In 2003 my 8 yr son was accidentally killed by a mistaken gun shot .My wife and children lived in East NY and Ja is originally from Queens but Mr.Attkins still donated financially, from his pocket, large sum of money. It's not that he GAVE money, it's the fact that he DIDN'T have to give a dime that matters. Thank you again Mr. Jeffrey Atkins aka JaRule. BTW, my ex-wife still have the pictures we had taken together.

Ja's last single from his album was "Mesmerize" which played at the same time as "Wanksta." Also Murder Inc was in serious legal trouble in the beginning of '03 and 50 blew up. Also 50 had this true come back story about him being shot while he sold Ja as "fake." 50 was looked at as a true underdog at that time. Almost everyone brought that narrative at that time - the streets, kids, the media, everyone.
20 years later and I’m still obsessed with the Ja Rule & 50 beef.

Ja Rule’s peak years from 1998-2003 is under appreciated. For anybody that would say “I never like Ja Rule”, would be lying their ass off. He basically gave Drake the blueprint to be great. That was Ja’s lane. With that being said.. He was on a great path but the machine behind 50 back then was unrivaled. 50 was a manipulative mf tho lol.. and Ja was an easy target even tho you can make the case that 50 was stealing Ja’s act and was most likely jealous. He wanted his spot and he TOOK that shit. Ja inherited the beef so he was nothing more than COLLATERAL DAMAGE. There was no way he was gonna recover from that cuz his approach was wrong and he had too many bad decisions which was proven to be career suicide. Also, It was so easy for 50 Cent to push him out the way cuz Ja wasn’t evolving with the industry during the transitional period of hip hop, his light was dimming. The Fed case didn’t help, and he tried to change his image into something that wasn’t his character, and his ego wouldn’t allow him to see that he was taken the wrong route with the tough persona with ZERO credentials. Doesn’t take away from his legacy as a whole, his influence is stamped either way.

Ja was kinda marketed towards the ladies despite what he actually saying lyrically at first. Then his look was more heartthrob thug. Fif came out gangsta with the image and background. It was like he made songs for the club and ladies becuz he studied the hit/money making format. So he was able to get support from both sides. Definitely a very similar music rollout tho.
