Instructions
1.Starting with a stick of beeswax, rest in hot water for 2-3 minutes until it becomes soft and pliable (don’t use boiling water or the wax will melt).
2. Dry the wax and roll with your hands on a smooth surface until it becomes round like a pencil. The thickness of the wax pencil will depend on the size of your didgeridoo mouthpiece . For an average sized didge, your beeswax pencil should be around 5mm diameter.
3. Press the wax stick on the inside rim of your didge mouthpiece and mould around until you meet the beginning.
4. Break off any excess wax. Mould the soft wax onto the mouthpiece of the didgeridoo. Be sure to push it inside the didgeridoo for a better grip.
5. Done! Your new beeswax mouthpiece is ready to go.

I've bought two digeridoos from these folks. Excellent experience.
I used hot water in the past but I find leaving the wax under the sun on a plate is much easier to work the wax. 10-20 minutes at most will work very well. Thanks the video guys.
Perfect. Bought some beeswax about 8 months ago from these guys and finally installed today. I found it really easy, the beeswax becomes very malleable when heated right.
nice tip Corey, great idea. If anyone is trying this, just be careful not to heat the timber up too much as there is a higher chance it will crack. With some gentle heat, you should be fine
Fabulous tutorial thanks
To sort this problem, try look at few things.
1. Is the mouthpiece big enough for you? If it is too small, you may find difficult making the sound. I play around 32mm :-)
2. What key is your didge? Generally higher key needs faster vibration on your lips and lower key needs slower vibration. So adjust the vibration depending on didgeridoo.
3. Breath amount, you need to control your air amount . not too weak, not too strong.
So each didgeridoos are caracteristic, find out what's yours!
Do you guys happen to have info on how to replicate the mouthpiece that comes on a Stix? Is it just a matter of melting 2 kits together to make it that taller looking mouthpiece? I have a couple Stix didge and the mouth piece are all messed up and I think I also need help on cleaning out the didge because it's been in a case for a while now and I'm afraid it might have gotten mold inside. Thanks for all the help videos you guys provide!!!
Hi Boa, Yes Stix didges has unique mouthpieces, usually a few sticks of beeswax possibly 2 sets might be better to raise the height. Same as this video showing but just a lot more!

I hope this info helps! Happy Didgin'!
Fantastic. Thank you guys so much! I'll put in an order for a few sets of beeswax since I've got a few didges. In the mean time, I'll work on getting them cleaned up as per the video you linked. Thank you again! You guys are great!
hey mate besides beeswax what can I use? my mouth piece pretty big.
Hey guys, getting my first didge in a few weeks and was wondering, how often should I expect to change my mouthpiece?
I put the new mouthpiece on and then use a hair dryer to soften it up so I can modify the size of the opening to my liking.
Is there's another material beside the beewax to use ? I need more optional choice. Thanks..
yes can also create a permanent mouthpiece out of wood! this way the hole can be drilled to your own perfect size and you will never have to change mouthpieces. google "didgeridoo wooden mouthpiece" for ideas
DidgeridooBreath Thanks mate, I appreciated !
So if the mouthpiece where you play the didgeridoo is too small can the wax help? And is it compatible?
Yes you can put wax mouthpiece to widen your playing size!
@@DidgeridooBreathAustralia thank you!!! And I’m letting you know that I’m so stoked because I found a new hobby!!!
@@AlexanderRivera23 Happy Didgin'!!!
How does a beginner size the opening. Mine is 2" OD and 1.5" ID. I am 5'3" male so not sure how large the wax hole should be when starting to learn. Thanks
G'day Mak K, Average of diameter we have in the store is 30mm, I play 32mm, some play smaller, I would recommend you to experiment and find out what the best for you. Sorry not sure the inches but there are converter somewhere! Happy Didgin'!
DidgeridooBreath 30mm is 1.81" I understand you say to experiment but when you are new, one does not recognize if it is technique or right size hole that makes the difference. So if my opening ID is 38 mm and was not sure if one can make it too small or wide. Thanks
If I loose the drone to a little air leak when I Mona Lisa smile, does it mean it is to big or small?
Mak K g'day mate. you will have to use your intuition on that one buddy - remember, the didgeridoo is an intuitive instrument that one must FEEL into. if you are getting a small air leak when you smile then it could either be the size & shape of your mouthpiece or simply your contact with the didge. wish there was a simple answer we could give to all beginners, but we hope that experimenting with both shape and technique is insightful. 38mm is a bit wide for my tastes :)
im having a bit of trouble with my mouthpiece. i just started learning how to play and i have the lip flapping part down perfectly. but the moment i put the mouthpiece to my mouth, i cant get my lips to keep flapping. any advice?
emtmartinez1989 .....same! did you figure it out?
I just got myself an didgeridoo and dont know what that mouthpiece is good for...
can someone explain it to me? (im playing without mouthpiece atm but bought one together with the didge)
Mouthpieces are good for didgeridoos that have an uncomfortably sized or shaped hole. They are made from natural beeswax which means they can be softened and shaped into the appropriate size. If you donot notice any discomfort then perhaps you do not need one. Its really up to you whether you use one and to what shape you make it.
Thanks for the Information :D
that rly helped :3
Anytime :)
