed without being badly poisoned but badly poisoning the opponent Pokémon first causes it to do so and make Leech Seed sap progressively more damage every turn.
This was 'fixed' as of Generation II. Игры
the only thing doing more damage than toxic + leech seed in this video is the audio
EWGF certified banger
so you're here from them too
You forgot to show the best part of this combo:
Even if the target's remaining HP are low, Venusaur's recovered HP are more than the target has.
Am i the only one who could never make out venussaur in his gen 1 backsprites?
The back sprites in all Gen 1 games are based off of the Pokemon Green sprites. Venusaur has his flower pointing out in that sprite. Although the sprites were updated in the Japanese blue/American RB and Completely overhauled in Yellow, the back sprites never changed
i always think it looks like a bunch of lettuce.
I can't make it out
It looks nothing like venusaur
@@notinuse1708 its Venasaur from pokemon green
I remember in Pokemon Stadium that not only was this glitch not fixed, but the Rival in Gym Leader Castle abused the heck out of it with his Exeggutor.
That’s when I first learned of it…
I love this exploit. Bulbasaur is my favorite gen 1 starter because of it.
Always go Bulbasaur myself. He is the MVP of gen 1, thanks to Game Freaks awful coding.
@@ScumSookar Their coding wasn't as bad as people think. You need to remember that Gen 1 had more people researching the games and looking for flaws for almost 30 years.....
A lot of Gameboy games actually had more glitches than we think, they just aren't as researched as much as Pokemon
If you get poisoned and seeded, you're gonna have a bad time.
*badly poisoned
Oh it's even worse if you use this in conjunction with wrap cause it causes the same loop and your opponent doesn't get to get moves off at all
lol
@@sipp4727 the moment it was toxic, switch to a charizard or something and take the leachseed to counter with a fire blast and hopefully it causes a burn. If it does and they stay in and charizard has more speed(which it might) fire spin has a similar effect as wrap and it does more damage
Still doesn’t excuse not knowing solarbeam
This video was made to prove the existance of this glitch, not for a normal battle.
Lol omg I remember figuring the Leech Seed + Toxic combo when I was 10-11 y/o!!! I used to keep Bulbasaur in the computer thing (whatever it was called) until I got the TM for Toxic; taught it to him and never really needed any other PP. It's awesome to see it on RUclips again lmao
Once your seeded your in trouble because a full heal or full restore doesn't remove it. If only bellsprout could learn leach seed. Wrap + toxic + leach seed. Would be a slow inevitable death
My ears ;_;
Damn, if I knew that this glitch existed, then I would have made my Venusaur keep Leech Seed. Ah well
You can always start a new game.
Same Bro, lol (8 years later reply o_O)
The bug wasn't fixed in Pokémon Stadium, but at least it was fixed in Gen II.
Not to mention, if a badly poisoned Pokémon uses Rest, the bad poison will cure but the bad poison counter won't still be reset, if leech seed or burn occurs on the badly poisoned user who used rest, the burn or leech seed will inflict Bad Poison damage
R and B came out when I was 7, and I didn’t know about the leech seed & toxic combo until about 3 years ago. My venusaur at full strength always had razor leaf, solarbeam, mega drain and sleep powder. Had I only known back then.
Good God! That is absurd damage! Also considering you heal that much HP from leech seed, you could easily send out a weak pokemon and heal it.
Note that it's also one of the glitches that wasn't fixed in Stadium, however it's now fixed as of Gen 2
@antik0343 I had the same problem trying to trade between Yellow and Crystal. I deposited from my Crystal to my Stadium 2 PC boxes and withdrew them with Yellow. Idk why it does that.
@ChickasaurusGL Thank you!
Just to be clear, this algorithm is no longer effective since gen II doesn't it?
the combo is in the mmorpg called pokemon planet Now you can make broken move sets
Venusaur's sprite is badass.
@opticcrawler
Yet, Sp. Atk and Sp. Defense are pretty high, thus even Pokémon with high Sp. Atk like Mewtwo have problems taking it down. :p
With Multiplayer, this makes me wonder how glitch Pokemon would behave, seeing as both games have different gllitch pokemon, so how would both games react?
Also, seeing multiplayer battle's cool!
N * max(1, int(0.0625*MaxHP)
*broken equation intensifies*
This is a glitch that still didn't got fixed in Stadium but got fixed in Gen II
@opticcrawler
It's hp is crazy, but attack and defense are VEEEERY low, maybe even lower than Magikarp's.
that's why you stick to special attacks and teach it reflect or defence curl. I'd say easily half my party knows reflect, when I was younger I just never appreciated the power of it but it's so good. In silver I have a blissey that knows defence curl and it's been wiping the elite four since around level 30 by knowing toxic, soft-boiled and icy wind. Special attacks already don't touch it and with defence curl it's just a power house. Honestly teaching any feeble Pokemon reflect/defence curl or similar completely transforms it, as long as you can get a few hardening moves in before the AI decides to wake up.
I defeated Blaine with a level 37 Venusaur this way once. All three of his Pokemon.. (Yellow)
God damn!! Can you imagine how op his set up would be if it stuck around to gen 6. You'd be screwed if your opponent sent out a pokemon that can learn those two moves
+leonides1527 Unless you switch. You can always do that.
+Lymia Aluysia And they toxic+leech seed what you send out next. Unless it were a steel type.
Unless you're using Sandalit now.
Does this also work in Pokemon Stadium?
Toxic + Wrap is a good combo.
Thunder Wave and Wrap is even better!
You also heal the damage dealt :)
Yes, I have done it. It helped me to take down those annoying Pokemon and get passed Round One.
Goodbye...
ITS STALL TIME
Chansey...
I know a better combo, toxic and wrap. I catch a dratini in the safari zone, then after beating Koga I teach it toxic, it's invincible.
toxic wrap
then switch
leech seed
I have a Dragonair with this. Toxic, wrap, reflect and surf. Stick a reflect up in case wrap misses, hit a toxic and then use wrap. It can wipe the elite four this way from about level 35 onwards save for a few pokemon and as long as you have elixir etc. I even used PP up on my wrap it was that useful. When it was younger it had agility instead of reflect but now it already has the speed advantage reflect saves on potions.
I abused this glitch when i found out about it
Why is the word fixed in quotes?
only the damage increases :)
Does this happen in Stadium too?
Yes, the first one anyways
did this work in stadium as well?
+Gorkamorker I believe they fixed this for Stadium.
Change your profile picture this instant
It works in Stadium 1, not in 2 though
@@EpicGroaning A bit late, but no, this wasn't fixed until gen 2
Hey, does this diabolical combo work in Stadium 1?
Yes iirc ^^
Can confirm, I used this ALL the time in Stadium 1 once I found it out.
The only downside to Toxic Leeching, is that it's easily countered by switching out. Not only does the Leech Seed get removed, but the Toxic actually gets downgraded to regular poison, making this technique redundant.
Best used for trolling an unsuspecting opponent, and then walling them into fatigue.
Venusaur and Dragonite share a cry, whereas Chansey and Pidgeot share a cry.
a lot of gen 1 pkmn shared cries, like paras and mewtwo, charizard and rhyhorn, jigglypuff/wigglypuff and poliwag/poliwhirl, metapod and abra, and so on. one of the small details i loved about gen 6 was that they updated a lot of those old cries to make them sound different than others and also make them sound a bit like the newer pokemon cries
True.
yes, the most difficult elite 4 ever O.O
Has full hp, uses softboiled!!!
Is it virtual? How can you make contact? :O
TGB dual rules! My birthday wish fight with friends
Why Chansey didn't use icebeam? Venusaur would probably die in 1 hit KO.
I beat Sabrina with this Strategy because she kept spamming Psywave and it only did 1HP of damage 😂
Imagine if you taught it mega drain too!
Toxic, leech seed, mega drain, and solar beam just in case you wanna finish off a beast. Yikes.
After learning this, Id say Leech, Growth, Toxic, and Solar Beam
I found out about this by myself.. I thought it wasn't a glitch.. LOL
Wish I had known about this years ago...Lance would have been toast.
Chansey 703 ps..
+Pariah still fucked though.
First, it's a weird pokemon, which is there for people who like doing weird things.
Second, www.math.miami.edu/~jam/azure/pokedex/species/113.htm
leach seed is broken
what game is it? Pokemon Stadium?
More than likely Blue and Red. (Or possibly Yellow)
then why it's multiplayer like there is all that stuff (Waiting..., etc.) in code?
It would have used the battle system in those games to link battle. Pokemon Stadium looks alot different to this.
There was this thiing called Link Cable that allowed people to connect their Gameboys. In pokemon, it allowed to battle or trade pokemon with a friend.
I thought they both ran on the same damage calculator meaning you didn't need to use both in order to take advantage of the damage over time.
Unless that's what you were getting at.
The thing is, Toxic is intended to increase damage over time, which Leech Seed doesn't do. But Leech Seed also uses the damage multiplier, though only Toxic increases it, so both attacks increase attack.
This is stupid howcome chancy is not attacking back. Doesnt prove a damb thing
It shows how much damage they do stacked together dumb bitch
