Your insight into the city is truly unparalleled. I was born and raised here and while I dismiss most food bloggers/influencers, you are among the few who capture a holistic and nuanced perspective of the WHOLE city. As much as I admire Bourdain, “his” NYC felt somewhat limited or borrowed if outside the comfort zone. You showcase all facets and stories of this diverse city. Thank you for creating such meaningful and quality content.

That's wonderful that there are places you can eat at that helps the Ukrainians fight the war. I have Jewish ancestry on my dad's side and the town my great grandpa was from Tchortoria was part of the soviet union when he was born there in the 1880s, but became part of Ukraine in the 1990s. My great grandparents, great uncle and great aunt immigrated to Montreal in 1913 and my grandpa was born in Montreal in 1914. I think they immigrated to escape the first world war.
I love how there is a blue and yellow cookie to support Ukraine. I also love their sign in the window: Make Borscht Not War. So cool!

Hey! I wandered into that last place on my recent trip to New York City because I was seeing a movie at the Angelika a little later. I thought it was nice to eat at a Ukrainian place, but I had no idea I was also contributing to such a worthy cause! It was a good dinner: Weinerschnitzel and egg noddles.
Fun to see you there now too. It's one of the few places I ate during my week in the big apple that I hadn't had recommended by either your channel or another.

Another excellent video by Jon. The quality and variety of his video’s are superb. He shows you things and area’s of NYC that you wouldn’t normally consider. Definitely the best YouTubber who highlights’s what’s going on in New York. You can trust what he says and it’s done in nice way. His travel videos are also superb like the recent California one. I didn’t know New York had such a big Ukrainian community and it’s great to see so many places doing there best to help that country and it’s people as it is terrible what is going on their at the moment. Jon’s videos always make you feel just that little bit better after watching them. New York is my favourite city to visit and I can’t wait to return so having someone like Jon always updating you on certain things to see and what’s is going on is great for me. This video is a case in point.

The schnitzel too is a popular dinner for Poles too. Need to come back to NYC again and visit these restaurants for sure.

Now, ur in the lower east side - where I was born - visiting Ukrainian Restaurants. My grandparents were from Austria and Russia - and my mother used to prepare all those delicious Jewish foods. Blintzes, pierogis, chulent, borscht - with sour cream. My mouth was watering while u and Ben were eating. Eating great food is an EXPERIENCE!!!!! Standing for Ukrainia. Thank You for ur great videos - allowing the world to view small businesses - especially mom & pop restaurants. America was built by people opening small businesses.

Jon, nicely done as always. One thing I really like about your videos is you always leave the audience wanting more, not to mention supporting a very noble cause. Just curious, when you say largest Ukrainian community does that factor in all the Soviet Jews that escaped the old Soviet Union. Of course it's not important in the grand scheme of things. Keep up the good work, and btw my grandmother was a Ukrainian Jewish immigrant from Tzarist Russia in the early part of the 20th century. Keep up the good work, and send my best to the family.

Around 8th Street, you will like their coconut rice that you mentioned about - nasi lemak with fried chicken. It's a little higher price as compare to Kopitiam that located in Chinatown Manhattan. Im glad to see though that my Russian friends here in the U.S atleast got my back. Although theyre Russian, they hope they lose. I still have a lot of family left in Ukraine and we all just hope they manage to escape all that unnecessary aggression from the Russian side.. Putin gotta put his ego aside for a moment and just abandon the war. Kind of like the U.S did in Vietnam… pretend u won, But just leave.
