I loved that Salon Selectives ad back in the day. There was a longer version of it that had a male singer accompaniment. That Ernest and Julio Gallo ad had really attractive actors in it, and they had a really nice chemistry. And who could forget those DoubleMint ads? Some real gems in this collection.

Wow, the Simpsons being advertised as only being on The Tracy Ullman Show on Sundays, and in less than a year they'd have their own show that's still on the air 35 years later. If that's not a snapshot in time, I don't know what is.

Totally forgot WCAY was originally the Fox affiliate in Nashville. We moved away before Fox (as a network) originally came on the air in April of 1987. When we moved back to Nashville in 1990, WCAY had changed their call sign to WXMT and lost the Fox affiliation to WZTV 17. Channel 30 is now WUXP and is the local MYTV affiliate.
Just out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to have any old airchecks of WCAY before they became Fox? I used to have a bunch of old tapes of programs I recorded from WCAY from between 1984-1987. But unfortunately, I either recorded over them or just lost them in general. I remember they ran the 1976 version of King Kong in 1986 and made a huge event of it like NBC did when they first aired it. Sadly, that's one of the tapes I lost over time.

The WCAY/WXMT switch happened actually around the fall of 1989. I've got lots more late '80s Nashville stuff coming your way in the coming months ahead, but I don't have any pre-FOX stuff off WCAY.
