You can wear suits in the summer, but you want a lightweight linen or seersucker suit, not fine wool. And it can't hurt to carry the jacket separately where possible. The right undershirt can also make a difference.
This discussion is kinda funny to me though, because in my town we have a fancy old theater like this, but we mostly use it to show classic movies, everything from Duck Soup to RoboCop. I've worn fan T-Shirts to it for Star Wars and The Goonies.

I'm from the northeast, and my region's largest theatre looked like this (still does). I watched Phantom of the Opera there and the Monty Python Musical, among others. Dressed up for phantom but kinda just wore something comfy and nice for Monty Python. We should be good for regular concert stuff, but wearing nice duds to the live would be awesome, too.
Glowing idol stick? Pff, what about glowing idol canes. Tuxedo is mandatory too

i've been to kings theater and ppl really shouldn't worry about going fancy. buuuuut i'm very sure there's cosplayers who'd probably dress up and make a fancy dress, and i'd love to see it lmao.

Honestly though, it'd be really funny to have everyone in formalwear and fancy dresses. In suits, tuxedos and gowns, but everyone still has their light sticks and plushies and such.

Unbeknownst to Ina and probably most of chat, proper Tuxedos are actually some of the lightest formal wear. This isn't going to really help much in scorching hot weather, but New York in August isn't that hot to be honest.
