"A lot of people think that Christianity is you doing all the righteous things you hate, avoiding all the wicked things you love, in order to go to heaven.
That's a lost man in religion. A Christian is a person whose heart has been changed-they have new affections now."
    -Paul W.

Well ok the attraction itself is not a sin just like simply being attracted to the opposite gender does not make someone righteous. Its about how one handles and control their behavior and mindset. Even heterosexual marriages can be very sinful if one is lusting after another and perhaps have never touched another.

THen the attraction too murder is not a sin too? The desire to bow down to satan not a sin too cause your not carring it out? All things in the heart is wicked.

@@sorrowinchrist3387 lust is then sin . So yes hating someone and never murdering is still sin. Simple attraction is not lusting after another.

@@jenisebrooks4308Just like yourself simple attraction is not sin. And so murdering is not a sin either as long as you dont act it out. And there are people who will defend this just like gregory on being gay is not a sin if you dont act it it and remain single.
And you forget Brandon and he is right too about homosexual in the bible.
YOu cant escape the burning desire of attraction to the same sex just as the strong desire to murder or worship satan but not acting it out.

Do you not believe that being gay is not a choice? Also, a gay individual can love Jesus as well as love another gay individual.

  • @waynemershon4622

Temptation is not a sin as long as we reject the desire to act on it either in thought or action. However, it is sinful beyond all belief to claim a temptation/sin and define one's identity by it.
There is no such thing as a gay christian. Never and under no circumstances.
Just as we would never accept a christian claim to an identity as a "maritally faithful adulterer" or a "truthful liar", etc, we cannot meet the sin of the LGBTQ movement halfway and make a third category. God forbid. It is incumbent upon pastors and christian leaders to be totally unambiguous in the denunciation of this abomination. It is never a lack of love to call sinners to repentance and help them find their way to following Jesus.
Mr. Whitmer, the mere fact that you chose to take the path of platforming this subject while offering no pushback nor making your position crystal clear is disappointing. There is no way the content of this podcast would have passed the smell test in 1st century christianity, nor the Christianity of 100 years ago, even 30 years ago. Nor will it pass in 2023.
    Sin is sin.
Please repent and take a firm, uncompromising stand on the Word of God.

Did you listen to the whole interview? Neither Greg nor myself are compromising on God's design for sexuality. Out of his commitment to Christ and His Word, Greg has chosen a life of celibacy.

@@unfeignedchristianity Yes sir. I did listen to it all.
The problem with this path is that it creates a middle category that leaves people to forge an identity with their temptation. The Bible does not support this. Can you imagine what the apostle Paul's response to someone who would claim such an identity? Side B christianity is no christianity at all.

@@waynemershon4622 I'm glad to hear you listened to the whole thing. Unfortunately, it seems you have chosen not to hear what we were actually talking about. "Gay" refers to one's orientation. What they are attracted to. As a straight man, you have probably found multiple women attractive throughout your life... even in ways that were not "lustful." It is not sin to be attracted to someone. It is sin to lust after them and to act on those lusts. Greg and I both acknowledge sin and out of commitment to God's design for sex believe that people who are attracted to their own gender ought to remain celibate.
Greg is not defining himself by "gay." His core identity is in Christ. He simply uses "gay" as a way to describe his human experience, just as you might use "married" or "family man" or "carpenter" or even "Christian." Each of these are not the core of who we are in Christ but terms we use in everyday life to help give people a reference for our own stories and experiences.
As far as what Paul has to say, have you read Galatians 6:1-2 or Romans 2:4 recently? Being kind and gentle in this conversation is essential to helping each other walk faithfully with Jesus.

@@unfeignedchristianity I do appreciate your willingness to interact on this. However, I will make this my closing argument:
We either hate sin or we don't. To feel romantic inclinations towards someone of the same gender is not only shameful and sinful, it is also against the natural order. Mr. Coles tried to appeal to science to create a nature vs nurture balance. This is so wrong. This is a sin issue. It can't be "This is who I am, and I embrace it". God forbid.
The right thing for him to do is to express a regretful hatred of his passions and to ask God to help him overcome them in their totality. It's not enough to be celibate while claiming this as an orientation. Sin must be dealt with head on in the life of a believer. Just as no woman would be ok with a husband who promises fidelity to her while yet professing passions for his neighbor's wife, so it goes with this as well.
The bottom line is that part of the reason modern Christianity is so screwed up on this issue is due to a refusal to see how simple this is and call it for what it is. But no, in our age of hyper-nuanced, love-your-neighbor at the expense of truth, I suppose this must be asking too much. One need look no further than Andy Stanley's recent actions and those of his church to see just far the ship has drifted out to sea.
It is shameful. It is wrong. It is sinful. However, at the end of the day, we all have to choose our own path and own the outcome in eternity when we stand before God.
I can assure you, I will most certainly not be the only one of your subscribers to find this podcast highly questionable.
But again, I do thank you for being willing to interact.

So I listened to the whole thing and I think it's cool from a Christian stance except for the terminology. Obviously it's sin to act on gay temptations.
Maybe a lot of what Greg experiences is simply the gift of celibacy.
