I clicked right away! He blew me away on Jean-Luc Ponty's album Tchokola. I consider that album just as important as Led Zeppelin 2 or Brubeck's Take Five. The music and the drumming especially are just amazing! Thanks for the breakdowns 🙏🥰🥁

Hi Denis, Yes! I know how you feel. I was so blown away when I heard Wamba that first time I was an instant fan. The Jean-Luc stuff is fabulous. I may check some of that down the road as well. Thanks for watching!

Aubrey, thanks for introducing me to this tune! I hadn't heard this one before. I would love to chat with you about your analysis some time... I hear/feel it very differently: fast 12/8 or simply triplets in 4/4 w/double kick on the first 2 notes of the first 3-note group, snare on the first note of the 2nd 3-note group (back beat), rim click happens on beat 4, etc. Thanks again for posting... love your playing!

Hey brother Larry! Thanks for watching man! I see how you could hear it that way. In fact, that is how I started to transcribe the groove. However, I found that this way sits with the melody and going into the B section more smoothly. I also noticed that Brice slightly uses a ghost note on the first kick note and lands on what I hear as the downbeat with emphasis. Much like a funk drummer would. BTW, I love the stuff you have on your channel! fabulous stuff!
